A bit off the rails the past few days, hanging out at our big local dog show and not eating carefully. Walked a lot, though! I don’t have anyone to show anymore, but I had fun cheering on my friends, seeing people I haven’t seen in ages, and smooching lots of my friends’ doggers. Anyway, my trend weight hasn’t changed and I’m back on track today. I haven’t read posts, either, but will try to catch up with you all. I did look at the pictures—some great costumes out there. @Skyleen75 ! 😂🤣😂

Ah, yes, there’s the uptick from the end of last week. It’s ok.
11/04 - 198.5. In the interest of not getting back into the “I must lose every day/week/round” mindset, or my old obsessing about calories but still eating too many of them, I’ve decided to stop commenting on upticks. I’ve also decided to work on one or two changes at a time rather than all the changes I might make for the better. (That was edited to change “should” to “might”—no shoulds!) I’m going to start tracking those and go for 30 days in a row before adding another. First up, from today forward. I tend to have a snack at bedtime even though I’m not hungry and probably had a snack between dinner (5 o’clock) and bed (10:30-11). I know I’d eliminate ~200 calories by breaking this habit. I’ll mark success with a happy moon. 🌝 And I might follow through on daily intentional exercise with the walking and exercise apps I bought and use sporadically. I’ll mark success with a little jog. 🏃🏽♀️I’m trying to make this all positive and joyful rather than punitive and shameful. I have no specific weight loss goals, just a downward trend.11/05 -

10/28: DNW—My scale battery died and of course it wasn’t a normal battery. I’ll be up and running tomorrow.
10/29: 175.5 📉🤯So what this means is…I lost weight on vacation!!! I guess I’m not surprised, since we were getting so much activity and the food wasn’t agreeing with me. It’s kind of a shock, because that is not what used to happen on vacation. 🤣I got to start tap class up again and that felt great! I’m so happy to be back with my regular food. I mean, vacation is fun and all, but there’s no place like home. 👠👠🌈

10/31: 175.8 📈 🎃 I had to get up earlier today. I fully believe that I would have weighed less if I had slept in and weighed another hour or two later.
11/1: 175.0 📉🙌This is my goal for the round! 🤯One thing I know, I’m either less hungry all the time now and/or I’m getting better at living with my hunger feeling for a while. In the past, if I felt a little hunger, I ate some tortilla chips to get me through to the next meal. Granted, I was having difficulty figuring out what to eat and how to live with my Celiac diagnosis. Then my bookclub discussed THE COMFORT CRISIS by Michael Easter. This was a very thought-provoking read that pointed out how we seek comfort too much to our detriment, and he talked about the obesity crisis and our inability to deal with being uncomfortable (hungry).
11/2: 174.2 📉🫢I didn’t expect this loss today either. I’m kind of thinking that my body decided I’m not in starvation so it adjusted to what I am eating and upped my metabolism. I was a plateau for quite a while and frustrated. Being patient paid off…I guess. Who knows? 🤷♀️
Yesterday, the only thing we had left for dinner was a chef salad sans eggs & cheese. I typically bake or grill about 5 lbs of chicken at a time and freeze them individually. This allows me to pull them out one at a time—already cooked and rearin’ to go. It also wasn’t my usual throw-some-salad-mix-on-a-plate-with-dressing kind of salad. This had dried cranberries and chopped almonds! Other colorful veggies too. Oh yeah…sooooo yummy! 😋I even had enough calories left for a cupcake, so I had one!!! Know what? It wasn’t as good as I remembered. Of course, it wasn’t chocolate, so we’ll see when I get to have a chocolate one.
11/3: 174.6 📈😊Still under my round goal. No exercise yesterday. We almost ordered Mexican takeout last night and decided last minute to pick up a Rotisserie chicken. Good call! Today will be busy with lessons. Hope I get some time to tap. 💃
11/4: 175.0 😬Yesterday was very busy. I did fit in some dance time. DH at out with his DS#2, so I just made an egg and cheese sandwich for dinner. Oddly enough, it was very satisfying. Today: tap class💃, voting🗳️, and out for dinner with DH’s DS#1 & fiancé. Of course, she wants Italian. 🍝😩Not only are the calories high, but getting a truly GF meal is iffy. Hoping I don’t get sick. 🤞I may just have a salad🥗, but that’s no guarantee either. It’s also irritating to watch others eat yummy stuff while I don’t. But you all that song and dance. Ahhh…the struggles. 😊 Anyway, I saw an encouraging piece on slowing Alzheimer's and walking connection.

