Set my goal to just maintain this round. A trip to MIL's, including Thanksgiving, in between two weekends. Whoof. I won't have a scale 11/25-11/30, and our last weigh-in of this round is the day after a day of road food. I feel like even maintaining is ambitious but I'm going to do the best I can under the circumstances!

11/22 - 129.8!! 🏃🏻♀️📝 Yay, broke into the 120s by the skin of my teeth. Surprising since we went out for an unplanned Brazilian dinner. I chose a steak salad which is was a good choice (and verrrry delicious). I did have 1 beer, which was not a very good choice, but not the end of the world either. The accomplishment was that it lasted until I finished my dinner despite a very long wait for food, and I didn't feel inclined for another when we got home. I ran 6 miles yesterday, and have to walk the dogs and do a short run today. I would like to lift weights but I don't feel too optimistic about fitting it in between 3 meetings and the cardio and other work I have to do. Also want to get the oil changed on my van before we drive 500 miles next week and prep some kind of dinner, maybe chili? Happy Friday!!!
11/23-130.0🏃🏻♀️📝 Not too bad as far as Fridays go. DH took over the weekend meals. He recently went to a conference in Malta and is now on a Mediterranean diet kick which is just fine with me! Last night was spaghetti and salad with toast and good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Tonight is salmon, and I’m sure, salad with olive oil and vinegar. I’m going to see Wicked today and haven’t strategized when and how to eat. Definitely going to have to squeeze lunch in before the 12:25 showing. Maybe I can share a “small” popcorn with DS.
11/24 - 129.6 📝 Wow, never have I ever weighed less on Sunday than Saturday, lol! We’ll see if there is a rebound tomorrow, the last day I’ll have a scale until the last day of the round. When I tracked late last night I ended up around maintenance calories. It’s always kind of a crapshoot though. Today is just getting ready for our big trip tomorrow and trying to not leave the house a total pig sty for the house sitter. Oh and I have to run 4 miles or so. Sunday Funday, the adult version!
11/25 - 130.6 🏃🏻♀️ I’d normally be pleased to be up less than a pound after the weekend but I have to change this trajectory going into a week at MIL’s. Not on track for that on the road today. Breakfast burrito containing fried chicken and bacon, fried chicken wrap and pretzel fries for lunch at Burger King, ugh. I need a salad shop with a playground please?! Dinner will be lasagna after we get there. Trying to drink as much water as I can without increasing bathroom stops. Hoping I can channel some recent success into not being completely off the rails all week!

11/27 - 🏃🏻♀️ DNW. Just checking in as a reminder to myself to think before I eat all the things. Family time has me very busy. My MIL is serving “Swedish dinner” tonight and Thanksgiving tomorrow. I don’t know how she does it; I would be so overwhelmed! My kids have 6 cousins here to play with which is the very best! Good to catch up with sibs-in-law as well. Lake effect snow is predicted Friday-Monday here and we’re leaving Saturday, so I’m a little anxious about that (but also excited to see snow since we hardly got any last winter in VA!)

If I can get through this week without too much further damage then I’m hopeful that things can begin to turn around next week (after my weekend Thanksgiving feast). But I will be tip-toeing from now until then to minimize the damage. I won’t lie, I will be eating pie on Saturday. I only do that twice per year and I’m looking forward to it. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without pie! Otherwise, I’ll be taking the high road and practicing as much portion control as I can muster. It’s a plan!
11/28 -DNW- (Trend weight-DNW-)I completely forgot to weigh in today when I woke up late and hit the floor running. I have spent the day using every vacuum attachment known to man and a bag of rags to clean out every cabinet I own and rinse/dry every pot pan, dish bowl, glass cup and silverware I own due to the drywall dust. Thank goodness our dinner isn’t until Saturday but I’ve worked so hard and feel like I’m running out of time. I’ve made great progress but Wow, this is so much work. Sadly, in January, everything comes back out of the bedroom and sanding drywall resumes. It has been suspended for now due to all the holidays. There are other parts of the project they can work on. I think I slept so late in such comfort because of my bed being back in the bedroom temporarily, even if there are towels and blankets over the windows and no overhead light. My back is killing me but the work is getting done. I’ll have earned that pie(s) by Saturday! I hope all my USA comrades are enjoying your Thanksgiving with lots of special people. Cheers my friends!

