@globalhiker you are my hero. You are doing amazingly well!

I fell off the thread this week. I was really out of sorts for no apparent reason, but feeling much better now. I only had one AF day this week, and only one LA day. So, I’m now ready to recommit to lowering my alcohol consumption and getting to the gym regularly. Going to an exhibit in NYC today, but limiting myself to two drinks. Tomorrow, a hike and then AF until Thursday. Feels good to be back on track.

@Womona I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better.
I still haven't gotten my act together for this month. I'm really ready though. Drinking for days or weeks in a row doesn't leave you feeling well. It's supposed to be 65° today and I would like to get out in the yard and do a little work. But, my balance and coordination aren't 100% again. So, I'll try to do what I can.
I don't belong to a gym. We have one about a mile from here. But most of the exercises that I do, I can do at home. I like to do floor exercises for the core (abdominals, back, and pelvic floor) and some hip work. I mentioned the book I really like before. But it's called "6-Minute Core Strength" by Dr Jonathan Su, DPT.
I haven't been to our gym in a while. So I'm not sure if they have an area for floor work (possibly upstairs). But I feel self-conscious doing floor work in front of people. I also have a complete set of hex dumbbells (5, 8, 10, 15, 20 and 25lb) and a decent set of Fitcord resistance bands, handles, ankle straps and anchors. I also have an exercise ball and wedges (I use them for calf raises. But many people use them for squats and lunges).
I may join our gym with my husband though…just to motivate him to go. Plus, I do like the leg press machine, inner/outer thigh machine, stair climber among other things.
And with the weather warming up, we'll be doing a lot of walking. We have a bike path behind our house, a lake about a mile away that has a trail all around it. It's a pretty big lake. So, we would have to work up to it. We also have an old log pond that the city recently developed with a walking path all around it. Again, I think it is a couple of miles around, so we'll have to work up to that one too.
I'll report back when I've made some progress. You know I don't like to announce ahead…but I think I can be AF by Monday.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Had a some Chardonnay last night after mindfully perusing the nicer bottles at Safeway and selecting a varietal from San Luis Obispo. Definitely enjoyed some over the course of 3-4 hours and stopped at half (12 ounces).
Will be picking up garden soil today and doing some light work in the backyard then will take a hike with DH tomorrow.
I have plenty of good N.A. choices here for the weekend. Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward before bed tonight!

@globalhiker I know how much you love that Mexican restaurant and so sorry it was just a super crazy bizarre experience yesterday. Obviously not the normal enjoyment you experience. Yet, you pushed through all the temptations, thoughts, and justifications to order a drink and did not. That’s a big deal and you can be really proud.

@Womona So good to hear you’re doing okay and doing a U-turn on this LA journey.

Great to see you in here again.

I know just how you felt. Nothing worse than having an event crushed you have been looking to unfold a particular way. Good luck there during your next visit.

Good thing is I know you like to be alcohol free when your grand kids are there. You got this.

5 days of aquatics this week.
Some poor food choices yesterday, back on target again.
Ready to power walk for 30minutes in the sunshine. So far no rain.
Have a successful weekend.

No wine since Thursday. Son had his JrROTC military ball last night, my daughter is at a church youth retreat this weekend, and I have tons of leftovers in the fridge. So, I went to get my nails done today and went for my first walk all week and picked up litter. It’s been cold and wet this past week, but I was also working a lot. My meetings were scheduled to where I couldn’t take a walk. But, you could definitely tell I hadn’t been picking up trash for a week…
This is a 55-gallon trash bag in one of our outside cans (bungee corded to the wagon, so I could pull it while I walked) completely filled plus the boxes I picked up that couldn’t fit in the bag. I DO NOT understand why people litter. How hard is it to wait until you get home to throw that bottle or can in the trash? And the amount of liquor bottles, mini and full-sized bottles just chucked empty on the side of the road.😡

NonnieDoiron, thank you for doing your part to clean up. I frequently pick up trash around my community and I agree….why can't people wait until they get home to dispose of their mess? It is frustrating.
If anyone can advise me how to highlight a users name ( like Nonnie here) I would appreciate it. I am not a fan of this new format .
Day 8 AF.

