Looking for Friends doing the BIG THREE!

Options
Hello,

Im looking for friends whose goal is to lose weight by doing the following three things:

1) Eating at a healthy deficit (No IIFYM bull)
2) Doing cardio 3-4 times week
3) Lifting light and/or heavy

Im looking to lose 10-15lbs this way and giving myself until May 2014 to accomplish it. I am not a quitter and I like people to push me and in return I will push them too. Please add me as a friend if you think we will get along. Thanks

please explain why IIFYM is bull?

If you do IIFYM you still have eat at a calorie deficit to lose weight, I think you may have misunderstood IIFYM.

Except for #1, I think your plan sounds really sensible! I lost 66 pounds essentially following a plan of 'IIFYM' - of course I did it with a 250 calorie a day deficit... so I lost weight.

I've continued to eat under the basic philosophy of IIFYM (without a deficit), and I have successfully maintained my weight loss for two years now.

I'm not saying I eat junk all the time, but I definitely find a way to fit a moderate amount of beer/wine, cupcakes, candy, pizza, cheeseburgers, etc into my diet.

    Good luck to you!

    ^^ This

IIFYM means you set macronutrient goals and choose foods according to those nutrition goals. You can be IIFYM when at a deficit, when maintaining, or when bulking.

    What is IIFYM?

    If It Fits My Macos.

I think she may be looking for those who eat healthier (aka veggies, fruits, lean meats, whole grains) foods, rather than filling up on pizza, chocolate, that sort of thing.

    What is IIFYM?

    "If It Fits Your Macros"

It means you choose foods based on macronutrient goals. You eat to reach a set amount of macronutrients. In IIFYM, there is no food "off-limits" provided that your total food for the day fits the total amount of proteins, fats, carbohydrates.

Found this in your food log from yesterday..."Subway - 6" Black Forest Ham Sub on Toasted Parmesean Oregano Bread With American Cheese, Light Mayo, Veggies, 6 " sub"
Also, some pre-packaged chicken wing sauce, and gummy worms.

So, you eat deli meat (processed with lots of sodium)? american cheese (highly processed, hardly counts as cheese)? candy (sugar and more sugar)? But you think IIFYM is bull? I think you don't know what IIFYM means.

I don't think there's anything wrong with those foods, but, that pretty much defines what people mean when they say IIFYM. (Contrary to popular misconceptions, IIFYM is not all about pop tarts, pizza, and ice cream. Though there's nothing wrong with those things either, in the right portions)

Most people who do IIFYM do both. In order to meet my macros I have to eat mostly "healthier" foods, but I generally have room for some ice cream or something similar once my other needs have been met.

Clearly she is confused. IIFYM =/= "filling up on pizza, chocolate"

(Though pizza is easy to fit in my macros because they way I make it, it contains the right proportions of carbs, proteins, and fats: 45/20/35 for me)

To add to that, I would say that IIFYMers eat a healthier diet than most "dieters" because many of them are not tracking their macros at all, only calories.

    If It Fits *Your* *Macros*

Clearly you are not familiar with IIFYM. It is very difficult to actually fit your macros "filling up" on pizza, chocolate and "that sort of thing". You will find in order to fit your calorie goal over the day and still meet your macros that a lot of your foods will be veggies, fruits, lean meats, grains, etc with a little of the extra things like pizza and chocolate added in.

Basically, it allows you to balance a calorie goal and still include the foods that you really enjoy.