It is my understanding that the thread was begun by @hillcrestbaby but I have never seen a post by her(?) My first post was in June, 2017 when I said I would become a regular after 3 short trips with friends. So for me round 7 was the beginning. At the time, I believe @GrandmaJackie was starting all of the rounds. When she needed a break around round 140-ish I think a few of us helped - @TerriRichardson112 , @musicsax and I are the ones I remember. My first “regular” post was 147, I think, and I’ve been doing it ever since with assistance from @musicsax when I’ve been without internet or when MFP changed things and my old brain couldn’t figure it out!
I will be honest and say that recently I have considered passing the torch but I think if I do that I might just drift away and I really don’t want to lose this lifeline. 😘❤️😘❤️
That’s quite true. I also started in Round 7 in June 2017. I have been popping in occasionally to see how you are all doing, but my weight changes so little these days that I have got out of the habit of logging it daily.
I’m still here, though, and it’s good to see so many familiar usernames. So many left when MFP removed the newsfeed.

11/22- 160.4 (72.8 kg) Late night for me. Just got home from seeing Transiberian Orchestra. This is our 3rd or 4th time seeing it. We wait 2-3 years between shows. I forget how loud concerts can be and wish I brought earplugs. But I had a really good time, nonetheless. I'm curious how a Taco Bell quesadilla for dinner and 11pm snack of pudding will affect tomorrow's weigh in. I'm still within calorie goal though.
11/23- 159.5 (72.3 kg) Sometimes I swear the scale works in strange ways. I'm not going to sweat it. Today was a very lazy, totally sedentary day. Tomorrow I'm going to get my butt up and join my husband on the morning dog walk.
11/24- 159.4 (72.3 kg) We went on a mini driving adventure today after walking the dog. We both had gas station snacks for breakfast on the way, and even with a late lunch and a big bowl of zuppa Toscana for dinner, I'm feeling slightly hungry.

36F 5’9Goals: don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
Main struggles:
1. sleeping less (have two puppies, a 6mo and a 10mo old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
2. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.

11/28 - 175.5 - had a great thanksgiving today. Made sauce (Italian, with all the meat/pork, etc) instead of traditional turkey. Reminds me of holidays growing up so that always makes me happy. We moved away from my family a little over 2 years ago so I do miss cooking with my mom and spending time with them, especially around the holidays. But it was still a great day with my fiancé and I and our two dogs. Had a few light snacks during the day while cooking, pasta w/sauce for dinner, and some pie for dessert. Didn’t go crazy tracking my calories on purpose. I think I need to incorporate more of a focus on mindful eating, during the week especially. Most of the time I’m eating just to eat, not because I’m actually hungry. (Still going to log my meals though lol!) Anyways, happy thanksgiving everyone!

🎷 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 279 (my 209th). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine for another round.
This round I’m going to join @Chapter_3 in in a BHAG of 1 pound a round to the end of the year, i.e. to weigh 138 or under. I need to shake myself up cuz only 3-5 days per round staying on the waggon is not sufficient to get me back to where I want to be. 4 pounds would really get me on my way; I want to stay strong, walk the walk as well as talk the talk! & make the round a successful one.
So, goals for this round;
• First and foremost, no feeding frenzies - (carried over from last few rounds)
• to weigh less at the end of the round than the start & a pound is my small BHAG for this round
• be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

11/22 141.8 (trend 142.5) 9.03 miles walked, footpaths were quite dodgy in places with the ice, but just walked these sections gingerly:) Feeling happier in myself now that I’ve made this commitment, hoping to stick with it & keep this mind set, I know as the festive period gets closer it will become more difficult with all the various food-based meeting ups, so need to make the earlier rounds and not “festive gathering” days really count.
11/23 DNW – luckily yesterday the roads had cleared of snow & ice for us to tow the caravan out for a weekend away in Delamere Forest. Managed a 6 mile walk in the forest before darkness descended. Stayed within calorie limit.
11/24 DNW – 5.26 miles clocked up; intermittent rain scuppered our plans! We drove to Chester, plan was to walk the city walls visiting both the castle & the amphitheatre, but had to abandon quite quickly due to Storm Bert rain & wind. We ended up Christmas shopping; it proved to be quite productive, most of the DGC’s presents purchased. Heavy rain, standing water & wind might make todays journey home a bit of a challenge.

