According to my NOMO app, I have saved $660.00 by not buying alcohol. I am going to buy a walking pad ( a smaller version of a treadmill) I have seen them on line and they are very reasonable. I'm buying the kind with a bar to hold onto…they have them without but I don't need to fall off of this thing. I figure I will use it while watching TV.
Happy St. Patrick's Day. I'll be staying home and experiencing JOMO….Joy of Missing out of wasting money, a headache, and morning anxiety.

@itladyee Glad you're feeling better! Sounds like you had a relaxing few days even if you were recovering
@SurferGirl1982 Hope you enjoyed your margaritas (extra salt, please), and you find your way back to AF today. I'm super impressed you were able to gamble without drinking! If you can do that, you can do anything!
@Michieb125 Good job shaking off the wine devil and hope your mom is making a recovery!
@SunnyDays930 Nice AF streak going! I love that you're rewarding yourself with something to improve your health!
@tmbg1 Your numbers are looking good for March!
@shamac35153 My brilliant diversion plan is to sip seltzer and if that doesn't work, go to bed 🤣
@MissMay Thank you for continuing this thread and always being so so supportive!
@globalhiker Thank you for the relaxation suggestions and the encouragement that the anxiety levels come down eventually.
@NonnieDoiron THAT was a lot of garbage! Hope your work life settles down soon!
AF last night with a little green tea to detox 🤪 I did get a weight workout in yesterday. I got up early to walk this morning, but I'm feeling a little lazy, so I made coffee and read a little instead. Hopefully, I feel like doing it after work.
Have a great day, all!
AF = 5 and A = 11 (I think I had my numbers messed up in my previous post)

☘St. Patrick's Day greetings🍀
This 1/3 Irish gal will not be drinking anything green today (though a shamrock shake sounds tempting)
Today marks the beginning of the 8th week of aquatics.
2 weeks of 4 days/week
5 weeks of 5 days/week
I am darn serious about getting my muscle back.
Set my sites on a long term 12 week goal. 4 more to go to check my results.

Feeling great overall, but I noticed I’ve gained 2 lbs since going AF for Lent. I think I may have been indulging a bit too much in sugar snacks as a replacement. 😬 Now that I’ve realized this, I’m committing to inputting all my meals this week to stay accountable and avoid any extra indulgence.
For today’s AF St. Patty's Day dinner, I’m keeping it fun with a soda water, lime, and a drop of green food coloring for some festive vibes! 🍀✨
AF = 12
A = 4

The sugary cravings are pretty typical @margim5 (and I have also experienced) when we’re cutting back on the A.
You are aware and have a great plan going forward! Your stats are phenomenal-you should be very proud!

Welp. Now that I've had a 1400 calorie lunch at the new pizza buffet in town, a walk is a must do not an "if I feel like it."

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️
In past years, my husband and I would buy Guinness and Irish whiskey and host an Irish dinner. It was fun but a distant memory! He stopped drinking 10 years ago and my son quit about 2 years ago. I never drank either of those choices but they are a holiday ritual for some people. I will still make a corned beef dinner (I’m almost 1/2 Irish) and enjoy without any alcohol!
Set up my new weekly targets for the week ahead. We’re going on a little 4-days getaway and I’m planning on allowing 2/4 days of wine (2 glass limit).
Last week my tracker logged 8 glasses of wine over my 3 allowed days — this week I’m aiming for 6 glasses or less.

@chicbuc I didn't mind drinking water while I was gambling. I think it helps. I think it made me more sensible. When I'm drinking, I'll be losing, but I think it makes perfect sense to keep putting 20's in the machine.
Welp…my husband and I went for a walk yesterday. But it wasn't planned 😕 We were having some serious rain and we got Emergency alerts on our phones…Extreme flood alert! It was flooded a bit on our street. But, of course, we had to go check it out.
To make a long story short…we went through an area where the water was too deep and the car stalled. I called AAA, but they said they weren't going out to the flood zones. So, our only choice was to hoof it back home in knee deep water. And it was freezing…it had also started snowing. I was wearing shorts, a jacket, and tennis shoes. The moral of the story is…if you get an emergency alert…do what they say 🤔 I did get the car towed home eventually, but it won't start. I have an appointment on Thursday with our auto shop.
My AF plans are on hold again. But I will be back on track very soon.
Happy St Patty's Day everyone!

@SurferGirl1982 Glad you guys are OK. Flood waters can be extremely dangerous. I am so sorry about your car but thankfully you were not swept away. 🙏 I hope your car can be repaired.

It was a horrible weekend for weather again. 9 states getting slammed by tornadoes. More death (over 40) from weather related incidents.
We were one of the areas with tornado warnings. Thank goodness all we had was kinda high winds. And I only had 2 windows screens that blew out.
Some days when I watch the weather channel I get the impression this planet wants all of us to leave. 😪
@SurferGirl1982 fingers crossed your car can be repaired.

I'm heading out to NJ today and probably won't be around for a week (I hating doing MFP or any other typing stuff on my phone, thumbs don't work well for me 😠). My niece is getting married so we're spending the week up there with family.
@SurferGirl1982 glad you're safe and hope your car can be fixed.
Catch up with you all when I get back.

Last night while eating our St. Patrick's Day dinner I made at home I began thinking back on previous March 17th's.
I YI YIKES! Some pretty bad memories trickled into my head. I began to remember how I would plan the day in advance. The green outfit, the food, the decorating, the perfect place(s) to go, the friends we'd meet up with, etc.
A LOT of planning all for the wrong out come. Most of those St.Patty's day celebrations began as early as 6:00am with music and the drinking of breakfast bloody Mary's. Some celebrations started the eve before. Needing to take off March 17 and 18.
With our reubens last night(mine was a mock reuben, no corned beef, as I don't consume a lot of red meat) I had lemon water in a wine glass. And March 17th ended up just perfect and no bad memories to have years down the road.☘
More than half way through March.

