Heather: Enjoy the day with your birthday boy.1

Tonight I drew up a plan for the front garden.
That's the easy part.
Making the plan come to life will be challenging!
Machka in Oz
So far I've just drawn up the plan. That's the easy part. I haven't actually started the project yet. If I didn't have a project on hand, I'd end up just sitting around. Meanwhile, I do have to focus some of my attention on unpacking. I've still got boxes everywhere.
This is the blank slate:
This is the plan:

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Allie let the good times roll!
Michele this week has been cold here. But the pool will be open again before you know it!
Rita and Carol gentle hugs for your pain.
Rory good job strengthening!
I didn't get much done in my room. And I ordered another sweater from Amazon. It's one I bought before but a different color. So maybe I can wear that for Thanksgiving. But I do need to declutter. I am up to size xl but I don't want to toss my large clothes. Surely I will be back down to a large soon. I don't have room for all these sizes but I don't want to replace them all either!
I have horseback riding today. And I have to ask my sitter to cover so I can get my driver's license renewed soon. And Dad has Bible study.
I stayed up last night with a good book. So I will be tired today.
Have a great day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Annie- Can you box your L size clothes up and put them somewhere out of the way for now? You don't need them in your daily closet, reminding you of your unwanted weight gain and making you feel guilty. One size down, it's reasonable to keep them for a while, but you deserve some clothes that fit you and make you feel good.

Yes ... that's what I do. In my clothes bin, I've got the ones on their way out and the ones that are too small for me.
A while back the bin just contained clothes that were too big for me. But those days have passed!
M in Oz3 -
Heather and Machka you are right, thank you. I just need a couple of clear plastic storage bins. Or to edit my sweatshirts and sweaters that live in my current storage bins.
Looking at my room, the one useless thing I have on display is my knitting. I could do a better job with that.
I watched a Clutterbug video. I can feel my resistance. Even though I'm a perfectionist and find fault with most of my clothes, I'm attached to them. But this house is ridiculous. My dead mother's stuff is everywhere, and mine is stuffed into corners. I could fill a new bookcase with my books on the floor. Maybe looking closely and getting bothered is part of the process.

I filled two bags to donate! Yay!
I found some stuff that I don't know where to put. I guess that's part of the process too.

Machka, your plan sounds ambitious! Plants are your friends, and you have quite the green thumb, heck hand!

Up at 6 am this morning. Course the 5:45 am spam call didn't help.
Well kind of at the wait and see to hear from sons mode. I send them questions and it takes awhile to get an answer. Haven't heard from eldest heading toward Japan. Middle son should be getting a treat box for the gkids today, told him about that, without any acknowledgment yet about it. Also sent him an invite to my sisters next month, no acknowledgement from that either. Youngest hasn't updated me either on when he heads back to the States. Trying not to mentally go bonkers, but its hard. Today will be a good day, exercising, grocery shopping on this rainy day on the island. Hugs ladies.

Allie ~ Thanks for taking us on your journey. Your step-granddaughter is cute. Is she the daughter of Tracey's father who I know you are divorced from many years ago?
Michele ~ So good to hear that your foot is better. Good News! Taking that tv to the landfill seems to have involved a lot of planning. It's good that you have neighbors that are close and willing to help as needed.
Rori ~ Glad to hear that your hip exercises are helping. Mars looks very satisfied on his cushion.
Tracy ~ Lauren will love her Halloween decoration. It's great that you have vacation time already at your new job. Enjoy!
Annie ~ Hope you are able to continue with your decluttering. I know from experience when you have other people's stuff to deal with that the decisions are hard to make.
Got a cortisone injection in my neck yesterday and am feeling so much better. Slept well for the first time 5 days.
I am going to early voting today. As a lot of you know, Georgia is a battleground state.

Hey, kiddos...
Just finally got Egg to quit clinging to me - it was like her version of The Police--Every breath you take, every move you make, I'll be clinging to you and sitting on you and purring at you and patting you with my pointy little paws. Maybe the weather change? I dunno. On his "good morning" call, Corey said she was like that with him at 5 a.m., as well. Funny little cat.
Rori - It looks like Mars is enjoying the Fall weather on the deck. So glad the hip issues can be alleviated with your strengthening and stretching work. Thanks to you and to everyone else for the comments on the clutch... I learn something new with every piece I make, and this was a big learn. Really had fun with it. Enjoy your time with the man in your life--it is one of the hazards to seeing them intermittently - the need to entertain them.
Annie - Well done on the two bags to donate. I take things like that and put them in the car the moment they're ready to go. Makes me feel so much better when I pull things out... and sometimes lets me change my mind on some things. Sort of a transitional stage, if you will. Makes it easier to put things in the "donate" pile, too, if you immediately forget what you've put in there!
Tracey - Love, love, LOVE the haunted house wooden piece - you're so creative with those. I've been so up in Christmas stuff I forgot we're not even to Halloween yet! Reminds me that I need to get back to the wood burning, too. Corey cut me some coins to make ornaments, and I need to get those done, too...
Heather - John's birthday celebration, your gifts and the salade Niçoise all look and sound wonderful. Your celebrations are always interesting, and your care in making things happen the way they should is intriguing and admirable. Many happy birthday wishes to John; he's such a lovely man.
Dinner for us will be hamburgers - so I have to go down to town to pick up a couple things - fresh ground beef, wheat buns for Corey. I already have slider buns for me; he makes me one that's significantly smaller than his two monster burgers! 🤗😹😍). We don't have any ketchup either, and I do like fry sauce with the air fried steak fries that he wants. I make my own sauce, with light mayo, a little caper or olive brine, and ketchup, plus a little garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
And I should probably get going and do that...
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in chilly Arkansas, warming up starting tomorrow, and for the next couple of weeks, with highs back up in the mid-80s (29-30 c). No rain in the forecast, and we've been dry for so long that we're already under a burn ban.

John wanted a painting afternoon for his birthday, trying out acrylics on canvas.
He produced this. Only his second time.
Pretty good, me thinks.
I wanted to splosh around with a palette knife and made this.
I had fun.
Also made a card for some future birthday.
John was going out for a walk and I was having a nap, when DDIL texted to say she was locked out with the kids . So John has driven over there with our key!
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxx

I'm in the car outside the dentist's office Annie is in the back seat looking out the window. We are listening to my favorite music on the car speakers. I forgot to bring my wallet so I have no driver's license or credit cards.
Tracey Halloween decoration is darling. Bravo for finding time for creativity
[Heather what a great birthday celebration you created for your husband
Annie My father died in 1988 and my mother in 1991. We moved into their house when she died and filled three storage units with things we needed to to sort before discarding. It took us 10 years to finally empty the storage units. You have an even bigger challenge with caring for your father. Be kind to yourself and get joy from each small step along the way
Machka I look forward to seeing your garden take shape
Lisa one of your many talents is creating meals that fit the different nutritional needs that you and Corey have
Rori. I love hearing about all your adventures
Rita sorry to hear about all your new aches and pains

My knee feels better today, at least I can put some weight on it and manage the few steps we have. Will take a rest/healing day again today.
Dinner yesterday was Shepard’s Pie ala Kevin, he used onions in the burger, peas and carrots instead of corn and only put the potatoes on top. When I was a kid, the potatoes were on both the bottom and the top with just a little filling of plain hamburger and corn to feed a family of 5. Potatoes were free from my grandparent’s garden so one way to stretch the burger and 1 can of corn. Unfortunately, no picture.
I set up a chair and leg rest outside yesterday as it was cool out all day, only got up to 76, and read my book. Went in only because of the flies and the sun was hot. I didn’t want to move the setup all around to get shade. Stayed inside and worked on my 2025 budget for a while then watched some Halloween movies and shows the rest of the day. I was totally bored and kept wanting to get up and move, but as soon as my foot it the ground, or my knee bent, I sat down quickly! Today it is more like a constant ache and feels like it spread down to my calf and up to my thigh in the back of my leg. Going to go take some Tylenol (no NSAIDS due to kidneys) and ice it some.

The carbonara was fabulous. John was ecstatic!
My son came over with the kids' cards which were all hilarious. They also did a couple of videos with a singing cactus 🌵 🤣 which were fabulous. Only screenshots so they don't work!
Now watching Midsomer Murders.

Today was the third time making chicken salad in a two week time frame. Its so yummy. Just cut up celery, roastchicken, sweet yellow onion, apple, walnuts all about the same size. The dressing is just mayo, ACV, brown mustard, salt and pepper and Old Bay. It is so satisfying to me! It was only a bit of each, but it makes a big bowl, and I ate it all up!

Took yogi to the vet. He had a swollen ear, probably by a wasp bite I would think. No allergic reaction thankfully. Found out he has ear infections in both ears, has rash on his butt area (dry kind of skin). Came home with a bunch of medicines, he has to wear a head wrap so he won’t shake his head. Vet says he doesn’t drain the ears anymore because he gets calls saying it has filled up again. Says if you keep poking and drain it, you will probably end up causing an ear infection. Bill was like $540 something, when I got home kirby noticed the allergy shot was part of the bill but they didn’t give him a shot, so I called and found out they messed up, the processed a refund back to my card ($175). So bill was really about $335. Kirby caught it. Now I’ve got to get these medications straight and know when to give them.

