I had my second baby while I was in my last semester of nursing school. I was not postponing graduation by taking maternity leave so I had him on a Friday morning, was back in class Monday, and graduated on time 5 weeks later.

Hmmm, these things are not particularly bad a** compared to some of the awesomeness (and difficulties!) posted but they were interesting to me:

Poked at flowing lava with a stick and watched it catch fire
Pulled a big octopus that had wrapped itself around my dad's torso off of him
Hiked the Stairway to Heaven on Oahu, Hawaii
Went ziplining and completed an aerial obstacle course (huge for me because heights make my stomach do backflips)

In the mushy category: Stood up to the principal and Spec Ed Supervisor as they blatantly trampled my son's rights in kindergarten. He was my first son, and I had no idea what my power as a parent truly was. 8 meetings and 2 calls to the Patient Advocacy Associates later, and that school was slapped with a Non-Compliance Report and lengthily lectured on the basic concept of the IDEA act. That, and looking at the Spec Ed lady and asking her straight out "So, you are saying my son, whom you have never screened yourself, can't have ADHD because he has good grades? How did you get your job?!"

Slashing at a family member who was preparing to hurt me in more ways than one with a steak knife. After years of his crap, I'd had enough.

Pulling my youngest son out of a full 3 ft drainage culvert last year. I've never run that fast in my life and hope to never run that fast again. I cleared 200 ft in 20 secs or less.

I don't know if it badass but I disarmed a guy that was going to shoot me and my EMS crew. Oh I got caught in a flashover in a housefire and came out of the house with my bunker gear on fire. I didn't know it at the time. And bluffed a guy from pulling a gun on me during an issue that escalated from talking to reaching for guns. I didn't have one but told him he was a dead man if I saw his. Nothing but a few days in the life.

    - When I was like 8 or 9 yrs old or so I was in Disney World coming out of the Michael Jackson 3D movie and President Jimmy Carter was there. He of course was being escorted by Secret Service who surrounded him. I ran up in between the Secret Service agents and up to him. I said hi and walked along with him for a minute. I dare you to try to run up on a President like that through Secret Service  ...no don't really do it, to all NSA agents reading this I am not literally encouraging anyone to do this... ok so they never identified themselves as Secret Service, could have just been Disney security, idk... oh and he wasn't actually president anymore at the time... and I am now realizing this isn't much of a story :ohwell:

    - I lost >100lbs

I held the physics package (the part that goes boom) of a nuclear weapon (Minuteman III). It was warm.

Stepped in the middle of a domestic violence fight going on in the neighbors yard. I took the woman to the hospital while my husband held down the man until the cops arrived. I was scared!

Free hiked down the Grand Canyon with a frying pan, seasonings, fishing pole and a sleeping bag. Spent 3 days in the bottom of the Grand Canyon, then hiked back out.

Went deep sea fishing. Scary stuff reeling in fish bigger than you!

Defeating the demon within myself and overcoming my "past."

I haven't done anything truly amazing - yet - but I certainly plan to.

Estranged husband tried to kidnap his ex in the work parking lot. Had her by the hair and was pulling her across the lot. Crowd had gathered, but he had a .44 he was waving around.

I charged him. He had plenty of time to pull the trigger. Don't know why he didn't. I took him down, pulled the gun away and, when security arrived to hold him, I turned the gun over to the security guard and took the girl to the Police Station.

Here's the f**cked up part. Police said they couldn't do anything. It was a domestiic and they were only seperated. The Security Guard gave the guy back his gun back and let him go. The ex-husband claimed I assualted him.

She got a restraining order. It was quitting time and there were about 100 witnesses, so I was not charged. The ex-husband eventually went away. I became friends with the gal and eventually dated her for about a year.

That's messed up! At least in the dispute my husband and I broke up, the woman got the medical attention she desperately needed and the man got the restraining order.

In middle school I was bullied by a group of kids. I didn't even know why they picked on me, I guess it was because I was the awkwardly shy, skinny, pasty girl with acne. It happened everyday and I ended up eating in the bathroom at lunch to avoid them. No one wanted to be my friend and I was suicidal because of this group. One day I finally decided enough was enough and punched the main bullier right in her face and cursed her out in front of the whole school and I finally told her what I really thought of her and the whole group. I told her how much of a b*tch she really was and that I tried to kill myself because of them. I was a little 13 year old girl and I just confronted, cursed out and punched the person I feared the most. She was shocked beyond belief and couldn't even say a word after that. No one could. Blood gushed from her nose. I had broke it.

So is that the best way to deal with a bully/bullies? Probably not. But I am so proud for finally sticking up for myself. Even though my parents had to pay her $200+ hospital bill and had to witness their daughter get interrogated by the police they still to this day tell me how proud they are of me. I will NEVER let someone ever talk down on me like that ever again! After the incident I was suspended for 5 days, but I didn't even care. When I came back the whole group that used to bully me apologized. They said they didn't really mean what they said and didn't know it made me suicidal. I think that was BS, of course they meant it, but I accepted their apology anyway. I never did apologize for punching the girl though. And to this day I don't even feel bad about it. She learned her lesson the hard way.

Even though they never bothered me again, I told my parents I wanted to transfer schools. I wanted a fresh start. That was another bad a** thing in itself. We moved 1 hour away to a different middle school in the middle of the school year and I knew absolutely no one there. I had to break out of my shell and start being friendly and starting convos with people. I joined some clubs and some sports teams. I had a great experience there. I made a ton of truly amazing friends and even got myself a boyfriend! I guess that's not too bad for being the awkwardly shy, skinny, pasty girl with acne.

I farted in public......and didn't blame it on anyone :smokin:

I have a few badass things I could mention, but I'll pass on them and just go with this......I've lost 40 pounds, and hopefully can lose 65 more. First time in my life that I've been successful in losing weight. I'm loving how I look and feel.

But seriously, to all of you that are/was in the Service....THANK YOU. I love me some servicemen/women

For others that stood up for yourselves, defended other people, the lady that got preg from rape and gave the baby up for adoption, the ladies that birthed their own kids.....my hat's off to you.

This is a most entertaining thread! Thanks to whoever started it. :drinker:

Does dancing in the middle of the shops count? I mean, I was playing a dancing game on a Wii in the middle of the shops. Probably lame compared to what others are saying. Lol.