@SurferGirl1982 Sorry to hear about your car but glad you're ok! How scary!
@SparkSpringtime69 Enjoy your trip! See you when you get back!
@MissMay Sounds like a lovely evening with delicious food!
My SO wanted to try a local brewery with our son last night (son's becoming a bit of a beer connoisseur). Needless to say, I had a few different beers and a glass of wine. I'm not even sad about that. I know I'll be AF for a few nights now, but man I need to get this eating under control after the cruise😅
Have a great Tuesday, all!

Your cruise sounded wonderful. I am so happy you experienced a fantastic trip.
My hubby has been talking about to me about all inclusive trips since the day we met, especially cruises.
I keep telling him I refuse to go on a vacation prepaid to over indulge in either food or drink because it is classified as an all inclusive. He does not get my thinking. Because in the same breath he says, well you can give me your free drinks. And this is when my head explodes 🤯🤯🤯 because I am a common sense drinker and eater.
So I need to keep searching for my perfect cruise situation.
▪︎Adults only(maybe even seniors only)
▪︎Healthy food options and mocktails
▪︎All inclusive meaning activities and port stops and flights.
Is that asking to much?? 🤣😂😅

@SunnyDays930 Thanks! We were just in our neighborhood on a residential street. We didn't realize the water was so deep. I imagine the car will be OK. We're still hoping it may start on it's own. The water wasn't above the car doors. We're hoping it may dry out and start.
@SparkSpringtime69 Have a nice trip! I've never been to New Jersey. I've been to Erie, PA and Buffalo, NY (you know Niagra Falls) when I was young. I'm with you with typing on phones. My thumbs are too big and my eyesight isn't perfect. The most that I do on my phone is adding contacts and an occasional short text. My phone is linked to my desktop. So I can text from it. But I'll usually just email instead.
@chicbuc That sounds nice going to a brewery with you SO and son. We have quite a few local breweries here also.
I'm still not on track with my drinking. But I will be soon. I mainly just want to be AF until I have to have labs done. I'm not sure when they'll be…probably in May. Then, depending on the lab results, I'll decide from there. I've been drinking for many years. So it's hard to just give up.
Have a nice day everyone!

Last night we went out to restaurant that has a great patio because it was a beautiful evening. The special was a burger and draft beer for 10.00 which is a bargain. I asked for a bottle of Heineken 00 and she still gave it to me for the deal which was really nice. This is the first time I've had a 00 drink since I stopped with alcohol. I was hoping it didn't trigger me to want a real one and it didn't. It is really starting to feel normal, not drinking. Now I need to tackle my out of control sweet tooth.

Though St. Patrick's Day is over, the latest "Kate's Blog" on the Sober School website is still worth watching. I love her hopeful and insightful messages.

Checking in - I lost another 2 lbs. so weight is down 6 lbs. since the New Year. Not drinking, aiming for that one year anniversary would be nice.
Cruises: I am interested in cruises that are not super expensive and have non-inclusive options. I even actually prefer day cruising and sleeping in a hotel at night. That would be awesome, like to go to 3-5 places yet spend 2 full days on land, sleep in a normal hotel room, etc. and just use the cruise ship for day transport from island to island or city to city if it's a river cruise.
Off to work on getting my Wednesday run in.

I've been reasonably good this month in that I've been AF on most days (AF:15, A:4, I think).
The only problem is that being mostly AF lowers my tolerance, as I posted earlier. This was true again on Saturday, where we hosted a St. Pats party, including a Jameson Toast at the beginning and then Guinness with our dinner. It was really fun and delicious, but I'm beginning to think I'm just plain too old to tolerate it at all. I should have stuck with just the Guinness (which is quite a light beer, as it happens).
Still working on it!

No harm in admitting we are now in the "I'm a light weight" when drinking.
These are good signs of the awareness we now have an don't ignore. YAY

Where in NJ are you going? I’m a born and bred Jersey Girl. I had super big hair at Rutgers back in the 80’s! Anyway, have lots of fun!
3 -
@Jthanmyfitnesspal I definitely notice the same as you…. tolerance goes way down, but I think that’s a good thing!
@SurferGirl1982 hope your car recovers! That walk back through the icy cold flood water sounds so awful. Glad you are both safe!
AF tonight, and for St. Paddy’s. I was at work super late that night, and just crawled into bed. Had a glass of wine at dinner out with the girls yesterday. Today was AF again. I thought about having a glass with dinner, but I also looked at how my skin is starting to look, so it was an easy decision to go AF!

@Womona Thanks! Fortunately, we didn't have to walk very far…a quarter mile or less. But our feet were freezing. The car still hasn't started. We have an appointment at the auto shop at 2pm today. We will have to have it towed.
I hear you on the skin thing. Alcohol seems to dry it out and I sometimes get little rough patches among other things. Back in 2005, I was drinking really heavy. I was living in a motel (I had just recently met my husband). I was working. But it was through a temp agency. So I was in a period where I wasn't working. Have you ever had a real bad sunburn and your skin would peel? Like in half to one inch patches? Well, that's what happened to me. I called my friend in CA and she said it sounded like I had a allergy or something. But it was just because I was barely eating (just drinking). We need proper nutrition for our skin and everything else to function properly. I cut back on the drinking and my skin condition cleared up.
Sounds like your doing pretty good with LA. I hope for tomorrow to be Day 1 for me. I really need to get back on board. I really do feel much better when I'm not drinking. This coming Sun-Tues it's supposed to be in the upper 60's to possibly 80°. I plan to get some of my outside work done. Some of the work may be over my head. If so, I will call my handyman.
Have a nice day everyone!
