Should sugar be controlled like tobacco and alcohol

Well, hopefully everyone has already vented their spleen and I can say that on some level: I agree. Not with treating sugar like alcohol and tobacco, but as someone pointed out, the government can have a role in encouraging healthy behaviors and discouraging unhealthy behavior. I have no problem taxing candy, soda and junk food. I have no problem taxing fast food. I think with barcode technology that food stamps should only be able to purchase food. And if you don't think that the tax on cigarettes has worked, you are mistaken. It has had a drastic impact on the number of people who start smoking and the numbers that have quit.
Obviously this is simplistic. So I would settle for better education on nutrition.0
