A push up for every comment: Who is in?

So I thought this might be fun, a sort of push up challenge/game? Plus help me and others in building up the number of push-ups we can do. Whatever the number of comments are in here every morning, we do that many pushups. Go as long as we can or till this seems interesting? What do you think?

So, tomorrow we do 2 one for your post and one for mine? (So far) Sounds fun, how do report compliance ? Daily? If lots of people play, it will become a large number quickly!

Do 4 today (including this comment)! We report when we are done for the day? That would give us at least one more to do the other day. I am hoping I will be able to increase the number of "proper" push-ups I do.

    Did my four for today.

I like push-ups, but if I don't keep in practice, I lose the ability to do boy push-ups and have to go back to girl push-ups. Of course, it takes about 5-6 weeks of not doing any to lose the ability, and I can get it back pretty quickly. I want to increase my ability as well - I can currently do 3 sets of 10 boy push-ups (sometimes I can get a set up to 12 before form starts breaking down). I want to be able to do 3 sets of 15. I want to do clapping push-ups. I want to do one-arm push-ups. OK - perhaps I had a little too much coffee this morning.

    "see" you tomorrow!

Ok I just did 19 push-ups!! That was more than I was expecting today... Perhaps a comment needs to be 3 words at least??? :-) :-)

@ Barbonica: That sounds great! I can do couple of proper/boy push-ups but hoping to increase that number, Plus the form.

@ jdad1, you are welcome to join!!

OK, did 21 boy push-ups, in 2 sets (10 and 11). Last two were not great, but close enough that I counted them...

@ nu202 Good job on your 19! Keep it up!

I think posting a sentence in 5 different posts is cheating, and I call foul!

    CU tomorrow!

Ok 22 push-ups done. I did 3 sets: 7:10:5. Currently I do not reach as near to the ground as I want to but I think I am getting better. At least I am not doing the pus ups on knees anymore...so progress.

Great job - we are both making progress already!

I did my 23: 1 set of 12 and 1 set of 11. That is progress, never did more then 1 set in excess of 10 before, so happy face all around! CU tomorrow!

Just did 25 push-ups: 12:12:1. Last time I did, I gave up the set at 7, so 12 in one go was tough but nice!

@DevLe, Thanks for an additional comment :-)

Now that I am doing boy push-ups, I also want to go nearer to the ground. As of now I don't go down that much . I assume it means more arm strength. Will it build up with push-ups or are there other exercises I can do for that?

Push ups primarily targets the muscles of the chest, arms, and shoulders. (abdominals, deltoid, pectoralis major (and minor), and triceps brachi) Furthermore, other muscles are used as support.

    Get at 'em!

I'm on a personal challenge this month to do at least 100 push ups and 50 pull ups daily, so I'll be getting mine in.

Nice see some more folks playing!

    Did my 29, 2x10, 1x9.

@NU2012, when I wanted to go lower, I just did a few and then did one going all thd way down. Didn't think about getting back up when I went down. You will probably surprise yourself - we stop too soon because we think we can't get back up. Try it, worst that happens is...you can't get back up. But keep trying, you will succeed!

    I just did 30. 14:14:2.

@ Barbonica,The last two was after reading your comment, so tried to go lower. Let's see how I progress.

@ bunbu: We are doing what the total comments are at the topic, that particular day. So it kinds of build up everyday and hopefully our strength as well. But if you prefer, you can do the push ups for the comments right after yours.

@ sanderdejonge: Thanks for explaining. Any recommendations for the exercises to strengthen all that?

@ UCB1984 : Thanks! Good luck with your personal challenge!
