OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016.) I was actually at 250 in 2011 or so…
OGW: 199 (just to say I did)
Maintenance Range Goal: 200-205
Simple Goals for this round:
1. Log my food daily; try to eat cleaner and work on portion control.
2. Daily exercise; at least some movement
3. Be mindful, moment by moment.

Didn’t post yesterday because I got an early start in the woods looking for Bambi’s mom. (I didn’t find her.)
Even though I burned a lot of calories yesterday, this morning is testament to all the calories-in and almost nothing-out (TMI.) Last night was a little get together for DGD’s 1st birthday. I was not mindful. DW made lima beans which she hates and I LOVE. I rarely see them under my roof. I over indulged.

With guests in the house I have not weighed the past two days. The scale is in the guest bathroom so I avoid going in there undressed. Just as well. Let’s just say I will be happy by the end of this round to match my SW.
So, I am just checking in to see how you all are doing.
While I am here, I could mention something I may have discovered yesterday. I let my DW be the gate keeper for some of my food choices.
She says “how about a frozen pizza?” I say “heck yes!”
She says “who would eat a Klondike Bar?” I say “of course!”
She just wants to be a gracious host to our guests. I hobo along like I have no choice about what to let in through my gate! (gate = cake hole)
Step one: Don’t blame DW!

Wow, a harsh weekend, and now Thanksgiving is coming up. As usual I am in charge of the bird. Throwing it on the smoker again this year. It is an 18.5 pounder thawing in the fridge since yesterday. I hope it will thaw through by Thursday morning.

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.5 -

I joined this group in Rnd 245 on Dec 18 2023, when I realized I was eating my way through the holidays; I finally got on the scale and was hovering just under 150 lbs. It took about 4 months to reach my goal weight of 125. Sounds great, but I’ve done this before, which is why I’m still here.
It’s not just about losing, it’s about changing the habits of a lifetime that keep me stuck in self-defeating cycles with food.

11/26: getting a handle on my food choices and awareness of what I eat. Before the holidays this is really important as last year I blew it off and, almost 10 lbs later, recovery from the binge was hard. This year I need a strategy, so the plan for the next month is:
1. Enjoy but don't overindulge
2. Cook/bake but don't eat everything! And:
3. Plan where/what treats I choose to taste rather than eating impulsively.
4. Report in here every day.
5. Be patient- and persistent- when the numbers fluctuate. They will.
6. Don't give up, no excuses! It will only be more frustrating on Dec 26.
7. Print this out and put it on the refrigerator.

Agree with the posting of ugly numbers and missteps. It just feels bad. I think we all struggle with that. I’m grateful for this supportive group.

11/24 ⚖️ discouraging even though I’ve stayed on plan. I have a lot of stress (cortisol) & my body is retaining everything. P:E 1:1 P90g. Your posts are encouraging! Today I will 🚶♀️, decompress, take time to smell the roses & 🏋️♀️.
11/25 I started my walk yesterday & decided to turn around because of foot pain on pavement. It’s amazing how my foot is not as impacted on a clay tennis court vs hard surface. Thinking of taking the trail @ local park.
🏋️♀️45 min 💤8 P:E 1:1 Pg 120 under calories.
DGS is in for a morning basketball camp M through W this week. I am the chauffeur and looking forward to it!
11/26. 131.0 this feels right. I’m more relaxed. Systems finally functioned*** (will note below). Good day 💦yesterday. Only 🚶♀️5k but 🤸🏼🏋️♀️45 min. 1:1 Pg 90. 🎾 today & will finish shopping & begin prepping for Friday. (We host family Friday since everyone is scattered about Thursday!) Going with a Tapas /Spanish theme…. 14 adults /six children.
*** Discovery: I can honestly say that over this year + I have not gone off the rails… I’ve indulged a teeny bit here and there, but that’s about it… I feel like I have developed & worked to ingrain heathy eating & movement/mobility choices/patterns and possess a true North.
What I discovered since Friday is that my IBS is back. We experienced a very stressful family situation & my body retained everything & had a full total system shutdown. The shut down was not from something I ate. It wasn’t a bug! It wasn’t a virus! It was an emotional experience. I’m realizing that my 2 to 3 lb daily fluctuations could be purely emotional - manifesting in a physical shut down. I’ve been puffy for a week and retaining everything, but little difference in food.
Another difference that has taken place recently is my walking has simply disappeared since I hurt my foot… It’s 12 days now. Walking clearly helps my digestive system stay on track. It gives me time to think and breathe… Pray, and be with nature.
So I’m sharing my hypothesis:
Daily fluctuations may not have anything to do with the previous days food intake… it could simply be a hitch in bodily systems - caused by emotions, stress, lack of sleep, etc. So I have finally realized that the scale is not only a reflection of what I have eaten… It’s a reflection of my entire being.
Mind, body, soul are intimately connected. I hope sharing this may help someone. (Disclaimer – I am not an expert!!!)

