I had a slow year, Started Zumba in January'24, injured my back which took until June to get properly diagnosed. I needed a walking stick to get anywhere and assistance to stand up.
Turned out I have degenerative disc disease, 2 other slipped discs, and osteoarthritis arthritis in my spine, hips, and knees,(and neck & shoulders but I knew that previously 😆)
Physio has helped as I'd lost a lot of strength in my leg and glutes muscles, and can now manage between 2-5km a day all be it with a stick still, but without daily painkillers.
As for weight, I'm only down 7½kg on the year but it was enough to get out of the "obese" category, now according to my GP I'm "overweight". 🎉
My target for this year is to lose the final 28kg, I'm hoping now my mobility is improving,I'll be able to achieve it.
Good luck to everyone for this year. 💞

Over the past year, I successfully gained 10 kg through consistent effort and lifestyle changes. By focusing on a balanced diet, increasing my calorie intake, and maintaining a regular exercise routine, I achieved steady weight gain. Whether it was adding more protein-rich foods, strength training, or improving my overall nutrition, this journey has helped me feel healthier and stronger.

Was trying to lose weight in 2024 and gained 7pounds.
In September, left my 30-year career.
Starting 2025 with a much more relaxed mindset with a plan to lose my 30 pound Covid+menopause weight gain.

My story is somewhat like yours, I am 60 years old and last May found out I was prediabetic. My B/P, though high all my life has been hitting 158/104 often. It has never been that high and I already take 2 blood pressure pills. I weighed in at 231 and felt awful. I wasn't moving much (I have had pain in my hip for about 1 1/2 years). I started what I call mindful eating, (this did include calorie counting) which helped me to establish proper serving sizes. I didn't want to "diet", been there done that but can't maintain those lifestyles. Living on 20 carbs the rest of my life wasn't happening.

Well we are almost one year in, in 5 months I lost 40 lbs. But since November I have been stuck, plus my blood pressure was no better. I quit smoking 3 weeks ago and my blood pressure is now holding its own well, though I am still on those 2 pills a day. My goal is to get off at least one of those. I also have recently started walking. I am not too many days in on the walking but first day I got in .75 of a mile in 20 minutes. Not bad for the hip pain I have, but that is improving as well. I am hitting 7000 to 9000 steps this week so I am hopefully that I am making things better.

The weight not budging is frustrating but I know I am getting healthier just the same and I feel better. That has to count.

@angiem65 I have stalling since February (weight-wise) and it's frustrating. I had a total thryoidectomy and the new medications (synthetic hormone) comes with lovely side effects like weight gain, also I think the doses is too low. I have blood work done on Saturday and a doctor's appointment on Monday.

But like you, I am healthier then I have been last year. I am close to a 50-pound weight loss and I am more mobile. I move easier, and considering that I am 61 years old and still a tad over 300 pounds, that's remarkable all by itself. One day I will be where you are.

As for being diabetic? That's off the table. My morning glucose is in the 80's and my A1C was 5.5 the last time, should be lower now. My blood pressure is not in the 120's - 80's and my pulse rate is much lower.

It's a lifestyle change and I am in it for life. There are days when it's harder, and there are days when I fall back into old habbits, but not for long. I am a work in progress (without weight loss meds if I may add.)
