Hello! New here!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Jess and I am starting a new journey, focusing on building muscle and maintaining my weight.
Before I used to try to track what I eat, but that didn’t work… What makes this different is that I am more intentional and I don’t view it in any negative way, I see it more as self love!

    Hi Jess

I am also new to MFP. I used to do Nutracheck but on my daughters recommendation I am giving MFP a go instead. There are some things which seem better than NC but it is a learning curve.

I am 65 and have a BMI of 28 although I have a lot of muscle rather than fat due to the amount of coastal hill walking and exercise I do. I am 12 stone and want to lose 20 lb to get comfortably into my size 12 clothes again. For some reason MFP seem to be pushing me towards a 1 lb loss a week so higher calories than NC although I have under eaten on both days I have tracked so far.

That is interesting the way you now perceive calorie tracking as self love rather than in a negative way. I find calorie tracking difficult but it works for me. The simple act of recording food in a diary is sometimes enough to make me think twice about eating it. My plan so far is avoiding processed food and our online delivery has just arrived. No processed food at all except bread. Just fruits, veg, dairy, eggs, meat and fish.

    Hi Jessie!
I’m also on a muscle building journey. I’m 55 (almost) and at an acceptable/healthy weight, so my docs have encouraged me to really concentrate on building muscle now. It’s a totally different way of working out and mindset for me, because I’ve been trying to lose weight for the last 40 years.
Now my goals are living a lifestyle that allows me to age well. I’m fairly active already, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed with this new step. I’m supposed to strength train 4x a week. As a person who has been on the cardio track for so long, it’s like how in the world do I start?!
I’m ready, just floundering with execution a bit.
What are you doing for workouts?