11/24 -186.4- (Trend weight -190.9-)
11/25 -190.8- (Trend weight -190.9-) So I am up 4.4 lbs overnight (from the whoosh yesterday). Easy come, Easy Go. Yes, I double checked the weight yesterday. It is what it is. Even with the unstable and unpredictable swings, I am still down 1.4 lbs since last Monday. Traveled yesterday, back to basics today.
11/26 -191.4- (Trend weight-191.0-) What a mess I am in the middle of. My crew has been sanding their butts off on my primary suite project and the dust is everywhere! Thick!!! To make matters worse, it all has to be cleaned up and all the furniture temporarily moved back in for the holidays including Christmas. All moved in onto the sub floor. Room is not near done but it will have to serve as my bedroom again until after Christmas. It will be nice to have my living room back as that is where my bed has been and where I’ve been sleeping. Everything is covered in a fine mist and the floor was covered in heaps and piles through the entire main floor over these past few days. I just couldn’t keep up. I worked my butt off yesterday and will be back at it again today using the shop vac etc. Last night I got 4 blinds cleaned in two rooms. I worked until my arms fell off. I did not eat good but I did burn a lot of extra calories. I just have to get through this. Our family Feast will be on Saturday. I'm still down 1.8 lbs since last Tuesday so I'm happy even though there is room for even more improvement.

11/26 - 158.6 - I'll take it! I'm a tad sore from leg day yesterday but nothing so bad I'd expect an increase. I was within macros yesterday, though on the higher end. I absolutely did not want to get up this morning but I pushed through for back day and had a very solid workout. Today is my last day of work before vacation so I just need to get through! Food is planned out and pre-logged for today and I'm about 25g shy for carbs but that's easy enough to make up for. Feeling pretty good. I had forgotten until this morning that I have a concert out-of-town on Friday evening and overnight stay through Saturday to account for as well so I'll need to be really mindful. At least I can plan ahead now!

11/25 - How have I missed so many days?! I swear I posted Saturday but maybe I just thought I did? Oh well. I'm rather shocked I'm not up more today as I had wine and a last-minute change in dinner. I was over my fat goal by 13g (3g with buffer) and under carbs by 19g (9 with buffer) but that's close enough for an unplanned change in meals. Gym today complete. It is closed Thursday for Thanksgiving so I really need to focus on getting there tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday. Wednesday and Friday I'm off work so it'll be that much harder to get up and go but my health is a priority so I'll manage. Coach is keeping macros for one more week since we just changed last week but plans to up me a bit more next week. She also wants to gift me some workout programming as an early Christmas gift as a thank you for being a model client - she tells me what to do and I execute consistently. I'm not perfect, but I put in the effort and she recognizes that. I'm excited to see what she has in store (: I'll start that Monday

Operation Thanksgiving is now at full tilt. Leaves are raked, windows are clean, turkey is thawing in the fridge, pies are made and in the freezer, shopping is mostly done. Today is the finalization of cornbread dressing day done bit by bit, squeezed in at lunch and as time allows – today involves a lot of chopping of onions and celery. I made turkey stock over the weekend and cornbread last night, (and didn’t even nibble!) Maybe I’ll get the tablecloth ironed while I watch something on TV tonight – which is treat for me. It doesn't have to be such a to do, but it's my legacy burden and I am leaning into it. As the youngest of six, my older siblings have alway been there for me over the years and this is one thing I can do.

@judefit1 - this is going on my fridge! Especially # 2,4,6,5,3,1,7 haha1.
7. Print this out and put it on the refrigerator.5 -
@quiltingjaine - I have wondered about the history of JGMTD. As we are now on round 279, that is 2790 days, or 7.64 YEARS. How did you happen to take it over, and when?4

36F 5’9Goals: don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
Main struggles:
1. sleeping less (have two puppies, a 6mo and a 10mo old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
2. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.

