This has been a very difficult year health-wise. I've spent most of the year incapacitated and as a person was cerebral palsy that a very scary proposition. I am now 52 lb over my goal weight struggling to maintain my mobility. The goal at this point it's a stay out of it wheelchair.

So I'm here looking for support but also willing to provide support. If you're new and you're just getting started hits the best thing you can do for yourself. For me, unfortunately, I lost track of it. I let things go because of pain and stressed and now having to start over. There could be worse things, at least I am out of pain and able to move now. Anyway, it's good to be back.

not giving up is in itself a success. I’m restarting this week myself.

My current goal is to count calories every day for a year without missing a day. It’s when i stop that I gain back what I lose, and I’ve never tracked for a full year.

That's the right attitude, if you ask me: When we have the energy and ability, we can forge ahead toward our goals strongly. But life has setbacks, distractions. I think one of the keys to progress and success is to give ourselves some grace when those happen, accept that progress toward goals won't be as speedy or may not occur at all . . . then get back to it when feasible, slowly or faster, whatever is practical and achievable.

I think it's letting those episodes discourage us, convince us to give up the long term effort, that creates the lack of long term success, in most cases.

Wishing you success as you continue moving forward!

Props to anyone who is starting over and not giving up.

I am also restarting this week after several years of just not caring. journey2zen - I like the one year of calorie counting goal. I may have to adopt that as well.