🎷 67 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 313 (my 243rd).
Goals for every round;
- First and foremost, no feeding frenzies – I am not a shark or even a piranha!
- to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
- be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
- to have a totally 10-day binge free round.
- Would like to lose a pound round.
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 135. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available. This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 67 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

10/27 140.6 – (trend 141.4) More or less knew yesterday’s number would not stick, but still happy, last weight in previous round was 144, so that’s a loss of 3.4 pounds. I know that previous weight was inflated due to a bad few days, but still happy. No structured exercise; met up with DS & family at Sudbury Children’s House, enjoyed the time with DGDs.

10/29 140 – (trend 141.2) met up with group of DSs & FF, went for a carvery: we were all very restrained in portion control. 6.44 miles walked before meeting up.
10/30 141.8 – (trend 141.2) woops, chocolate jumped into my mouth!! No structured walking – drove up to fetch 7-year-old DGS, he is staying with us overnight whilst his younger brother is in hospital for a routine procedure.
10/31 141.8 (trend 141.3) – second day with DGS so no structured walking, younger DGS came through his procedure well.
11/1 DNW - away for the weekend in the caravan. Short walk, almost 4 miles after we arrived.
11/2 DNW - just short of 12 miles walked into Henley-on-Arden & back.

We attended a fund-raiser event last night for our local alcohol/drug recovery program. Super awesome organization that attends to the whole person. Physical and spiritual. I can’t say enough good about it.But, the evening included the gathering of 20+ local restaurants scattered around the building to give us a taste of everything! For the food addicts it was an open bar. “hello, I’m Jeff and I am a foodaholic.” I am not joking.

10/28 – 194.4/ 4,036/19– no change today. I was thinking I would have a gain so I’m happy. Finally feeling better. Not many steps yesterday. My goal for this round is to get my step count up. I have become very sedentary again. Need more movement. Not much sleep last night watching the Blue Jays game till the bitter end. I’m feeling sorry for the fans on the east coast.
10/29 - 194.6/4,877/6 - a slight bump up but expected. Had a busy day yesterday. Happy that both the Blue Jays and Oiler's won last night.
10/30 - 194.8/5,924/26 - not liking this trend of upward movement on my weight. But I did add some more steps to my day yesterday. I ended up working the Spooktacular event for a second time (it's a fundraiser my office runs for a local foodbank).
10/31 - 193.8/4,081/17 - nice drop this morning. My step count was really low but with driving over 200km yesterday it was expected.
11/01 - 193.0/5,590/145 - a drop again today, I'll take it had a bit too much Halloween junk last night and was expecting a gain, probably tomorrow I will see it. I did get lots of active minutes yesterday going through and putting out the Halloween decorations. Today I am working an open house all afternoon so that will be on my feet. Then tonight we have a party, again on my feet outside around a big fire.
11/02 - 192.4/7,062/98 - another drop, not sure how that happened with all the Halloween candy I ate the last 2 days. I guess that I have balanced it with an increase in my steps and active minutes. Had lots of fun at the party last night, it was really fun to see some people that we haven't seen in months. Hard to watch the Jays lose but they lost in extra innings and played really awesome. The Oiler's won last night so that was good.
11/03 - 193.4/3,755/30 - a gain which was expected, we had to take the RV to our friends for storage so I drove 2 hours and snacked and didn't eat well at all.
11/04 - 192.6/5,295/21 - thankful to see a drop again. Yesterday was a big paperwork day. We got the winter tires on the van, today we have to reorganize the storage shed and get the bikes, mower and plants stuff put away for winter and make sure that the snow blower is accessible.
11/05 - 193.4/8,631/148 - I seem to be bouncing around a little in my weight still down for this round overall. Not going to make my goal of 192 for the round. Yesterday was a good day. I got my bedroom changed around and ready for winter, plus we got the garden hoses taken down and disconnected. Today we are going to do what we were supposed to do yesterday and get the storage shed organized for winter.