11/22- 160.4 (72.8 kg) Late night for me. Just got home from seeing Transiberian Orchestra. This is our 3rd or 4th time seeing it. We wait 2-3 years between shows. I forget how loud concerts can be and wish I brought earplugs. But I had a really good time, nonetheless. I'm curious how a Taco Bell quesadilla for dinner and 11pm snack of pudding will affect tomorrow's weigh in. I'm still within calorie goal though.
11/23- 159.5 (72.3 kg) Sometimes I swear the scale works in strange ways. I'm not going to sweat it. Today was a very lazy, totally sedentary day. Tomorrow I'm going to get my butt up and join my husband on the morning dog walk.
11/24- 159.4 (72.3 kg) We went on a mini driving adventure today after walking the dog. We both had gas station snacks for breakfast on the way, and even with a late lunch and a big bowl of zuppa Toscana for dinner, I'm feeling slightly hungry.
11/25- 159.8 (72.5 kg) One day down this week. Hoping to work less than a full day on Thanksgiving.
11/26-159.3 (72.3 kg) I cannot believe how fast this year is going by. Only a couple days from Thanksgiving and less than a month to Christmas! I'm going to decorate my tree this weekend.

🎷 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 279 (my 209th). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine for another round.
This round I’m going to join @Chapter_3 in in a BHAG of 1 pound a round to the end of the year, i.e. to weigh 138 or under. I need to shake myself up cuz only 3-5 days per round staying on the waggon is not sufficient to get me back to where I want to be. 4 pounds would really get me on my way; I want to stay strong, walk the walk as well as talk the talk! & make the round a successful one.
So, goals for this round;
• First and foremost, no feeding frenzies - (carried over from last few rounds)
• to weigh less at the end of the round than the start & a pound is my small BHAG for this round
• be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

SW RND 279 141.8
11/22 141.8 (trend 142.5) 9.03 miles walked, footpaths were quite dodgy in places with the ice, but just walked these sections gingerly:) Feeling happier in myself now that I’ve made this commitment, hoping to stick with it & keep this mind set, I know as the festive period gets closer it will become more difficult with all the various food-based meeting ups, so need to make the earlier rounds and not “festive gathering” days really count.
11/23 DNW – luckily yesterday the roads had cleared of snow & ice for us to tow the caravan out for a weekend away in Delamere Forest. Managed a 6 mile walk in the forest before darkness descended. Stayed within calorie limit.
11/24 DNW – 5.26 miles clocked up; intermittent rain scuppered our plans! We drove to Chester, plan was to walk the city walls visiting both the castle & the amphitheatre, but had to abandon quite quickly due to Storm Bert rain & wind. We ended up Christmas shopping; it proved to be quite productive, most of the DGC’s presents purchased. Heavy rain, standing water & wind might make todays journey home a bit of a challenge.
11/25 141 (trend 142.1) numbers looking better 😊, but must not get complacent. Again, no structured walking due to the weather.
11/26 141 (trend 142) – 10.71 miles walked.
11/27 141.6 (trend 141.9) – 8.87 miles walked, out pounding the pavements at 7.30 am before meeting up with DSs for lunch, stuck to an omelette & undressed salad. I’ve started drinking hot water in this cold weather and it really is not bad!!

11/27 167.2 That is a bit more of a dip than I expected but I’ll take it. I had a “too busy to eat” day so I’m glad I prepped a big salad early in the day so when I was ravenous at 6pm there was a meal ready to go. If not I probably would have been eating take out or ice cream.
I also prioritized my workout even though I had to stop what I was doing to get to barre class. I like my exercise to be at a non negotiable time slot and organized by someone else.
I don’t want to have to think, just do. Left to my own devices I tend to procrastinate and end up skipping or cut my workouts short. In a group setting I don’t get to do 10 reps instead of 12 or say 30 seconds will do instead of 50. I can’t skip the parts I hate. Mountain climbers!
I know that with exercise I used to give myself permission to cut corners. So I took that part out of the equation.
Although I sometimes I debate myself if stopping painting a room to get to the gym at 8:45am is the best use of my time (yesterday), ultimately I almost always choose the workout.

@judefit1 You nailed it! Those are the steps to a healthy holiday season. Now I envision myself a warrior clutching my battle plans, sword drawn charging into battle!!!
Sounds dramatic but that’s the kind of energy I need to bring in order to keep my head in the game. And to be honest aren’t we all fighting for our health and our best life? I can think of very little else that deserves this kind of energy!
And no I’m not fighting my body- I’m fighting for it.8 -

Nope, I didn’t get nearly as much done at work or home yesterday as I’d posted and hoped I would. Back at it today. Hopefully my short night’s sleep will not impede today’s progress.
@_JefferyD_ - I'm worried, too! I put my frozen turkey on the kitchen counter for an hour or so a couple times yesterday before popping back in fridge. Still hard as a rock
@Chapter_3 - I'm with you on missing walking. It helps mentally and physically. While my month-long rest has helped my bursitis, my weight loss has stalled, so I get it. So sorry you're going through a rough patch right as the holiday season starts. <<Hugs>>

11/22 157 Weight was creeping up the last 5 days of last round. Went out to eat last night and the food was delicious. But, I’ve got to get a grip on things again and stop the creep. This is a dangerous time of year for me, and I know it! “Danger, Will Robinson!”
11/23 156.8 I did well yesterday and hoped for a bigger drop this morning. Patience, I guess.
11/24 156 That’s better. Going to see Wicked tonight at the theater, so dinner will be popcorn. Have to manage the rest of the day to allow for that, but I’m looking forward to the movie! Will focus on high protein the rest of the day. Will also be beginning the Thanksgiving baking today, so…wish me luck!
11/25 155 My plan for the movie worked out good. Ate only high protein breakfast yesterday, a few nuts and bolts I had made in the afternoon, drank a protein shake right before getting in the car, and then I only ate a little popcorn at the movie. If you have NOT yet seen Wicked, it is absolutely amazing! Feels like you are at live theater, which I LOVE. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
11/26 156.8 Made sausage balls. Need I say more? Lol
11/27 155.8 That’s a little better because I found my self-control again yesterday even though I made pecan pies and blueberry cobbler by request. The sausage balls are in the fridge where they don't tempt me like they did cooling on the cookie racks. Just need to hold things in check during the next few days. Need to continue to get in my walks each day like I've been doing lately. That would be the one thing I would add to @judefit1 's refrigerator list: Move it like your life depends on it! (because my future quality of life does!)

11/26. 131.0 this feels right.
Daily fluctuations may not have anything to do with food intake… it could simply be a hitch in bodily systems - caused by emotions, stress, lack of sleep, etc. So I have finally realized that the scale is not only a reflection of what I have eaten… It’s a reflection of my entire being.
Mind, body, soul are intimately connected. I hope sharing this may help someone. (Disclaimer – I am not an expert!!!)

@blueberries59 and @Chapter_3 : I've been through other injuries and surgeries, but having one's foot out of commission is really tough- it's the foundation of movement, and for me that's the foundation of wellness. I'm glad you're both doing better now!
@ everyone who commented: glad my self-reminders hit a note for you! I taped it to the pantry shelf- more damage there than the refrigerator!8 -

11/27: seems this is where I'll live for a bit. I got full permission to drop the crutches and put on a sneaker instead of the surgical boot! So today I'm going to celebrate by a short ride on the recumbent bike at the gym! Not too much to do today, which is "pie day"- DGD #1 wants to do them, and I've relinquished control (mostly willingly )8 -

Getting ready for a house full tomorrow.
Some of you may have heard of a “God Box.” It is box in which you put notes to God. In effect, you are turning it over to Him, taking it out of your hands. So much so that you can just throw the contents of the box away, because it is taken care of.
Yesterday I emptied my God Box. I did something I have been wanting to do for a long while. It needed to happen before I die. (don’t be alarmed. My day of passing is scheduled, but not published by my creator yet) I burned about 30 of my personal journals. They are now ash.
I love to sit and think/write/sketch/process/pray and I have been filling Moleskine journals for years. (decades?) I have spent so much time with them, in a sense they are me… at frozen moments in time. So, why burn them?
1. They are not me. ( But I will keep writing more frozen moments)
2. They are for my eyes only. They might have been interesting to my family someday, but perhaps hurtful too. I wrote like no one would read it. I burned them with full blessing of DW.
3. There have been some bumps on the life road that I needed to write about. I don’t even want to reread some of it.
4. Some of it would need interpretation, unavailable in my passing. My legacy should not be defined by something I wrote in 1994.
5. They took up a lot of space. 😊
I am thankful.

