awesome! Congrats! Have you read up on rhythm method? I have a great book (I'll have to look it up to find the name and author) but it was really really helpful and we conceived the first month! :-) According to the book if you are following the recommendations in the book and you don't conceive in 3 months they recommend you seeing a fertility specialist rather than the year that is usually recommended!

Yeah I know about the rythym method. I am just tracking days casually now since I am very regular. I have only been off of bc for almost 1 month. My husband doesn't want to get too focused on conceiving, but to let it happen naturally. If it doesn't happen in a few months we will probably get more serious. We are just trying to enjoy the process and not get fixated on it (as is an easy thing for me to do!!!!)

i'm anxious and ready to start trying now....I don't know how i am going to handle it when My husband and i actually do start trying...We will have a small window to get it right before he leaves on deployment otherwise we'll have to wait 6-8 months when he gets home...(although there has been talk of me flying to meet them at a port half way through which would give us another oppertunity)....

The Rhythm method has worked well for me. In fact my husband understands my cycles well enough after 10 years that he knew I was pregnant before I did!

It actually took 2 months this time to get pregnant. It was God's perfect timing though! he knew what he was doing. So I made turkey tacos tonight and they were YUMMY but I ate way too much and that's when I get sick. I can't resist though...homemade guacamole too! I usually make my own chips but I ate regular ones today. Oh well! I'm off to cycle!

Forgot to mention...with first son we were trying for a boy and calculated ovulation so this time we tried for a girl....hoping that we did it before the egg dropped....not sure if anyone has read up on this but we won't know until October. (my second son was a surprise and I only had one cycle between him and my older son because of breast feeding and my body just not being ready)
My doctor said she thinks this works but her thought it not scientific.

I've heard that as well, that there are certain times during your cycle to try for a certain gender! My friend's mom used to say it was bc boy-sperm were lazy and the egg needed to be right there ready to be fertalized VS girl sperm would live longer and hang out long enough to fertalize an egg that hadn't dropped yet!

We had been using the rhythm method and I am very regular but didn't seem to get pregnant. My OBGYN said give it 6 months and then she would refer us, because of my age.

Apparently, even though I am regular and I know when I ovulate, I was fertile almost 3 days after when I thought my ovulation ended. And we got pregnant. In fact based on the dates I was supposed to be out of my fertile stage and I am regular 28 days on the dot.

Here is my secret, have sex at least once a day, have fun sex, don't make it all about baby sex.

No one can pin point fertiliztion they are only estimates. Good luck to everyone that is TTC and Preggers already.

Note: SO after reading the previous about boys and girls if I got pregnant so late in my ovulation do you think it could be anther boy...Ha that would figure. I think my husband makes all boys anyway.

lol yes. that would mean a boy but that's just a myth....They say it's because the girl sperm are stronger like the previous post says and they live longer and wait for the egg to drop vs if your egg just dropped the boys are actually faster and will swim to meet it quicker.
We'll see at the beginning of November if it's true for us.

actually it's not u a myth, there's a lot of research that has been put into it. Boy sperm are smaller and fast and tend to reach the uterus first (but die faster than girl sperm) so if the women hasn't ovulated yet the sperm tend to die off before they can fertilize it. Girl sperm are larger (and live longer) and thus take longer to reach the egg. It's not a 100% method, but research has proven that it's true

I know the research on the sperm is true but (I guess myth isn't the right word) the doing it before or after isn't precise! unless you are watching your egg drop getting the right sperm at the right time can be determined only by God! That's what I meant to say....cause we made sure we didn't do it after this time so we're really hoping that it does work! =)

Everything I have read from medical experts is that there is no way to influence gender. Can you site this research? I would be interested in reading it.

YAY shopping queen! You're so close!

So yesterday morning I had to pee like every 10 minutes which is waaaay more often than usual. A couple of times I would pee and stand up and feel that pressure on my bladder like I need to pee again lol. My shortness of breath is better too and then today I took the bus to work with my friends and she said I look much lower like he dropped! :-) So maybe?!

Mellie13 - Sure, I have a book at home that I know mentioned it so I will give you the title and author. I borrowed 3 books when trying to conceive and they all mentioned it, but I only have the one left. :-(

He's making his decent - I felt the same way for the last 2 weeks. Just don't eat watermelon before bed. I learned the hard way! LOL. Then my doc told me to drink more fluids when I had cramping earlier this week. What??? I wanted to ask her "Do you know how much I pee already?!?!?!"
  • It's my Due Date month!!

Shoppingqueen- I can't believe how quickly the time has come for you, I am sure it felt slow at times.

    Weigh in SW 164 (pre-pregnancy)
    CW 168.9 (its still fluctuating)

I think it depends on how much protein I have been having that make my body yo yo with weight loss and gain.
Officially done with summer school and I plan on tracking a lot more this month as well as getting back to some exercise.

Has anyone pregnant looked into car seats yet? Or know of a good one. I wont find out the sex of the baby until the end of the month but I know of all the things that are important I will need that the most.

For all the TTC girls good luck this month.

we bought a travel system and when we did research in consumer report the Chicco Cortina was amongst the highest Rated. That is the one we purchased, but I can't remember what other brands were listed.

The official stance is that you can't influence the baby's sex! However anecdotal myths say that you can--I believe in the short lived male sperm version, it makes sense and it works so far for me. My first one we were every-other day, my second it was the luck of the draw. First was girl, second boy. Just interesting.

What books would you recommend for those TTC? We have what to expect before expecting and that has been very helpful, but I wonder if we just aren't getting the dates right with my ovulation, though I know when I'm ovulating. The more literature the better. We have decided that it isn't a must thing right now. It's going to happen when it happens and that's that!

Ok everyone this is the book I've been talking about " Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by toni Weschler, MPH. It's AMAZING and talks you through everything. Based on this method we got pregnant our first month and have a couple friends who used this method as well. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it. :-)

That's awesome, sorry it's not healthy but at least you feel better. My nausea goes away when i eat but comes back about 10 minutes after i've finished eating. it's like I'm on a boat ride all day.
