I'm not offended so please don't think that. I just don't want to be the newbie who make established members leave. I know how frustrating that is. I have a great group of women on another site for ttc support and another great group of ladies here for the healthy lifestyle. So I will be fine and your other members may be more willing to come back if I'm not posting here. I'm not going to be able to restrain myself from ttc topics because that's more important to me than the 6 vanity pounds I want to lose so this is probably not the appropriate place for me afterall. No big deal and no hard feelings on my end.

Everyone here has TTC as a common goal, but for most it isn’t something we have control over. It’s not about loosing vanity pounds but sustaining a healthy living habits that we can one day pass on to our children.
I’m with Jalara and AlisaToth, we don’t want to see you leave. Your input has been appreciated, whether it was on weight loss or TTC.

Oops, I was also under the wrong impression about the purpose of the thread. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my TTC posts! :flowerforyou: I joined a TTC/pregnancy forum (BabyandBump.com) earlier today so I can post my TTC business in a more appropriate place. :embarassed: And I've been part of a wonderful weight loss support thread on MFP for over a year so I'll just stick with them about that stuff. Again, my apologies!

Directly quoting the "intro" page: "This group is being started to lend support and motivation to those who are TTC, or plan to TTC."

However, we are on a weight loss/healthy living website so to both Ericaroo & LittleSpy (and anyone else...)i'd hate to see you guys leave too. I believe (please correct me if i'm wrong) that we are supposed to be "lending support and motivation" in living healthier lifestyles and losing weight to acheive the common goal of eventually or currently TTC...so both topics are appropriate here we just don't want one to over shadow one over the other!

I'm eating sugarfree jello....and I'm not sure how i feel about it...i LOVE sugarfree pudding, I can't taste the difference...but the jello is coming across a little tangy?

I don't want to see anyone leave!! I'm not actively TTC yet, so I don't have much to contribute to certian topics but everyone here is such a wealth of knowledge that I hate to see anyone go.

I'm currently watching DH eat a toaster strudel and all I want to do is pull it out of his hands. But I will be happy with my frozen mango fruit bar. He's UNDERweight for his height so he can eat whatever he wants. He came down stairs this morning to tell me he lost another 2 pounds.....how I have no idea, all he does is eat. His current weight is about 20 pounds less than my goal weight. I told him he needed to walk away from me before he got hurt.

I was very proud of myself that I was able to make pizza for dinner, eat 1/2 the pie and still be under my calories for the day. DH loved it, and had no idea that didn't use the full fat cheese. I actually have to eat something else before I go to bed so that I can hit 1200 calories. This is very, very rare for me!!

Alisa - I don't have a problem with sugar free jello, but it has to be the pre-made kind in the portioned out cups. If I make it at home.....yuck!!!!

NOBODY MOVE!!!! :smokin: (probably not very appropriate for this site) :flowerforyou:

Jalara's intention wasn't to kick anyone out, or to stop any particular conversation.
I think it's great when you guys talk about your experiences with Oing, Temping, etc. However, we should all still be reminded that we need to maintain a healthy lifesyle. Heck, we can be stuffing our faces with ice cream and still trying to TTC "healthy" right?
I know for me, I've had a hard time "fitting in" because like Alisa I'm not actively TTC and I didn't feel like I could contribute to the group unless I was, so I became the silent observer to see if anyone has become successful in their efforts.

I believe everyone should stick around and should try to help each other in any way possible, but please know that we all have the same goal......we need to be healthy TTC'ers.

Curves was fun! I had my first session tonight with the trainer. Just 1 time around and I was SO tired! Definitely a good choice for someone as out of shape as me.

I think that it is important to remember that just because your arent "actively TTC" right now, that doesnt mean that when you are you wont have a hard time getting pregnant. I think that it is so important to be aware of the possibilities. So the way i see it is all the education i can get will only benefit me wether it be about weight loss or TTC. I think if you have something to post about weight loss then post it and if no one responds then better luck next time. If you have something to post about TTC then you should post and if no on replies well then things happen.

I've heard that Curves is a really great place - circuit training is really great for conditioning.