My March:
AF: 2
A: 6
Had a rough start to this month AF-wise: got word a friend passed away; had my birthday; went to friend's viewing.
But, dinner for my birthday involved one 9-ounce glass of wine and a switch to herbal tea when we got home. The waitress asked if I wanted a 6 or 9 ounce glass, and I knew if I ordered the 6 ounce I would have ordered a second, so I opted for 9 instead of ending up with 12. This is quite a win for me, normally I would use my birthday as an excuse to drink all night (and part of the day).
Last night was AF, and I'm planning on at least today and Monday to be AF also.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend, and thank you all for continuing to be here, and for being soooo inspiring!

@SunnyDays930 You can highlight a user's name the same way as before. Type the "@" sign and then copy and paste (or just type the user's name after the symbol). Just remember that usernames are case sensitive. For instance, if I typed your username in all lowercase it would not be highlighted. As you are typing the user's name a list should start appearing and you can select their name from the list. If the username isn't in the list you might check that you've spelled it right with the right case. My username has a capital S and capital G. So you have to take notice of that.
Although, I'm using the web version. So I hope this was helpful.

Happy sweet Birthday to you, @SparkSpringtime69! Your wine choice at dinner does sound like a big win — opting for one 9 ounce glass instead of two 6 ounce pours. Also, warm condolences on the loss of your friend. I’m sure the viewing was difficult as they usually are. I hope you can relax today.

Happy Belated Birthday @SparkSpringtime69!

Bittersweet for sure. 😔 homage to your lost friend and congrats on your birthday and birthday drink win🎉
3 -
@NonnieDoiron you are a true trash warrior. That is an amazingly troubling amount of trash people have recklessly discarded.

@SunnyDays930 Not liking it either.
While typing it will back up my next word behind the previous word( 🤬🤬🤬it JUST DID IT NOW)
Change is not always good

@SunnyDays930 You're welcome! You're doing great this month. I be coming along with the rest of you soon!
Off to play the slot machines 😊

@SparkSpringtime69 happy belated birthday! I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Hugs to you! Good call on getting the 9 oz. That is a win!
@NonnieDoiron thanks for all you do to clean up the roads. I can’t stand litter either. Some , I’m sure , is from trash blowing off recycling cans on a windy day, but mostly I think it’s just people being gross. We need to re-run the old “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute” ads again! I am a Rotarian, and twice a year we clean up a section of a main road. We pick up soooo many of those little Fireball bottles, among other trash. Who is drinking and driving in this day and age????
@SurferGirl1982 sounds like you have the perfect set-up! No reason to join the gym. I actually have weights, bands, etc downstairs, but I just hate going to the basement even though it’s finished. We joined our local gym, but it’s huge and has a lot of different classes, such as spin, Pilates, etc. I need a scheduled class, otherwise I never seem to get a workout in.My biggest reason for joining is that they have both an indoor and outdoor pool. We lost access to a pool when we changed golf clubs, so it was a no-brainer. However, we didn’t use it once last year because of the boat…. Oh well!

I caved yesterday and had a glass of wine, but it was only one. Today -Wed is AF. I asked my husband to be a support on this- specifically to not pour me a glass of wine even if I ask for one! The good news is that my weight is finally coming down a touch, and I’m sure it has to do with cutting down on alcohol.
Have a great day everyone!

OK help me out folks. If I want to reply directly to someone’s post, I used to be able to click on “quote”, and the post I want to reference would appear and I could just type my reply. Now, it won’t let me do that. It looks like it will… but when I go to type my reply the quote doesn’t appear. Sometimes the whole purpose is so that I don’t have to type out someone’s username-it’s just easier.
DidI miss the tutorial? Help!1 -
it’s just a tick too cold here to start gardening, but the daffodils are starting to pop up and I see buds in the trees!
