@JZ_50 You are doing great. Love the pouting comment. Be careful and don't push distance and pace too much. You don't want to get injured.
Oh no @SummerSkier . Thanks for letting us know. That makes me so sad. She fought so hard. Cancer sucks.

@tarun_yadavA another friend of hers posted yesterday in the runner accountability thread She was just the most lovely person and so encouraging. She fought so bravely and hard. I am saddened.3

@SummerSkier thanks for letting us know about @shanaber 😥 She was the first person to welcome me on this thread so many years ago. We share a birthday and I had always felt a connection with her.
We have lost many members on this forum, and she will be missed greatly.4 -

I just read this and feel absolutely crushed. I always looked forward to reading about Hobbes and agility. She was so welcoming when I started frequenting the running thread. I had already run this morning, but tomorrow's run is for her.

I'm gutted to hear that @shanaber passed away. She was such a positive light and so supportive of everyone. I will miss hearing from her on these forums and seeing pictures of handsome Hobbes in his bowtie. She will be missed so much.
Even though I don't know any of you in real life, I feel like I know many of you very well. Over the years I have shared so many struggles here both running and non-running related and felt so supported by this group. It hurts every time someone from this group passes.8 -

The weather this morning was beautiful! It was 64°F and sunny with a light breeze. I ran 11 miles and it just felt like I could run forever. It was an uneventful run really, but it was so nice outside that I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I did think of @shanaber this morning. I will really miss her. I saw a monarch butterfly on my run And then when I got home I saw this posted on Facebook.
Great job on the 5K @steviebee888!
@7lenny7 43 miles is super impressive, especially when undertrained.

So sorry to hear about @shanaber. She was such a fighter and so optimistic I didn’t fully appreciate how ill she was. I’ll be running for her tomorrow.5
-
I literally have been sad all day. Cancer stinks and it seems to take the most beautiful people with it.
I ran my 2.50 miles today in honor of @shanaber

44 miles out of 120 goal. I did sprint repeats today after a long run yesterday.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous with more perfect weather forecast so I am trying to pace myself so I don't overdo it and miss out.
I too am so very sad. I did understand how sick she was altho she never was explicit here. When she said goodbye last month it felt pretty final. 🥹🥲🥹 But was a FIGHTER. I am proud to have known her.
She gave us over 600 miles for our Run the Year team.

Nice Sunday run @tarun_yadavA .
I hope you had a nice trip home @martaindale . Nice this morning.
Nice run @kgirlhart . I love the saying that you found on FB this morning after your run.
Nice run in @shanaber 's honor @daria0919 .
I'm glad you are having better weather @SummerSkier . Nice running.
As I said earlier, I am really sad about @shanaber but knew it was probably coming. She held on and fought so hard as long as she could. I hope I can be as gracious if anything like that ever happens to me. I almost felt odd about posting encouragement/commenting on your runs today, but that is what she would have done. She was always so positive and optimistic. I'm going to miss her and Hobbes tales a lot.
Mom and I went out to a big Mexican lunch after church today with the neighbors who "hosted" our yard sale. After I got home, I took a nap and then did a 1.50 mile walk on the driveway. I hope to get in a long run tomorrow. We shall see.

I went back and looked @shanaber July goal. She set her goal to 50 miles and completed 30 of those before saying goodbye to us. I want to finish up her goals that she set out to do. I have thought about her most of the day."Run with your legs to be fast; Run with your mind to be faster; Run with your heart to be unstoppable"10
-
Morning all
Got in 5.0 at 09"59.
@AlphaHowls thanks for sharing that @shanaber message from July.
@martaindale 100% what you said about this group
@quilteryoyo hope the big Mexican lunch cheered you up3 -

I didn’t know @shanaber but this resonates. I donated to cancer research and will get out there and run at lunchtime because I can, and sod the rain.

Great run @tarun_yadavA ! The Mexican did help, until I stepped on the scale this morning. Geeze. I'm up 3 pounds from yesterday and was already up a couple of pounds from the day before. I hope I sweat most of that out today.

Hi, All! Happy Monday. I was under the weather this weekend, so I did not do my runs on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
I woke up and did 1.5 today. Although my goal was 1 a day, I am content with 30 for the month, so I will make up what I missed. Have a great day!6 -

Saturday’s skiing lessons felt easy - barely left HR zone 1 - but my toes objected to being stuffed into boots (after 2 months of barefoot shoes/exercises), and my hips objected to all the rotation (either duckwalking uphill in skis or plough). I took a rest day yesterday and moved that run to today: all seems fine, and managed to stay in zone 2 for 86% of the whole cold, wet 4 miles (more of this weather to come, I fear!). Yes, @tarun_yadavA, I’m in the UK (west Norfolk).
Silent disco info in spoiler! We were wearing wireless headphones, with 3 channels to choose from (they light up in different colours so you can see what channel your friends are dancing to) by 3 different DJ’s, who play different styles or eras. In April it was all 80’s (hence my outfit in this pic), this time it was a mix of 70’s/80’s/90’s pop, dance and R&B. My friends say I dance like I’m doing an 80’s aerobic class… I think it was a compliment?
The venue was Ely cathedral - an amazing space - with over a thousand people dancing away. If you take off your headphones, you can hear people singing along to 3 different songs, but no music at all… it’s fairly quiet outside, so no annoying the neighbours: “It was a bit of a shock to read in The Sunday Times about the silent disco in Ely Cathedral, a building that I can see from my workroom window, because I’d never heard anything about it. The participants wore headphones, but were free to sing along to the music in their ears with Chardonnay-fuelled abandon. A friend on the Chapter said that it was like hearing the noise of a distant football match.”. I dance sober, so I don’t know what my excuse is. I would say there are more ladies than gents, but there’s a huge age range, and it has a good vibe - even the security guards are having a bit of a bop when they think no-one is looking!7 -
So far 50km of 150km target.
I'm on my taper so the mileages will be dropping like a stone in the next couple weeks.
Then again, I'm at 1,628km / 1014 mi total for the year. That's already more than last year and the year before too. Woohoo! Aiming to see if I can make 2000km for the year. My knees might not like me by then, sigh, aging....6 -

Hi everyone, I've been awol for ages, too much going on to have time to sit down and get on forums, but I heard about Shana and am gutted. I knew she was sick but not that it was so bad. She was such a kind and lovely lady. I see many of you are running for her but feel a group tribute is called for as we've done for others in the past. Thoughts, anyone?5

I was thinking about that too. I would love to be part of a group tribute.4 -
Hi everyone!
I was so busy this weekend that I didn’t have time to read any posts, so I just found out about @shanaber . That is such sad news! She had such a welcoming and warm presence in this group. I am all for a group tribute!
It feels weird posting about my unusual Saturday run/fail and my long run today in light of the news. I do want to thank you for all the birthday wishes and I took a picture of my brunch spread just for @tarun_yadavA , so I will share that. I made it to 40. Today was my last long long run before the marathon (33k) It went well, as the weather was nice and in my favor.
There were also some omelettes and cakes involved, but I didn’t get any pictures of those.6 -

It was perfect running weather this morning. 54°F with a dew point of 54°. Hal's plan called for a rest day today. I'm not sure why. But I usually run 3 miles on Mondays, so I did my usual. I actually ran 3.5 miles. Sometimes I miscalculate the turn around. Plus, it was just so lovely I wanted to keep going. We should have another beautiful morning tomorrow. I know that the heat isn't totally behind us, but I am certainly enjoying this fall-like weather.

I'm just stopping by to share condolences with you all after Shana's passing. I just looked back over my private messages with her - it was mostly cheering each other on in our health battles. Even when she was so sick, she was still such a huge encouragement, and was doing all she could to make the best of what she was able to do. I will miss hearing about her and Hobbes' adventures.
Instead of running, I'm designating the flowers (yellow and magenta chrysanthemums) I brought home today to put into a balcony planter, as my "Shana flowers". They'll be a little reminder to smile and make the most of things.9 -
Also I hope it's OK to post this here, but I'm trying to remember who all said they had moved over to logging in the "Lose It" app...I just started logging over there and can't figure out how to search for friends without having an email address... so IF you're there...feel free to go into the "MFP Exodus" group and scroll back a couple days until you see my comment from around Sept.4, about looking for my MFP Running Challenge friends, and add me from there 😁.2

I was saddened to hear of @shanaber passing.
I was at the lake early this morning and planned to go to the college's field house in the afternoon, but I took a nap instead.