11/25 155 My plan for the movie worked out good. Ate only high protein breakfast yesterday, a few nuts and bolts I had made in the afternoon, drank a protein shake right before getting in the car, and then I only ate a little popcorn at the movie. If you have NOT yet seen Wicked, it is absolutely amazing! Feels like you are at live theater, which I LOVE. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

11/27 155.8 That’s a little better because I found my self-control again yesterday even though I made pecan pies and blueberry cobbler by request. The sausage balls are in the fridge where they don't tempt me like they did cooling on the cookie racks. Just need to hold things in check during the next few days. Need to continue to get in my walks each day like I've been doing lately. That would be the one thing I would add to @judefit1 's refrigerator list: Move it like your life depends on it! (because my future quality of life does!)
11/28 156 Happy Thanksgiving! I enjoyed a few of the holiday treats yesterday, but maintained control and balanced out the calories throughout the day. Got in three different exercise sessions—morning workout which was cut a little short by company coming down, a good walk in the afternoon, then before bed yoga. It was a good day!
11/28 157.2 I started to not weigh this morning, but thought better of it. Thanksgiving was a wonderful day with family from here and afar, and a 1.2 lb gain is something I can manage. I have 3 days to get back to a loss for this round, so that will be the goal. I didn’t overeat yesterday, no stuffing of the face and tummy, just ate higher calorie and carb foods than usual. Will focus on protein, water, and activity today.

11/29 170.4 Lots of starchy foods and a wine glass that kept getting filled. All in all not bad for a day that is centered around eating.
I didn’t go wild but it was a bit more than I’m used to.
I did eat a few things out of obligation. Sigh family dynamics bring out certain character traits. My childhood was a bit chaotic based on my DM emotions so I become a people pleaser in familial situations, even if it’s DH’s side of the family. So I ate things I don’t really like to please the people who brought them.
So ridiculous.
My husband becomes a button pusher and the champion of his own inner child. So when my MIL was insisting my nephews to “just eat a few bites” of food they clearly did not like and pushing kids to eat more, he very loudly said they didn’t have to eat anything they didn’t want to.
When she kept pushing, he said to her “what do you know about raising kids that aren’t overweight?”
Yikes!!! Somehow we managed to not have a huge blow up. He was right that kids shouldn’t be forced to eat (at least not at a holiday dinner, trying to get your kid to eat veggies on a random Monday is different) but he was so wrong to call his mom out.
lol so when I ate a big slice of her home made pumpkin pie that I don’t like I guess I was trying to make her feel good! Ugh, food and family is complicated.
My husband also told the boys it was ok to unbutton their too tight collars after his mom told them they needed to stay presentable through dessert. He went so far as unbuttoning two more buttons on his own shirt as an example.

Didn’t post yesterday because I got an early start in the woods looking for Bambi’s mom. (I didn’t find her.)
Even though I burned a lot of calories yesterday, this morning is testament to all the calories-in and almost nothing-out (TMI.) Last night was a little get together for DGD’s 1st birthday. I was not mindful. DW made lima beans which she hates and I LOVE. I rarely see them under my roof. I over indulged.

Getting ready for a house full tomorrow.
Some of you may have heard of a “God Box.” It is box in which you put notes to God. In effect, you are turning it over to Him, taking it out of your hands. So much so that you can just throw the contents of the box away, because it is taken care of.
Yesterday I emptied my God Box. I did something I have been wanting to do for a long while. It needed to happen before I die. (don’t be alarmed. My day of passing is scheduled, but not published by my creator yet) I burned about 30 of my personal journals. They are now ash.
I love to sit and think/write/sketch/process/pray and I have been filling Moleskine journals for years. (decades?) I have spent so much time with them, in a sense they are me… at frozen moments in time. So, why burn them?
1. They are not me. ( But I will keep writing more frozen moments)
2. They are for my eyes only. They might have been interesting to my family someday, but perhaps hurtful too. I wrote like no one would read it. I burned them with full blessing of Joan.
3. There have been some bumps on the life road that I needed to write about. I don’t even want to reread some of it.
4. Some of it would need interpretation, unavailable in my passing. My legacy should not be defined by something I wrote in 1994.
5. They took up a lot of space. 😊

11/25 I started my walk yesterday & decided to turn around because of foot pain on pavement. It’s amazing how my foot is not as impacted on a clay tennis court vs hard surface. Thinking of taking the trail @ local park.

