Hi...You are doing great and we are so proud to have you here. I have sent you a friend request and would like to learn from you. All the very best in your journey,2
-
I know the feeling, my feed use to give me updates everyday about my friends. Now all I get is this cold data page that 50% of is fogged out, I guess if you want to interact you have to pay now, or I just don't know how to use the new page.
@jestog63 The good news is that none of that has anything to do with free or premium or how to use the various pages. The feed is completely gone for everyone. These boards are the only interactive space MFP continues to offer.2 -
I am very sorry that you guys lost the newsfeed. I didn't know it, so I can't miss it but I see why having one would be wonderful. I would love to communicate more with all of you who took the time to congratulate me or cheer for me.
However, this is one of the rare occasions that I am very selfish and self-centered (even though I am really not: "Could you please not forget that my original post was a success post because even while lonely, I am mighty proud of myself that I have lost now 23 1/2 pounds.
This post was never about the newsfeed!4 -
Twenty lbs is AWESOME!!! Keep up the great work, show yourself grace, and leave the negativity at the door, you GOT this!! Well done.2
-
Hey, you're amazing! Keep it going!1
-
Wow. It amazing. I have a similar goal as you. I need to lose near 44lbs (20kg) and I've started yesterday this path. Read this kind of posts encourage me to put all my energies to improve myself.1

Hello, Lady_Magenta,
I signed up for MFP back in December 2023, and have had two friend requests- both from men, apparently, who are afraid to show their faces. It sounds like you're doing a great job- congratulations!1 -
yes, bring our newsfeed back. We could interact with others, so important.0
-
See, you're not alone. You're here. And you're doing it.
I have been back on MFP for 10 weeks and am being successful for the first time. Because I have often used the app and not lost weight, (I have even gained weight), I was loath to make contact with anyone until today. I, too, have lost 20lb.
My strategies: walking every day, time-restricted eating (16:8), logging everything I eat, giving myself permission to eat 'off piste', (I had no idea how boring sweeties could be if they weren't forbidden), and taking time every day to admire something about me. Yesterday I even spent money having my eyebrows (or guinea-pigs, as I have seen them) tamed and tinted! The results are weight loss, confidence gain, and hardly any desire to eat sweeties.
Onwards and upwards. Nothing really worth having ever came easily. X

IMO, you are doing this perfectly: I'm a big fan of "find your own successful eating plan" (rather than blindly following some trendy named diet that isn't as 'one size fits all' as its evangelists claim ).
I can understand about feeling a bit alone. Our own life course and self-image are a bit of an internal drama: No one else is likely to be equally interested. When I was losing weight, no one around me was doing that with me, and I tended not to talk about it . . . mostly because the discussions got silly, on one hand all full of nonsense from the blogosphere about what I "must do" to lose weight (none of which I did!) and on the other hand full of "women our age can't lose weight" (I was 59-60 then). Ugh.
I have found some camaraderie here in the MFP Community, in various ways. Over time, I've also found a few people IRL with whom I had more in common in terms of pursuing improved health. Still, I feel like it's mostly things that I do for myself. There are times when my will to improve slips a bit, and self-indulgence takes over. So far, I've been able to re-find my way. I hope I can keep doing it - certainly my intention.
I try to greet new folks here to some extent, especially those in my demographic (I'm 68 F). But I do get dispirited by the "one post and done" experience . . . even though I understand that the app isn't for everyone, and that some people may get a different greeting than they would individually prefer (because we're all different).
Best wishes for continuing success!
I saw your posts here and on another thread about reaching new milestones in walking/stairs, which is also truly wonderful.4 -
Hi, I'm so happy for you at losing 20 pounds! That's great. I'm sorry I don't come on here for community but I saw your headline and immediately I wanted to say "Hi". My name is Randy2
-
You are doing fantastic!! I am back on here again because I refuse to give up, I was having issues sending friend requests, and I see that some profiles don't have the option to send them. I am having issues finding posts I replied too as well. They changed this so much and it's confusing. I hope you are having a wonderful Day1

I feel the same way @Lady_Magenta. So far this has been the worst group app for support I've ever been a part of. People rarely reply to others. It feels like everyone might be suffering from self absorbtion? IDK maybe it's just the clunkiness of replying? But yeah I am 10 pounds down and suffering from everybody seems to care less syndrome also. Good job btw. I care. I've made it my goal to at least respond or post in a meaningful way once a day.3
-
I'm happy if I lose just one pound a week. Losing an average of a little over 3 pounds every week is massively outstanding! Keep it up and keep putting yourself out there, we're all in this together!2
-
Congratulations! I haven't even considered adding the social aspect...I think it would be quite helpful for me. Way to go Lady Magenta!0

Send me a friend request, if you like. This is my second go 'round at MFP, having lost 65 lbs. back in 2012. I know this program works and I know how to do it, but my problem is like yours - I am too damned lonely, and I need motivation. Also, I am a great "pal" to have here as I reply to all posts. I'm 65 and retired, so what else am I gonna do with my time? lol2