I'm still learning about the plants. That's not my strong area.
I'm more excited about digging and moving rock!! My first 2 steps involve moving rock, so that's good.
Hopefully it will all come together the way I envision.

Annie – doesn’t it feel good to have the things to donate out of your way?
It was COLD this morning. Wore my coat to BK. But it was gorgeous this afternoon. We got all the lights for the Halloween decorations up and hooked up. Had a dentist appt for a routine cleaning. All’s well
Tracey – great Halloween decoration. You are very talented
Rori – what a full life you are having! I’m so happy for you
pip – Yogi looks so sad with that head gear. How long will he have to wear it?
Jess got her kitten yesterday. He’s a real cutie. Tomorrow they pick up the cat (he’s 5 years old).

Hi, my friends,
I love reading about what you are all up to. Allie, Delia is growing so fast. I am so happy you are having a great time on your trip. Carol, your granddaughter, is quite lovely. Egg looks so cute in his balled-up position. Rori, your kitty, looks like he is the owner. Heather, you and John are both October's children. Teri, enjoy your quiet day. The peaceful days are nice to have. Tracey, I love your holiday creation. I am itching to paint. I ordered more brushes and acrylic paints.
Pip, I have written many posts that disappeared, and I was too tired to start again. So, if I am repeating myself, please forgive me. I love reading your story about Lenny and Kirby. To have loved two great men in your life and to be loved back is a gift. I can tell you treasure it. You looked radiant around both guys. You are so beautiful, no matter what size you are. I love the fight in you. You don't stay down for long. I brag about you at work, that you rode your bike 3500 miles to raise money for MS, and your running speed. They were amazed. They are in their 20's and can not even consider conquering your stats.
Machka, do you know anything about hybrid bikes? I am thinking about getting myself one for Christmas. I have a regular bike in my shed, but I am afraid of the wasp to get it. I will have DH pull it out when he comes into town. I will have it tuned up as well. Lisa, I would love to see you paint again.
In 30 minutes, I will turn 59. I can not believe this is my last year in my 50s. I took the day off and plan to put Rose in daycare (I got a free coupon). I will get a mani/pedi, then go swimming. I want a massage, too; we will see. I went through my closet, and my jeans with tags from Old Navy were too big, and the material was hard. I will donate. The smaller-sized jeans fit, but they are made of hard material, too. I didn't think my mom would like those pants. They may soften in the wash. I am working on my pantry, which is shaping up, but more needs to be done. I made a playlist for power walking the trail. I like music from my era and my kids, like Cheetah Girls (Julia and her friend Violet used to sing it non-stop) and High School Musical. I have a playlist for my mom, too. When I take her to her appointments, sometimes she cries when she hears certain songs. Well, I'd better go to bed now. It has been nice talking to you all. Take care.
XO,
Mo6 -
Gratitudes:
Thursday: Blue sky, blue sea, warm sun when sheltered from chilly ocean breeze, such a beautiful place!
Wednesday: Joe has expanded his comparison shopping to include on the laptop. Mr. “I-hate-them-dam-digits” has found Amazon and Walmart.com. Progress for someone who never checked a price before the pandemic… I think… ;}
Tuesday: Was looking for possible unclaimed funds from Mama’s checking account, when found an insurance policy they both owned. Claim will take SIX months to process but it will be like a $$$$ gift from Mama and Papa. Now to gather the needed documents, plow through the instructions, fill in the forms… naah. Took two days off from paperwork de-cluttering and went for walks with friends instead. Thinking it might be a sign from heaven that I need to be able to pay for hearing aids…
Monday: that I neither purged emails, nor documents folders associated with term on the fire district board. Came in handy to answer questions about a grant received in 2023 for turnouts
Sunday: that first sip of tea.
Machka Loved yours to Annie about how to de-clutter drawers without leaving Dad alone.
Pip Kirby had the vision to see inside you to see the beauty you always had
Flea, likewise here in Southern Oregon, neither former president Trump nor candidate Vance statements appeared.
Michele, I don’t understand why you have to boil water at home to take to work with you?
Tracey, so thankful your daughter’s experimental back surgery was successful.
Only through page 13 but sleepy.
De-cluttering challenge Days 31-34/30 to keep it going. One thing leads to another.Later, lighter, lovelies!
31- Put this, in the recycling bin
Sometimes you have to make a mess first.
32-More recycling
Progress.
33-These will leave the house Monday.
34-Will tackle this after I get out from paperwork H E double toothpicks.
