I wonder if a lot of the yearning for the fresh start a "cleanse" might claim to provide is more of a mental reset that a person is looking for. Some kind of divider between the past and the future, their habits, themselves.

Hey I have these bumps on the back of my thighs. Would a cleanse help?

Try an apple cider vinegar scrub. ;)

ETA: I'm not serious, btw, just in case anyone thought to actually try this. :)

The best "mental reset", IMHO, is learning that you have all if the power over your weight and health, and not some stupid "detox" (or pill, or shake, etc.)

Which is why I will continue to advise against detoxes and cleanses and do my part to ensure this thread is visible come January.

January is going to be dark days indeed.

It starts in mid-December and continues on through about late January. Then round two in late February/March for spring breakers. Then March through August brings the summer vacation/summer wedding crowd. It's always worth keeping the useful stickies bumped throughout the year.

I remember my trainer back in my "drink a gallon of whiskey a day" days telling me to "detox" with lots of water and fruit/veggies. I was pretty toxic those days lol, but her mantra was always "your body will take care of it. just fuel it properly.

Man, they sure have come out with lots of new "products" these past 37 years lol.

    Oh - *bump* :)

^ I was wondering if January gets loaded up with a lot of woo posts or challenges. I've only been here since April and read the forums. I am just barely beginning to figure out my own body's patterns and needs so rarely post. I've lost 50 pounds with simple CICO and have not done any cleanses or taken any pills or cut out one specific food group and I'm STILL confused! It's been 8 months and I hardly know what's happening but what I'm doing is working and I'm not hungry.

So, In January the forums get a little tough to read, eh? Well, I guess we were all new to this once, right?