Tonight I'm going back to Zumba! I did it all last winter, and then stopped. I'm heading back tonight! The good part is that a girlfriend of mine is going too, which makes it so much more fun!

    *Edit - Happy mid-week everyone!

So I’m walking to the gym last night when it starts to downpour! I ran the last 4 blocks to the gym (and was impressed that I can actually do that now) and was so completely drenched that I could ring out my clothes and have filed out a bucket! Unfortunately I didn’t expect the random downpour and had worn my gym clothes out rather than bringing them with me. All that to say I was too drenched to take my Taebo class and the class was starting in 10 minutes (it takes my 30 to walk to the gym) so there was no way I was getting back home and back to dry off and change before I worked out. So I went back home.
So now I have one less day of workouts in, and to top it off I ate a shish taouk for supper, so there went my daily calories, I would have been fine had I worked out! I guess I’ll just need to do better today.
On a TTC note, I’ve been feeling pre-AF cramps, so I’ll probably start next week. It’ll be my first full cycle of temping so hopefully I’ll get a clearer picture of what’s happening with my body.

    Have fun at Zumba Jalara
I've heard great things about curves Jenn, enjoy!

Jalara - Have fun at Zumba! I definitely want to try it when I get in better shape.

abeare - You still got a little workout walking/running to the gym and back!

I am trying REALLY hard not to give in to my temptations today! Im hope from work today and just really want a yummy, horribly bad breakfast. Please give me the strength to eat my fruit and granola bar and move on!!
  • Well, DH and I did about half of our walk since we realized that we were too short on time since we were having somone over for dinner. But, I was happy that I moved my butt for almost 40 minutes plus a little BDing, I feel good about it! I also ate pretty well, but not great. I was under calories at least. I was sitting on the couch last night & told DH I really wanted to eat junk, but I didn't (other than the 1 cupcake I had earlier)! I was proud of myself!

Happy Wednesday Ladies! It's going to be a good day! (only bc i said so! ) Actually the day started out VERY nicely! Hubster is back to working during the day (well he has a 14hour day today so he won't be home until late...but tomorrow he'll be home at a normal time) so we all got up and ate breakfast together! I made egg white veggie omlets...YUM! P kept telling me how yummy the "egg rolls" were! (i love 5yr/o logic!) Brought a salad for lunch, melon for morning snack and greek yogurt for afternoon snack...eating good so far!

Jalara! I have Zumba tonight too! I'm excited! I love going bc i feel like i can eat WHATEVER I want! I think i'm going to try to eat healthy for dinner and use up some of my calories on leftover cheesecake! (i can't eat it most days bc it is like 250cal for 1/2 a slice!)

I'm still spotting although it's getting lighter....I am pretty much convinced i will be bleeding for 2 weeks straight since AF is supposed to be here next week...Things are a little different now since Hubster will be here until like the 15th or 16th (instead of leaving this weekend) so we'll have to be extra careful once i do finally stop spotting/bleeding bc i won't be on BC anymore after this upcoming monday!

I hope everyone is having an awesome Wednesday! I think Wednesday's are my favorite day of the week....makes me feel like i'm on the downhill slope!

Ahhh! It’s Wednesday already? Of course the week flies by when I’m not working. I’ve noticed that I eat much better when I’m home than I do at work. Maybe because I’m so busy doing stuff around the house and not sitting at a computer all day? I tried to add this to the list of reasons why DH should let me be a housewife, but he didn’t buy it. :ohwell:

I just got back from getting my bridesmaid dress altered. It was HUGE on me! I should have gone with my gut and ordered the smaller size, but I couldn’t guarantee how much weight I would lose and didn’t want to chance it being too small on me. My bank account is not very happy with me, but it was nice to finally go to a fitting and not panic about not being able to zip up the dress.

jarla - I’ve always wanted to try Zumba, but no one will go with me and I don’t have the courage to try it alone.

abeare – it stared to pour during my jog yesterday. I think the worst part was my soggy sneakers, but you still got a great workout going there and back.

