    Sheri, I read long ago that moving a mile burns the same number of calories whether you do it running or walking. I haven’t read anything that disputes that however, I suspect the long term would be different if you run - how many of us actually RUN?

    @quiltingjaine I have heard similar things. Out of curiosity, I did the math from yesterday's two walks, based on my Apple's watches data from my walks. The faster one was roughly 70 calories/mile, and the slow walk was 56 calories/mile. Probably close enough for that premise to be good advice for "just doing it" regardless on one's pace.

    74 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
