Whats wrong with drinking 16.4 cups of 1% milk everyday and eating/drinking nothing else.
You get 1800 calories, 213 carbs, 49 fats, and 147 protein grams. Very reasonable.
Tell me why this cannot work.

I would be miserable personally. 1% milk tastes terrible. Milk doesn't provide a varied enough spread of vitamins and minerals either. Sure, someone could probably live on this (they'd probably get scurvy and god knows what other vitamin deficiency driven diseases though) but unhappily.
#1 reason this doesn't work is that it's not a healthy way to interact with food psychologically (and pretty much in every other way). Getting thinner should never occur at the cost of healthiness. You can't subsist on milk for your whole life so you have to start eating food again at some point. Without working on the portion control problems at the root of the weight issue, the weight will come back.
But I don't believe you are looking for real answers.0 -
Ditto on the scurvy. The pirate look isn't sexy, despite Johnny Depp.

Macros, yes.
Micros? Not so much. They're important, too. (I'm talking all the vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, and phytonutrients).
There's a reason that eating a wide variety of foods is good for you.
But then, maybe you're just resorting to hyperbole in order to make a point.0 -
Well, if you take your multivitamins... *rubs chin*
Oh good god, I'm considering this! Food budget is now $40 a week plus vitamins! *runs to store*0 -
I would have such bad gas...0

Actually know a guy who did this. He lost a lot of weight but gained it back very quickly. Nutritionally though, I can see how short term it wouldnt be terrible.0

You'd be a lot better off on the milk and potato diet. Especially if you eat the skins, milk and potatoes provide a remarkably complete diet.0

There's a reason they're called supplements. And not called substitutes.0 -

Even baby cows eat grass on top of it!0 -
I would rather 1800 calories of yummy food and get my vitamins and nutrients
Ie: Breakfast - Porridge with peanut butter/fruit and greek yoghurt
Lunch - Hearty veg soup/Ryvita's with cottage cheese & tom/Wholegrain sandwich/salad/wrap/sushi etc
Dinner - Fish & Veg/ Meat/Veg/ Omelette etc
Why just drink milk ??? How boring..........I couldn't do that!0 -
Love this!!! HA HA!
That would be me0 -
It's definitely possible, but that amount of lactose could really make you bloated. Also you'll be depriving yourself of certain micronutrients.
A lot of body builders/power lifters/the like drink a lot of milk to hit their macros.0 -

Because milk doesn't contain all the nutrients you need. There is more to food than macros, people.0 -
I think Rippetoe recommends a gallon of milk a day for those bulking or whatnot, but I think that is in addition to a normal diet.
As far as micros...I wonder if a greens drink would cover that?0 -
What about breast milk?0
-
What if you're lactose intolerant?0
-
Ok add a couple eggs and a multivitamin and it's rock solid. I love milk so I was just wondering how much I can drink a day and my answer was just get on a milk diet.0
-
Mainly, lack of micronutrition, but I suppose you could get away with it for a few days.0

What about breast milk?
I could get on board with this. Willing to give it the ol' college try!0
