I screwed up my weight count around August 20th -- I went back and sorted it out with weightgrapher (because I log there too), so the above is the corrected list. That's what I get for posting before coffee.
The scale flashed a 209.9 and a 210.1 at me this morning, but I couldn't get it to recreate those, so I'm sticking with 210.2. We are planning Chipotle lunch today, so I know my sodium will be higher and likely reflect that on the scale tomorrow. And I plan to walk later.
@HappyDonkey75 I'm glad the damage wasn't any worse than it was. Wind storms are truly scary. Hopefully you still have power.
@SofaKween I hope you can salvage the garden/beans! I was doing windowsill gardening during the pandemic (green onions, even started some lettuce), but we never made it to a full garden outside.

Weather was awful yesterday with rain and gusting winds. Had a particularly heavy shower around 4 p.m. when a sudden break in the clouds allowed the sun to shine through and created the most stunning double rainbow. Simple things that lift the spirits on a dark day.
@ManifestingToday the beans are mostly unsalvageable but I reading @HappyDonkey75 weather woes we got off really lightly, so i'm not complaining. The grass on the lawn has definitely appreciated the rain and is already turning from brown back to green.2 -

Iβm realizing now that my goal each month should be to hit a new low at some point during the month, not necessarily on the last day. Because my weight goes up and down so much as it does for us all. My pattern tends to be that the new low lands somewhere mid month. My lowest point last month was 187.5. And in August I went down to 186. So wherever I land next Saturday, I can still say progress is being made.
And on the subject of choosing to focus on weight on the scale, itβs a mental thing for me. I like to have something quantifiable. Similar to counting calories, which is never going to be totally accurate, it just gives you something to keep you dialed into the process

Scale is not playing too nice since the 17th..
My dad was hospitalized yesterday and I have jump on a flight this evening to go to their place to be with my mom since she cannot be left alone. She requires almost full care. My dad normally is her caregiver. They had not arrived yet to my place as planned (were supposed to start the trip today) . I am so grateful that this didn't happen while they were on the road . I likely won't be weighing since they don't have a scale but I will pop in as I can to help keep me focused. It will be me and my sister managing all this while trying to work. I am grateful to have a remote job so I can do this but also feeling really overwhelmed by it all.

Went for a walk in the forest with the grandkids yesterday hoping for a muddy walk after Saturdayβs lashing rain. Alas, no traces of mud could be found, much to their vocal disappointment. Fortunately, lots of old fallen trees and branches, so they had fun climbing instead and luckily no splinters!

Thank you everyone for the kind words . Much appreciated.
There has been a change of plans. I am sticking home for now. No traveling and we have other arrangements made for now.
My dad is still hospitalized. He has a host of complications right now that are being managed and I won't get into too many details but Cancer was diagnosed so we're waiting to see what the plan will be after more tests.
In the meantime I am going to stay focused on my health.
I went for a hard hill climb hike yesterday when the dust settled a bit on the family situation to clear my head. I find physical exertion really helps me. I clocked over 3 miles and mostly steep uphill. The knee held up great , the downhill I feel like I have to be really cautious to not take a mis step on rocky ground. I am a bit of a klutz in general ! The hamstrings and low back are tight today !

@HappyDonkey75 hang in there. It's not easy having to deal with an unwell family member. Incidentally, my dad just went for a 12 hour op 2 days ago. I am feeling guilty going to the gym while he's recovering but I am sure there's no correlation between me spending time on myself and him recovering well.

@ManifestingToday, thanks for accepting alternate view points. I agree that weight is the easiest metric to track and that should be the one single metric that helps keep us on track on a day to day basis. So that's what we are all doing here and I appreciate you holding this thread together.
If we use body fat percentage, using a home scale can be very defeating as they use your weight, gender and age to proxy rather than just pure body impedance. It becomes very inaccurate and difficult to move even after losing large amount of weight. But if we use commercial scales or even Dexascans, they can get costly and not so accessible. And we don't want to wait a month or more in between measurements while being clueless in between whether we are progressing or not.
@dannytrees1 Yeah for NSV! That's the most satisfying part. People around you won't know your weight without asking but they can see your face, body shape change and your clothes fitting better. I am very tempted to change out my wardrobe now after losing 25 LBs but I have a bit more to go so I will resist till I get there. In the meantime, I will just let my clothes hang lose.2 -
This is probably a bit of a ramble but I am just sitting here thinking about next month and reflecting a bit on August. I had the time so taking advantage of it. Curious what everyone else is thinking for goals for September
My goal was to hit 187 for August and to increase strength workouts. I am pretty darn close for the weight goal . I have consistently been doing strength sessions 3 times a week and incorporated 2 SIT training days. I feel like its helping. I am considering the LiftMore Beachbody workout , anyone else done this ? Its a subscription based thing through Beachbody. I had good luck with P90X years ago(when I was extremely fit!) and have actually been utilizing many of those weight lifting exercises in the last month.
back to the weight thing.. Unfortunately , I didn't get a weight for myself on August 1st because I was out of town but I was 194.7 on Aug 5th.
Looking at my Withings app that is tied to my bluetooth weight scale, it says I have lost 3.8 lbs this month. That actually surprised me. I think I had to see that number variation to feel like I accomplished something this month. Yes the clothes are fitting better and yes I feel better but I see myself in photos and I just don't see the difference. For the last two weeks, I felt like I have been a bit stuck on the scale but Considering 2 lbs a month is considered a good rate of loss I am happy I have exceeded that.
And after all that, I don't know what my goals will be for September2 -

@Enber74 the body fat percentage on my scale has always seemed so inaccurate that I ignored it - now I know why! Thanks for the explanation. I once did a Dexa scan (or the Canadian equivalent) and although I had a lot of fat, I also had a LOT of muscle for my gender and height, and the guy doing the test was impressed. This was a big confidence boost and helped me understand where to focus my efforts. Also have you looked into body fat calipers? Apparently theyβre pretty accurate.

@ManifestingToday - thank you for the kind words and keeping me in your thoughts. We are not out of the woods yet but we did get some positive news yesterday. We hope he gets released today and can follow up outpatient.
@Enber74 - thank you for the mention, and I hope your dad is doing ok from his surgery.
@SofaKween - yes its been the hardest on my sister who is right there. I am so grateful she is a nurse and is able to do so much.

I might have been too aggressive in my weight loss and am thinking of slowing it down just a little. I wanted to hit 183lbs by end Sept, which means I am 10 lbs away from last weigh in. Why I was thinking of slowing down? Because the skin is loose and it's not contracting fast enough. Sure I may look better in clothes but the muscle isn't piling on fast enough to fill up the skin after the fat loss.
I am thinking I will have to increase my food intake with a lot more protein and carbs to fuel an increase in workout intensity to build the muscle faster. I am due for an inbody scan this Friday (30 Aug) and can't wait to see where I am now. Was 32.7% (Dexascan) at the start of July, 26.2% (inbody) on last day of July. I am hoping to get somewhere about 22% - 23% this friday. And if I can get below 20% at 85KG/188LBs by end Sep, I'd be over the moon.
Just a thought. Not sure if I will want to change my initial 100 day goals still though.3 -

So I reached my original end August goal. And probably the stretch goal. But I feel that if I want to get to 86.1KG by this weekend is going to be next to impossible and I may not want to cut calories so aggressively to try. I'm going to settle.

I have root canal this afternoon, can't say i'm looking forward to it. May as well make it a day when I tackle some of the tasks I have been putting off, then at least Iβll feel like Iβve achieved something positive.
As for goals for September - probably much the same as August except I may need to embrace the plateau but work on increasing strength and fitness.