    Happy Wednesday! :flowerforyou:
Jalara~ Have fun at Zumba!
abeare~ Way to go on running/walking to the gym! I'm sorry Mother Nature was not working with you!
Jennwith2ns~ Good luck with those temptations! I am with you!
Mellie~ Good job not going for the Junk and moving!
AlisaToth~ Great job on the healthy eating! Have fun at Zumba and mmmmm Cheesecake!!

I have been eating horrible lately and I'm afraid I'm slipping into some bad habits. I was doing well, but the junk food has got the best of me lately. Last week I made the goal to only eat out once and that didn't happen. We made it all the way to Friday "Pizza Day", but then DH wanted Texas Roadhouse on Sunday. So that through me way over! This rental house (which we are still not done renovating; hopefully within the next week or so!!) is taking all the time and money away from my healthy life...hmm that sounded like an excuse to me... Maybe I just have to try a little harder. I found if I plan on what I'm going to eat for the day I do much better. Guess it's time to sit down and plan everything for the week again. 2.2lbs in a month is not going to make my goals a reality, time to step it up! Can you ladies help me with healthy snacks? What is your favorite? Any that are known to promote fertility?
On the exercise front, I'm sure I could do more as well. I have only been making it to Zumba 1-2 times a week when my goal was 3 times a week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I teach dance, so I am at least getting some then. I have been trying to really move with my girls and not become a "lazy" teacher. I have seen some dance teachers just sit back and tell the students what to do and barely do it themselves. I have even taken some moves from zumba and use them as a warm-up for my girls. This past Sunday I tried Z-Boxing and have been sore ever since! It was a great workout and pushed me to new lengths, but the instructor had NO rhythm. :noway: Thank goodness there was another girl that was helping her teach that had some dance back ground and could stay on the beat. It makes it very hard to follow when the steps are not even and offbeat. I would do it again, but not on a regular basis.
This weekend the in-laws are coming down again to help us finish the few things we have to do on the rental. Hopefully we can get it done, or pretty darn close! Unfortunately, it means a lot of good food (luckily homemade and pretty healthy), snacks(not homemade and terribly! ), and not a lot of exercise with my MIL that doesn't want me to lose anymore weight. :ohwell:
I still haven’t seen AF (9mo since last Depo Shot) or any signs that she's coming. :grumble: Oh well, I'm just going to enjoy not having her around!

    Wow I'm chatting today...LOL
    One more question
Does anyone know the average cost (in US) to get pants taken in? I have all my work pants from last winter that I know will have to be taken in. I'm trying to figure out if I should alter them or just get new...

Happy Wednesday!! I too enjoy the feeling of being halfway through the week.

I've been absent for the past four days but it looks like i missed a lot. I'm sad to see a few people leaving the group :(

I had an okay weekend i didn't overeat too much so I watch my portions but i did have cravings for desserts that I did give in too a few times. I feel so unmotivated in the exercise department these days i'm sure if it's because it's fall but I need to snap out of it.

Glad to hear about the lb losses keep at it ladies! :)

Kcurtis: I am in the SAME boat! I bought a bunch of work pants at the beginning of summer and i bought them WITH the intention of having them taken in, but just haven't. I literally have never worn them! However, the reason i did that is bc i have really wide hips (a big thank you to my son for THAT!) and skinny legs and ZERO butt! So i'm a size 10 (sometimes 8 depending on the cut) in my hips and like a size 6 to 8 in my legs. I end up with either SUPER baggy legs/butt or fitted nicely in my legs and butt but terrible muffintop/too tight around the waist! Pants look funny on me unless they are cut in a very specific way! I'm kinda putting off getting them taken in bc the temps haven't really dropped too bad around here...but here in the next month or so i'm going to need to. i'm sick of wearing skirts/dresses or the 3 pairs of dress capris that i have!

On the snack front, I have a morning snack and a afternoon snack...everyday. It's what jumpstarted my weight loss again! I normally will do yogurt (sometimes F.F dessert kind, sometimes greek with honey or fruit...i like to change it up) bc i KNOW i don't get enough calcium. I like those 100calorie cottagecheese fruit doubles (i like pineapple and strawberry) Fresh fruit is always good, today i brought melon! Um...I like to do the laughing cow soft cheese with some wheat thins, or a babybel Gouda with some grapes!