Let's change that PennyinTX. We should start a group or a challenge. "Determined Ladies On A Mission" or something like that. Weekly (daily updates, stubbornness, and humor mandatory. Everybody welcome who doesn't use a miracle drug for weight loss (because the comparison is just unfair in my opinion).
I sent you a friend's request but can't figure out how to communicate other than here. Hang in there. I do the same.1 -

Friend request in the mail!
I am busy but MFP is now part of my daily regiment. I am focused and very determined. I will be here for a at least another year. I just answered to Penny's comment. Maybe a group of us, starting a group or a challenge would not be bad idea?0 -
Two months ago, on September 5th, I changed my lifestyle.
Today in the morning my newest, bestest friend, the scale showed 323.1 - I have lost 25 lbs in 60 days. I am so happy and so motivated.
The last 60 days:
- I didn't eat anything with added sugar.
- I didn't eat gluten (because of a health issue) and it has done wonders for me.
- I didn't eat dairy (only vegan substitutions because I have an autoimmune disorder) and I feel great.
- I ate between 1,200 and 1,600 calories a day (but went over my limit twice).
- I have started to move, carefully and slowly.
This is not a diet, this will be my new lifestyle. I have found so many new recipes and instead of pouting what I cannot eat or should not have (health reasons, like glucose), I embrace the new foods and meals that I didn't know anything at all. Who would have thought that I like quinoa?
Thank you all for your friend requests and messages. I feel welcomed here and now I am part of this wonderful family (a loud part).
This week is my birthday and I feel younger than last year when I turned 60. I feel like 50ish. I seem to have more energy and I am making plans for spring.
I really think this time it clicked.

Wow! The changes you’ve made are truly inspiring! It takes so much determination and courage to let go of old habits and embrace new ones that support the life you’re creating for yourself. You’re absolutely right—sometimes we just need a little encouragement from others to keep going. I’m cheering you on and so grateful to have come across your post. It’s a beautiful reminder that this isn’t just a weight loss journey, but a transformative life journey. Congratulations, and a heartfelt thank you for sharing!0

I just re joined continue with your progress, the world today is extremely busy meaning people. I am very willing to share information with you please remember you are not alone and we all go through feelings of loneliness... keep up your progress and Loved your comment!!1
-
Congrats! But as you can see, you're never alone. It's a bit like running a marathon. You're surrounded by thousands of people but during the race, there is no one to talk to. At the end though, lots of chats. Keep it up!1
-
Wow congratulations on your weight loss. Didn't know you can post stuff here. Such a inspiring post. I couldn't give up my chocolates lollies and cakes but everything in moderation. Sometimes with my gastroparesis soft lollies is all that stays down sometimes.1

Time flies! Now I have lost 32.4 lbs and I just founded a group for "Determined Losers" like me
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/147326-determined-losers-on-a-mission-its-not-a-diet-its-a-lifestyle-change
It's a fun journey. A bit puzzling at times but so far I have had fun.
It's a bit lonely here at times. I wish I could communicate with all the friends I have made. Maybe a group can fix that.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you here in the US. Plan mindful and eat healthy2 -

Thank you and good luck with your group and all the challenges.0 -
I hope I will be you in 5 weeks time.
I'm only 11 days in since something switched in my brain and my goal is to lose weight (35+ kgs) by eating mainly whole foods, lowering carbs/sugar/portion sizes and minimizing processed foods.
So far it's going great! I'm actually surprising myself with how easy it feels (apart from the first few days when I had massive headaches).1 -
Lady_Magenta wrote: »My goodness. All of you. THANK YOU!
Now I understand more, having friends here really doesn't make any sense. I looked at the 'groups' but many (too many) don't seem to be active anymore. Maybe I start my own group. "Now or never and never is not an option" :-) or "Embrace your new lifestyle" because this is really what is going on. For the first time in my life, I am serious about losing weight and I don't care how slow or fast it happens, neither do I care how long it will take. This is a forever thing. My blood pressure is now normal. I called my doctor and gloated and bragged.
My glucose levels are out of prediabetic range. It feels like I am getting my life back. I am still so big, but smaller. Nobody notices the weight loss and how could they? I wear tunics and elastic pants.
I criticized my husband's dinner yesterday (which I had prepared lol). It was too unhealthy and it had unnecessary calories, he went for seconds. Who does that? (I did, almost with every meal or I overfilled my plates.)
I walk easier now. I have absolutely no sugar cravings. I haven't ordered it, which was my downfall. I have prepared meals in the fridge and I am experimenting with new recipes. I feel excited.
I will post in this forum and I will participate more. As someone said, perhaps I will greet some of the newbies here because it does sting(k) when nobody answers when you introduce yourself.
Now I feel at home here at MFP. I hope they bring the friendship newsfeed back because, without it, the whole friendship thing doesn't make much sense.
You guys inspired me and motivated me! Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your stories.
I'm not sure why I found your post today, but I did. If you want to check out the 5% Challenges, it is a community that we brought from SP and adapted to MFP's threads, etc. We are finishing the 2024 Fall 5% Challenge and, at this point we are planning our 2025 Winter 5% Challenge that will start right after the New Year. There are team 'races' and also an opportunity to interact with your fellow teammates.
You can check out our current 5% Challenge Community and even join to be able to get updates. Just a thought - you can check out:
