    Thank you, @Walela617 !
I'm Chris - 74 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
My husband and I are retired.
I see my trainer for 60 mins three days a week and try to walk the other four days. The walking doesn't always work out since we have our Grandson every morning. He's 2 years old and a pistol!!

Hi everyone! Happy weekend! All are welcome and it's never too late to jump right in, wherever you are!

I haven't been so good with logging and activities over the past couple of days, but I promise to do better, beginning this Sunday!

I will check back in tomorrow.

    Welcome, Jo @chocolatemint!

I joined Weight Watchers at 217 lbs. back in 2009, and got down to just under 140 lbs. over a ~2-year period. I even have my "Lifetime" key charm on my keyring still; however, I agree with you that their new system has way too many "free" foods!

I have lost and regained so many pounds since then - I even went all the way back up to 188 at one point when I was unable to sustain my activity level following am injury and slipped back into a pattern of "stress- eating". (Anxiety makes me ravenous!)

It's all about balancing intake and activity to create a calorie deficit equivalent the amount we want to lose. If we want to lose one pound per week, we would need to have a deficit of an average of 500 calories per day. If we burn more via activity, we can eat more; for example, combining 250 less calories with 250 calories burned through activity. (That's a lot easier that trying to cut 500 calories per day!)

Now I'm in the lower 150's. I'd like to lose ten pounds by Spring and get to goal BMI (25 or below) by Summer. Together, we can DO this!

    Best wishes!
    💗 Carole

Hello everyone! I’ve used this app in the past, and now I’m back at it again b/c I need to lose 40lbs.

Add me as a friend to have as an accountability partner! I look forward to tracking macros and getting lean with you all.

To add, Weigh-in Wednesdays works well for me!

Welcome @tammierlewis! I'm so sorry to hear that your home got flooded during Helene and that you lost your treasured photos and treadmill! You're pretty tough to come through all that!

Our weights are very close! It's never too late to start.

    Best wishes!

@tammierlewis I'm so sorry you were a victim of Hurricane Helene and lost so much in damages from the flooding. Prayers to you and your family. I am glad you are safe and hope you are rebuilding.

I am very interested in joining your group and hope i can contribute. I have had a difficult time understanding how these communities work as far as posting and keeping up but really like being engaged with others on the journey. I lost 60 lbs last year and have been maintaining fairly well. I'm working on building muscle to improve saggy skin areas and that is causing my # to creep up. The holidays didn't help but I thoroughly enjoyed the splurge. Just trying to get my head right to be slow and steady and maintain good habits to stay fit. The old urge to cut calories to get there quicker is sneaking in so I need some accountability. Sorry for the long post but I hope I have found my people 😊 and appreciate the ps about no romantic inquiries. That is another app, lol!

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope that everyone had a nice weekend!

I have been continuing to keep up the exercise, even though it has been very cold here. Will likely have to shovel snow again today, plus I have been trying to add some dumbell exercises and things inside on days that I am not running/walking.

Yesterday was the first day that I counted calories since mid November. I am proud of myself for finally doing that again. It's HARD to get back to it after I stop counting! I don't have too much trouble with it once I'm in the habit, but it's so hard to come back to it.

Weight (I know it's not weigh-in Wednesday yet, but I do try to weigh myself most days) has been pretty much staying stable, which is frustrating, but at least it's not going up!

Welcome, all new (and returning) members!

@MaryM6316, I agree with you about the "slow and steady" approach to building good habits to get and stay healthier.

@ScienceofTeaching Shoveling burns a LOT of calories, plus it's good for your muscles as well as cardiovascular benefits. Your body also burns more calories trying to stay warm. You can weigh yourself as often as you like. (I'm only doing once per week because otherwise, I go NUTZ with the day-to-day fluctuations!)

I met my future cat this past Saturday; she was very shy because she doesn't know me yet. We are planning to bring her home on MLK Jr. weekend. Here is a picture of her:

She's over three years old but she is very tiny (kitten-sized) compared to my former cats. She looks like she only weighs about 7-8 lbs., if that. (My former cats ranged from 12-15 lbs. and sometimes even more than that) They were both females, as is this one.

Enjoy the rest of your day,

That is a precious baby. We rescued our youngest 1-1/2 years ago, he was hiding in our barn. 2 cats 1 dog. They keep us on our toes and give lots of love. Best of luck to you and your new kitty 😺