Alisa, enjoy the cheesecake, it’s always better when you have to work for your treats.

Ron2282 – the squishy running shoes were bad, but even worse was that my jogging pants were so drenched that they were ridding down! Oh and not to mention that when I took my hoodie off at the gym, my t-shirt underneath was only wet on my breast, I looked like I was lactating!

Kcurtis05 – I found an article about snacks to boost your fertility.
    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2457826/great_snack_foods_for_women_on_a_fertility.html
Fruit & veggies are always good options, I make bran oatmeal muffins that are pretty healthy and make for a good snack (I can send you the recipe if you’re interested), yogurt or apple sauce, wheat thins and laughing cow cheese (one of my favorites too Alisa), I also make my own trail mix (I buy everything individually to be sure the nuts are raw rather than roasted or salted).
I usually try to stay away from rice cakes or those Melba breads simply because they don’t have any real nutrients to them and are just empty calories.

I have always wanted to do Zumba but i seriously have no coordination so i am too nervous to go and make a foo out of myself. I do have the flirty girl fitness dvds that are super fun and my DH enjoys watching me do them ;);)...

Ive heard good things about curves as well. I just with they had one in my town that i live in. and maybe if it were a little cheaper. but i have friends who have joined and they totally love it.

I weighed yesterday which i shouldnt have. I suppose it can be water weight from AF but i was trying really hard to lose 5 pounds before the cruise cause i know i may gain 5 pounds. So i wanted to lose the 5 just to gain it back :(

Resist Jalara! Resist! Or budget them in...but that mean's you'll have to give something else up later...are they worth it?

Ivygirl....I ALWAYS feel ridiculous doing Zumba! I have been going to the same class long enough i feel like i know more of the routines better...but still the lack of rhythm makes for pretty much jumping around for an hour! :-) But hey, in my opinion...there are only 2-3 out of the 15-20 girls in there who actually look like they know what they're doing! So i feel like im' in good company jumping around like an idiot burning 400-500 calories in an hour...

abeare - I glanced at that article and got really excited when Avacados were on there....I could eat a whole avacado everyday! (but dont bc of the high calories...but they ARE good calories...) I plan to start buying more and incoorperating them into my daily diet! Everyone else in my house likes them too, my husband likes me to put them in my "bullet blender" and make like an avacado spread for his turkey sandwiches...YUM!

ivygirl - Trust me, zumba+uncoordination CAN go together!!! My sister & I are the most uncoordinated people I know (seriously, we trip UP steps...haha)...We go every week and absolutely LOVE it. We got to the point where we didn't really give a crap what people thought about our "moves". Just go & jump around & move a lot!

M&M's.... mmmm, so good.... I just went to get groceries (after lunch, so I wasn't hungry), but then my belly was rumbling towards the end. I resisted buying any candies.... and I didn't even stop at Dairy Queen. I wanted to SOOO bad! MMmm, just the sound of "ooey, gooey, caramel brownie blizzard makes my mouth water!!! :P

On the fertility food note, another one is sweet potatoes... which I now love! Also, fresh pineapple will help with your lining/implantation.

Peanut Butter M&Ms are right next to me....... I want them so bady!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I bought a bag of them last night for a co-worker who is coming over tomorrow. I hid them in the back of my pantry.
  • I'm going to my first Curves workout tonight as well! I signed up yesterday and got weighed and measured... one thing I"m not impressed with though is I'm SURE they added an inch or so to my measurements since I measure myself regularly and I'm sure they were way off! Plus she showed me their little chart and it said I was OBESE!!! :noway: I know I need to lose a few, but OBESE??? Personally I think they try to make you look worse at the beginning so they can show you how great their program is! I got a month for free so I guess we'll see how it goes!

As for the topic discussion around here, I'm sorry if this is too upfront or whatever, but to me, this thread now feels like everyone is walking on eggshells and people are afraid to talk about anything related to TTC if it's not strictly fitness and health related. The last couple of pages to me seemed the same as any other group on this site. I personally LOVED the TTC discussions and I am not ready to TTC (as a single mom by choice if you recall) until next year. I may not have participated in a lot of discussions but was (and am) a daily lurker. If I have something to say or contribute whether it's ttc related or fitness related, I speak up then. I don't feel like I need to be included in every discussion in order to feel included in the group if I'm enjoying what I read. I hope the tension dies down and people will continue to talk about their dreaded AF's and all the lovely BDing they get to do (lucky gals! ) as much as they feel like again. Be yourself. This board and this website belongs to us all.