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.9 -
Hi old friends, its been a long time. Not sure if restarting Thanksgiving week is the smartest, but I've reached a new low recently and am trying to come out of the cave I've been in the past few months.
This year has been weighted down with so much pain and loss, I couldn't pretend I was handling it well any more and finally broke under the pressure. As the lifetime go-to couch therapist/cheerleader for friends and family somehow they didn't know how to return the favor. I learned when most people ask how are you? they really don't want to know the truth if it makes them uncomfortable. They'd much rather you lied as usual, and said some version of I'm fine, so they can smile and continue talking about themselves.
Well I'm not fine, and haven't been for a long time. I finally accepted that and let myself fall. Which turned into withdrawal, depression, isolation and inactivity. I didn't think my diet was the worst, but when I finally looked up, I'd regained 20 pounds. A bout of diverticulitis made it worse.
I fell apart completely, but am finally looking at it as a blessing in disguise. A caterpillar completely liquifies itself before forming its wings and the phoenix only rises from the ashes.
So here I am, making myself accountable to myself in new ways hoping to break the cycle I'm in. I've been easing back into things the past week or so, and even started working on developing a new group hoping that helps me help others as I learn to help myself.
My last weigh-in July I was 196. I realized today ~ @ 219.8 ~ I weigh more than when I began my first round almost a year ago. Dreading taking new photos as it makes me quite sad to see my failures reflected back at me, but hopeful this is the year it finally all comes together as I'm no longer lying to myself.

July Goals: Starting over 7/12 ~ lost six weeks of progress and regained 7 pounds adjusting to new third shift work schedule. They call it graveyard for a reason!!! My exercise, water and step count have all also dropped considerably. Goals this month are simply to lose as much as possible building momentum and getting back in the groove.
June Goals: Having gotten as low as 193 in both April and May, I'd like to drop below that in June. (FAIL)
6/5 - 196.8
6/6 - 195.1
6/7 - 195.3 (LAST DAY REPORTING)
MAY 1st SW: 197.3 | EW: 196.8
MAY Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat ❎❎❎
May 22: I had packed some shorts to change into after swim without trying them on. They were so tight last summer, I expected the fit to be better ~ but when I put them on ... wow. I was in front of the locker room mirrors and was like omg, that's you. How long has it been since you looked/felt like that? I was spinning around looking at myself for a good 2-3 minutes, y'all, lol ~ my New #1NSV
May 4: 10 of the 20 inches lost was off my belly! No pics, no proof, lol ~ I love/hate taking photos because they've become one of my best tools. You can't lie and you can't hide. Putting myself on blast 1) creates incentive to increase effort and 2) highlights new areas to focus on. Still a long way from my ultimate goals, but its nice to see muscle memory is real! At a size 15, I haven't been this small in more than 10 years.
APRIL 1st SW: 198.2 | EW: 197.8
Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat ❎❎❎
Lost less than a pound, 1.25 inches combined on arms and legs | regained 0.2% body fat and 1/2 inch back on my belly. Starting dietary 200-400 calorie deficit and Intermittent Fasting 18-24 hrs. Breaking fast differently, including more protein, and continuing to look for new ways to increase step count and add more strength in May.
Reaching onederland (March 13th) meant the end of 10+ years and up to 80 pounds!! gained and relost too many times to count. Yo-yoing is the main reason for so much body fat!!! Determined not to continue to self-sabotage ... I need a new target!! If I should lose an additional 8% body fat to reach the "standard" for my age, height and sex ~ and up to 15% more to reach excellent ~ that's @ least another 8-15 months of work before I can begin to relax and think maintenance.
January 1st - April 1st, I've lost 17 pounds and a total of 20.8 inches from 11 areas. 🥳 Thrilled to see my hard work reversing prediabetes and years of physical damage. Getting leaner and stronger and chair dancing proud of myself about it!! 57 and hormonal, it's taken longer than expected and a much rougher road than my youth.7 -