A bit off the rails the past few days, hanging out at our big local dog show and not eating carefully. Walked a lot, though! I don’t have anyone to show anymore, but I had fun cheering on my friends, seeing people I haven’t seen in ages, and smooching lots of my friends’ doggers. Anyway, my trend weight hasn’t changed and I’m back on track today. I haven’t read posts, either, but will try to catch up with you all. 11/04 - 198.5. In the interest of not getting back into the “I must lose every day/week/round” mindset, or my old obsessing about calories but still eating too many of them, I’ve decided to stop commenting on upticks. I’ve also decided to work on one or two changes at a time rather than all the changes I might make for the better. (That was edited to change “should” to “might”—no shoulds!) I’m going to start tracking those and go for 30 days in a row before adding another. First up, from today forward. I tend to have a snack at bedtime even though I’m not hungry and probably had a snack between dinner (5 o’clock) and bed (10:30-11). I know I’d eliminate ~200 calories by breaking this habit. I’ll mark success with a happy moon. 🌝 And I might follow through on daily intentional exercise with the walking and exercise apps I bought and use sporadically. I’ll mark success with a little jog. 🏃🏽♀️I’m trying to make this all positive and joyful rather than punitive and shameful. I have no specific weight loss goals, just a downward trend.11/05 - DNW

11/1: 164.5 A little bounce up from yesterday…I was in a calorie deficit but eating patterns have been off the last two days with timing and macros - the foods I choose definitely make a difference with my body & weight loss. I'll be more focused today eating to my scheduled plan.
11/1: 164.4 Was hoping for a bigger drop today but a loss is a loss, so I’ll take it and move forward! I enjoyed an extra hour of sleep with the time change and now I'm off to enjoy my day. I should be grocery shopping and cleaning my house today but instead I'm going to have a lovely day with friends. Lots going on in the upcoming week…my daughter starts her college internship, hosting 2 friends for their birthdays (making the cakes), and a big project I’ve been working on for about 6 months goes live. 11/3: 164.0 Delicious family dinner last night, I typically double the recipe for whatever I make on Sundays to have extras pre-portioned and ready for quick easy dinner or lunch the rest of the week for me. I don't mind eating the same thing every night for a week but look forward to something new every Sunday. We typically only have 1 -2 meals a week when everyone is home together and I can cook.
11/4: 163.9 Inch by inch still trying to get back to that 10/31 number, which must have been an anomaly as I've been well in a calorie deficit every day. Wonder if I misread the scale (ha ha). I've slacked, off a little bit with my water intake, been at about half my usual water, will make that a priority more.
11/5: 163.6 Still focus on getting that water in, I heard a report yesterday that said we wake up already in a dehydrated state and should consume at least 16 ounces right when we wake up and in doing that we will train our bodies to equate waking up with replenishing the dehydrated state and our bodies will begin to wake up more naturally. Worth a try!

My glucose numbers were good and my cravings were low. However, I did not sleep well last night (Fitbit shows total of 2 hrs 50 minutes broken up). No TMI this morning is probably the biggest factor and it was an early weigh-in this morning as I got up earlier than normal due to my travel today. Below are yesterday’s numbers. Hopefully things will settle in over the coming days though I may not weigh tomorrow because I usually need a buffer day after travel.
🦃🦃🦃🦃 11/05-184.8 ❌ (Trend Weight: 183.9) I wasn’t going to weigh today because our choices yesterday when out of town were never-ending pasta, breadsticks and soup. Olive Garden was a bit of a treat since even our closest faraway towns “up north” where I live don’t have Olive Gardens. I feel like I boxed a lot to take home (ate it later for dinner) and did “okay”. Not great, not too bad. But the stop for ice cream at my son’s request on the way home was totally unnecessary. He held me down and forced it down my throat or I wouldn’t have eaten it. It was quite the public display! Anyway, hopefully some of the fluid retention will drop off in the next day or two. I don’t think the whole 1.6 lb increase is fat. Fingers crossed!

