I am from Northern Minnesota, Have 3 boys all grown. Widow of about 10 years. Live with my younger two boys . I can no longer work, due to arthritis in knees, and bad hip. Have large yellow lab and good size house cat that is a muted tabby. Started Sail program, which is senior women exercise program. Volunteer one day a week at the local clinic/ hospital helping people find locations within the building. Been there almost 2 years. Do have a nutritionist, that has helped alot. You can call me Cathy or Cat. Thanks for this group.

Hi, Cat. I've had each knee replaced over the past year, one last July and one this April, so I'm home and healing now. Are you and your doctor considering that option? It's not an easy thing, but the vast majority of people find it restores much of their life back to them.

I lived in Wisconsin for many years and I understand the challenges to a healthy lifestyle that come from an inhospitable climate, although I braved pretty severe weather nearly year round b/c my mental health requires me to be outside at least a bit each day. Still, weight loss is 80% what goes in your mouth, and can be 100% if it needs to be.

Have you done calorie counting before? Are you willing to share you age/weight/height and any plans you have for the type of diet you intend to follow? Do you enjoy cooking? There are so many folks here with tons of experience and willing to help, you've landed in a good spot.

    So, welcome to MFP!
