i have taken the time (as have many others) to explain why juice cleanses, cleanses, and detoxes are complete nonsense.
they are not grounded in science. they are not accepted by any legitimate medical organization as an acceptable strategy for weight loss. they don't work. in fact, some can be downright dangerous.
instead of being thanked for our efforts, we are often met with scorn and ridicule by the legions of fans of cleanses and detoxes. these people place their "feelings" and "beliefs" and 3rd-hand anecdotes above actual, real science. moreover, they often attribute magical medical properties to these cleanses and detoxes, to the point that i fear that some naive MFP member with a real and serious medical problem may consider foregoing real medical treatments in favor of trying a fraudulent cleanse of detox. for example, some MFP members who support cleanses and detoxes insist that these non-scientific methods can cure cancer (among other things).
i thought this site was supposed to be supportive. :frown:

I can't believe you would belittle something that has been handed down from generation to generation in my family!!! My great grandfather was an American Indian and he loves JUICE! (actual real life argument when I said juicing wasn't a good idea)0

Generally "troll posts" come from someone with 1 post.....not 3000.......just an observation! Now get back to your cabbage juice and peeled lemon.0

Just kidding. Reported for being unsupportive. We're all here for the same reason, man.0 -

More trolling.
^^ just learned the word "trolling" and isn't sure how to properly use it yet0 -

agree.
I have friends in real life that chose the juicing route and I just ignore it when they bring it up.0 -
Best quote ever! I think I have actually burned a good amount of calories from the frustration that comes with trying to beat this into certain people's heads that I know.0 -
I don't understand why anyone would think that was actually healthy.0

Troll post.
Anyway, OP, you're being unsupportive of the unsupportive people. Maybe you should do a green raspberry ketone soup cleanse and learn to live on sunshine alone.0 -

I had a friend in real life who had breast cancer and a good prognosis, who decided to treat it "naturally," until it didn't go away and it was too late to treat it.0 -
So, I actually agree with you on juicing not working, etc.
But... what you're basically saying is that you're disappointed that people are not being supportive of you not being supportive of someone else's diet choices. Or, put a different way, you're expecting people to fall all over themselves and say "Why yes, d'uh, you are 100% right, what was I thinking?!" When you tell them they're wrong.
Didn't you learn that didn't work that well in like, elementary school? No one likes being told they're wrong. How about you focus on your own weight loss and stop telling people how they should handle it?0 -
this is a serious thread BTW.

Haha no ****, right? I learned how to spot them from people who have only posted once or twice and usually about the same nonsense.0 -

so, i am posting this thread because i am truly disappointed that so many MFP members are not being supportive of me (and others) in our efforts to prevent people from doing something stupid to themselves, like a starting a cleanse or detox.
i thought this site was supposed to be supportive. :frown:
Seriousyl, BB, if you can't just rubber stamp everything, don't bother posting.

You are talking science to people who want religion.
It's a pointless discussion to get into - have to recognize that those folks aren't looking for "advice", they're looking for validation - best course of action is to stay out of the conversation, as the conversation is about *them* , not about *you*.0 -