10/29: 175.5 📉🤯So what this means is…I lost weight on vacation!!! I guess I’m not surprised, since we were getting so much activity and the food wasn’t agreeing with me. 11/1: 175.0 📉🙌This is my goal for the round! 🤯One thing I know, I’m either less hungry all the time now and/or I’m getting better at living with my hunger feeling for a while. In the past, if I felt a little hunger, I ate some tortilla chips to get me through to the next meal. Granted, I was having difficulty figuring out what to eat and how to live with my Celiac diagnosis. Then my bookclub discussed THE COMFORT CRISIS by Michael Easter. This was a very thought-provoking read that pointed out how we seek comfort too much to our detriment, and he talked about the obesity crisis and our inability to deal with being uncomfortable (hungry).
11/2: 174.2 📉🫢I didn’t expect this loss today either. I’m kind of thinking that my body decided I’m not in starvation so it adjusted to what I am eating and upped my metabolism. I was a plateau for quite a while and frustrated. Being patient paid off…I guess. Who knows? 🤷♀️
Yesterday, the only thing we had left for dinner was a chef salad sans eggs & cheese. I typically bake or grill about 5 lbs of chicken at a time and freeze them individually. This allows me to pull them out one at a time—already cooked and rearin’ to go. It also wasn’t my usual throw-some-salad-mix-on-a-plate-with-dressing kind of salad. This had dried cranberries and chopped almonds! Other colorful veggies too. Oh yeah…sooooo yummy! 😋I even had enough calories left for a cupcake, so I had one!!! Know what? It wasn’t as good as I remembered. Of course, it wasn’t chocolate, so we’ll see when I get to have a chocolate one.
11/3: 174.6 📈😊Still under my round goal. No exercise yesterday. We almost ordered Mexican takeout last night and decided last minute to pick up a Rotisserie chicken. Good call! Today will be busy with lessons. Hope I get some time to tap. 💃
11/4: 175.0 📈😬Yesterday was very busy. I did fit in some dance time. DH at out with his DS#2, so I just made an egg and cheese sandwich for dinner. Oddly enough, it was very satisfying. Today: tap class💃, voting🗳️, and out for dinner with DH’s DS#1 & fiancé. Of course, she wants Italian. 🍝😩Not only are the calories high, but getting a truly GF meal is iffy. Hoping I don’t get sick. 🤞I may just have a salad🥗, but that’s no guarantee either. It’s also irritating to watch others eat yummy stuff while I don’t. But you all that song and dance. Ahhh…the struggles. 😊Anyway, I saw this today during breakfast. Encouraging!

So far I’ve tracked everything today. Just need to keep going.
Got my workout in this morning and went to the doctor for my annual check up. Got my flu shot so mentally preparing to be tired tomorrow for trick or treating. My doctor pointed out that I’m down 5 pounds from my check up last year, which would be pleasing except that I know I was even lower in January - 123.8 according to MFP. Hope to be there again soon!

🎷 67 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 313 (my 243rd).
Goals for every round;
- First and foremost, no feeding frenzies – I am not a shark or even a piranha!
- to weigh less at the end of the round than the start
- be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end
- to have a totally 10-day binge free round.
- Would like to lose a pound round.
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 135. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available. This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 67 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

I could hive myself a half of a heart for my half-hearted exercise, but no. Yesterday was a chauffeur day for the generations behind me, and book keeping day for the generations ahead of me.By the way… for me, logging food begets more success if I log as soon as the food is eaten, or even before. Waiting until the end of the day to tally it up is usually disappointing.

Pumpkin pancakes at Rotary lunch was my big meal of the day. I love breakfast for lunch, but it took my eye off the target.Today is lunch out with friends, then pizza with the grands tonight (oh, and with their parents too. HA!) before they go out and troll our neighborhood for chocolate. I will sneak at least one quality control sample from our “outgoing” basket.

✏️🎯💓 by a hair.Like many of you have expressed, these next two months of eating temptation are kicked-off with too much left-over candy. I have failed the test too many times. I usually start Nov/Dec in a hole with too many peanut butter cups, etc. Then, these cool months are loaded with comfort food offerings. Discouragement follows. I can see it plain as day.
Yesterday was pretty good. Let’s take it one day at a time.

We attended a fund-raiser event last night for our local alcohol/drug recovery program. Super awesome organization that attends to the whole person. Physical and spiritual. I can’t say enough good about it.But, the evening included the gathering of 20+ local restaurants scattered around the building to give us a taste of everything! For the food addicts it was an open bar. “hello, I’m Jeff and I am a foodaholic.” I am not joking.

Same scale three days in a row. I expected it to go up this morning. Food choices were good; just too much of it.NSV: I was in a meeting where the “Halloween candy” got passed around and I just passed it to the next person without even looking at the clear bag to see what was in it.
This is such a dangerous time of year. I need to be tracking and exercising! So, I will see you all next round.