11/26. 131.0 this feels right. I’m more relaxed. Systems finally functioned*** (will note below). Good day 💦yesterday. Only 🚶♀️5k but 🤸🏼🏋️♀️45 min. 1:1 Pg 90. 🎾 today & will finish shopping & begin prepping for Friday. (We host family Friday since everyone is scattered about Thursday!) Going with a Tapas /Spanish theme…. 14 adults /six children.
*** Discovery: I can honestly say that over this year + I have not gone off the rails… I’ve indulged a teeny bit here and there, but that’s about it… I feel like I have developed & worked to ingrain heathy eating & movement/mobility choices/patterns and possess a true North.
What I discovered since Friday is that my IBS is back. We experienced a very stressful family situation & my body retained everything & had a full total system shutdown. The shut down was not from something I ate. It wasn’t a bug! It wasn’t a virus! It was an emotional experience. I’m realizing that my 2 to 3 lb daily fluctuations could be purely emotional - manifesting in a physical shut down. I’ve been puffy for a week and retaining everything, but little difference in food.
Another difference that has taken place recently is my walking has simply disappeared since I hurt my foot… It’s 12 days now. Walking clearly helps my digestive system stay on track. It gives me time to think and breathe… Pray, and be with nature.
So I’m sharing my hypothesis:
Daily fluctuations may not have anything to do with food intake… it could simply be a hitch in bodily systems - caused by emotions, stress, lack of sleep, etc. So I have finally realized that the scale is not only a reflection of what I have eaten… It’s a reflection of my entire being.
Mind, body, soul are intimately connected. I hope sharing this may help someone. (Disclaimer – I am not an expert!!!)

11/29: Slept in and decided to take the day off from the scale, but tomorrow it will happen. A lovely and peaceful Thanksgiving day with DD#2 and her family. I was relatively well-behaved with food, but I did taste the multiple pies made jointly between DD, DGD#1 and myself. A very fun and delicious day.
Going to the gym today for the first time since 10/16 just to use the recumbent bike for a while. It' be good to do something sweaty for the first time!

11/22 - 129.8!! 🏃🏻♀️📝 Yay, broke into the 120s by the skin of my teeth. Surprising since we went out for an unplanned Brazilian dinner. I chose a steak salad which is was a good choice (and verrrry delicious). I did have 1 beer, which was not a very good choice, but not the end of the world either. The accomplishment was that it lasted until I finished my dinner despite a very long wait for food, and I didn't feel inclined for another when we got home. I ran 6 miles yesterday, and have to walk the dogs and do a short run today. I would like to lift weights but I don't feel too optimistic about fitting it in between 3 meetings and the cardio and other work I have to do. Also want to get the oil changed on my van before we drive 500 miles next week and prep some kind of dinner, maybe chili? Happy Friday!!!
11/23-130.0🏃🏻♀️📝 Not too bad as far as Fridays go. DH took over the weekend meals. He recently went to a conference in Malta and is now on a Mediterranean diet kick which is just fine with me! Last night was spaghetti and salad with toast and good olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Tonight is salmon, and I’m sure, salad with olive oil and vinegar. I’m going to see Wicked today and haven’t strategized when and how to eat. Definitely going to have to squeeze lunch in before the 12:25 showing. Maybe I can share a “small” popcorn with DS.
11/24 - 129.6 📝 Wow, never have I ever weighed less on Sunday than Saturday, lol! We’ll see if there is a rebound tomorrow, the last day I’ll have a scale until the last day of the round. When I tracked late last night I ended up around maintenance calories. It’s always kind of a crapshoot though. Today is just getting ready for our big trip tomorrow and trying to not leave the house a total pig sty for the house sitter. Oh and I have to run 4 miles or so. Sunday Funday, the adult version!

Dinner will be lasagna after we get there. Trying to drink as much water as I can without increasing bathroom stops. I don’t know how she does it; I would be so overwhelmed! My kids have 6 cousins here to play with which is the very best! Good to catch up with sibs-in-law as well. Lake effect snow is predicted Friday-Monday here and we’re leaving Saturday, so I’m a little anxious about that (but also excited to see snow since we hardly got any last winter in VA!)

I have spent the day using every vacuum attachment known to man and a bag of rags to clean out every cabinet I own and rinse/dry every pot pan, dish bowl, glass cup and silverware I own due to the drywall dust. Thank goodness our dinner isn’t until Saturday but I’ve worked so hard and feel like I’m running out of time. I’ve made great progress but Wow, this is so much work. Sadly, in January, everything comes back out of the bedroom and sanding drywall resumes. It has been suspended for now due to all the holidays. There are other parts of the project they can work on. I think I slept so late in such comfort because of my bed being back in the bedroom temporarily, even if there are towels and blankets over the windows and no overhead light. My back is killing me but the work is getting done. I’ll have earned that pie(s) by Saturday! I hope all my USA comrades are enjoying your Thanksgiving with lots of special people. Cheers my friends!

36F 5’9Goals: don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
Main struggles:
1. sleeping less (have two puppies, a 6mo and a 10mo old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
2. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.
