Yeah, @sufferlandrian. Something chewed the shifter cable on my hubby's bike. He went to use it yesterday and about 2 inches of the coating was chewed (?) away. Time for new cables I guess. We can't figure out why it might have been 'targeted.'

@sufferlandrian hope you're having a better night at work (if you're working that is)

I have 5.5 hour left of shift tonight and 12 hours Tuesday night and I'm done for 12 days. Vacation time!!

Are you going somewhere for vacation, @bethanie0825? Or just a relaxing staycation?

What a long weekend!!!! I worked on Sunday night (actually Monday midnight to 8am) and at about 2:30 am hubby calls me to tell me my dad phoned him with a scary blood pressure reading of 217/1hundred something and pressure pain in chest! I sent hubby on his way to pick up my mom and take her in to emerg and meet the ambulance there while I phoned dad and asked a few more questions. After about 2 hours of anxiety while I was stuck on-site dad was being cared for at the hospital. His bp came down closer to normal fairly quickly but they did an ECG and wanted to keep him under observation for a bit. He had no damage so likely a panic attack (he is under an immense amount of stress as mom has Lewy body dementia and can be very hard to deal with) and he was able to go home by 8am. I get home and go to sleep and when I woke up there were phone messages saying my mom had a sudden strong nosebleed they couldn't stop so she was taken in to emergency by ambulance. They managed to get it stopped and were able to get a hold of my husband to pick her up from hospital and take her home. Oi!!! It's times like these I'm glad we don't live in the US. I can't imagine having to worry about how much the ambulance costs, how much check & observation in emerg costs, or even which hospital will take them depending on what insurance company says. The gals at the senior residence were certainly kept hopping that morning.

I am sore & tired tonight as I met with my kinesiologist/occupational therapist and we walked 15 km this evening going through all the barns at dusk, part of where I have to patrol on City Patrol - I am doing desensitization for dark enclosed spaces where I might surprise intruders/lurkers. One more night to go and then I hope to be back on regular patrol again. But first Roots & Blues Festival - always a fun gig - beer gardens, wine lounge, and the 19 yrs+ 'Boogie Barn' entrance gate. Looking forward especially to Jim Cuddy and his band, and Jack de Keyser.

Off tonight but still waiting for calls from the new vet. At least I can do it from the comfort of my own couch.

One my coworkers did it on an r-bike. Worked beautiful. We did have to give it a boost charge at the half way point but that didn’t take too long.

Been out riding on fat tires and 29ers that last couple days. It's been nice to still get the legs working but not exactly the same muscles.

Back into another weekend. I just got a job offer out of Vancouver Canada. I'm not going to say I'm not tempted. Victoria is gorgeous!

He's working out really well. I'm spending three nights a week at home. I'm still on my phone to be able to consult but I'm home. It's great.

Back into another weekend. I just got a job offer out of Vancouver Canada. I'm not going to say I'm not tempted. Victoria is gorgeous!

Victoria is a lovely city, Vancouver Island is wonderful if you like the outdoors, lots of great hiking trails and the skiing is amazing (at times they have had to shut the lifts down on Mt. Washington because the snow is too HIGH for the lift), lots of scenic highways for biking, and the open ocean - nothing between you and Japan. And if you really need to go to Vancouver, it's a beautiful ferry ride away. Glad you are getting a rest and time with family.

    Howzitgoin' with everyone else?

I had a superbusy weekend (Thu -Sun) working at the music festival (22,000+ steps a day - partly dancing at my security post, hahaha). It was all great until I got a phone call Sun morning at 4:30 (after 2 hrs sleep) from the senior residence telling me my Mom managed to get out & run away and they couldn't find her :s after a search of premises and surrounding property. She managed to find her way back to the residence but I had to take her to hospital for a dose of antipsychotic and wait with her til it kicked in. She had missed her regular dose a couple times (I've found the tiny pills on the carpet before) and hallucinations and delusions happen as part of the LBDementia and there isn't much we can do about it. I'm making arrangements today to have the care aids help them with medications as Dad doesn't see if the really tiny pills are missing/on the speckled design carpet when he gets them out of the blister pack. Amazing boss & coworkers covered my shift on very short notice and are super supportive too. I slept for 11 hours between dinnertime nap and last night's regular sleep, so obviously exhausted - but feeling better now. Both Mom & Dad are feeling better too <3.

Gah back to work tonight...boo! Vacation went well except for Spirit Airlines...I paid for my mom to fly down and come on vacation with us. Spirit Airlines is one of only like 6 airlines that fly to Myrtle Beach International. She arrived on time for her flight; it got pushed back twice before they cancelled. They didn't have flight attendants for the plane. How???? It's a Saturday in August and you're flying a plane full of people to the beach....that was awful. I angry cried. But on the plus side, my mom is going to drive down next weekend for a quick visit.

@canadjineh I hope your folks are okay!! We went to North Myrtle Beach for a week with family. We've done it the past couple years, it's a nice break and let's us enjoy summer some before the school year starts back up.

@sufferlandrian I'm glad you're getting some evenings at home with the family! And, as always, I love the pictures.

@canadji - wow! That’s go to be driving you crazy. I can’t imagine the stress level while you’re looking for her. Hope getting some help with the pills helps.

@bethanie - I understand how they could end up without crew. The FFA mandates so many hours of rest after a certain number of flying hours. It only takes one delay and the domino affect can leave an entire plane stranded without a crew. It’s still incredibly frustrating that they didn’t have a back up crew somewhere. 😡

@sufferlandrian I don't know what happened. My mom was told that they had a crew but had to send them elsewhere. I've never had this problem on any other airline, even with delays and cancellations due to weather and air traffic being heavy. I got what I paid for unfortunately. Never again!

Kinda difficult getting back to the craziness after lounging about on the comfy couch ;)

I spent a lot of time riding. It's my escape and stress relief. On a bike I'm free. I can move much more free than jogging. Jogging hurts my back after a while. I can see beautiful things and occupy my mind with non work stuff. I can think through problems if I want or ignore them and just enjoy the ride. It's a big stress relief. I do have to admit, my bikes keep getting more expensive. However, it's a small price to pay for being able to take a break from worrying about everyone else's problems.

We had this big employee thing going on at work. Lots of food and everything, I didn't eat any of it. I won a certificate and a candy bar for my involvement with extra activities. I gave the candy bar away. Then I won the big gift basket that was filled with junk snacks, movie passes, and a dinner gift card.
I know eating junk is ok in moderation, but this is going to take me months to go through even in moderation.

I grew up getting food as a reward. It's a hard habit to break. I do good, I get a candy bar. I'm proud of you for passing on all the food at the shindig. :-) I would have caved.

Oh believe me, I was pushing that deadline. Prof gave me a 2-week extension, and I still only got it in 30 mins before the deadline, lol!