Just my two cents. Luv u all! :flowerforyou:

    Hello All,

So I've caught up from the weekend and WOW a lot has been going on. I have to say that i agree with Ivy and Jenny. I'm not sure why TTC as a topic is an issue. If there's something that someone wants to talk about (rather struggles with weight, eating, exercise, etc), then they should post it :flowerforyou: I just like to talk, so someone post something I will more then likely comment on it. I don't fully understand why people would leave the group. I don't think i've noticed anyone being ignored when they posted anything. I'm pretty sure the complaints were about me, and I will fully admit that when I'm in the 2WW I am completely consumed with it. My hubby rolls his eyes at me more often then anything and pretty much any conversation I have with anyone will somehow relate to something "getting pregnant" related  . I think my family and friends that don't know we are TTC think I'm planning to be an OB or something. Much like Erica, I have other groups for both fitness/health as well as TTC, I was just excited to find a group where I can talk about my 2WW as well as my meltdowns and the struggles I have with eating and the 2WW. I think having the combo group like this helps keep my healthy lifestyle goals at the forefront when I'm clearly distracted by the 2WW. I don't want other people to leave the group because of things I post. I am happy to bow out, friend up with anyone in this group (either way, I like friends  ) and continue with my other groups. :flowerforyou:

That being said, I did have responses to a lot of the things that were posted the past couple days:

Abeare – How was the broth? How do you make veggie broth? Just boiled veggies?

Jenn – I have days (normally Fridays because those are the days I weigh in at Weight Watchers) that I start my day off at Starbucks and not one thing that goes into my body is from home. That is my goal this week, on Friday I can do Starbucks and I can do dinner out, but I need to eat my lunch and snacks at home!!!

Alisa – KFC is not good with the sodium, but I love that stuff. My daughter is a “dilly dawdler” as I like to call her (like her daddy), she walks slower than anything snail I’ve seen. She’s really enjoying running on our walks and I have to actually push myself to keep up with her. I estimate (comparing how hard I have to push myself) that she can run a 15 min mile :O) I’m glad your hubby is home for an extra week and I hope it doesn’t mess Thanksgiving up. We have a gym here that is $80 a month, plus $60 for child care AND (get this) you have to make reservations for the child care, you can’t just drop in if your kid is having a rough day and you both need a break from each other. No thank you!

Jess –I notice a HUGE difference when I drink water and when I don’t. I have a 32 oz reusable bottle and I make a point of drinking 1 bottle before lunch and the 2nd before the end of the day (my goal is by dinner so I’m not up 100 times to go pee at night, but that doesn't always happen). I can also drop 3 lbs in one week just by not eating out (even if I track and stay within my calories eating out). Those two make a huge difference for me. It is all small steps and it sounds like you’ve made quite a few. Maybe a list of things you want to change and pick one. Once you feel you’ve incorporated that one item in and you feel pretty routine about it, add another one. I’ve been doing that since really having a hard time getting back on track the past month and I think it’s helping.

Ron – Great with no gain being in AC. I am not pleasant to be around if I don’t get enough sleep. I’m pretty sure that’s why my hubby didn’t mind getting up with our daughter a lot when she was a baby  . I also hear you on the slipping up. I just stared faking it until I make it and a couple days later and I’m back on track. What kind of cheese did you use on the pizza?

Kcurtis – I have a problem with eating out once a week too. I can have everything ready to go for dinner and my hubby will walk in and say, “Mexican?” and I say, “yes please!” I swear!!! We've gotten better about dinner, but now we keep doing lunch.

Jenny – Maybe the people at Curvs are measuring wrong, if I ask my hubby to measure me he messes it all up :noway: he either pulls it too tight to make it look like I lost, or lines it up wrong. As far as “obese” etc, there’s a tool on here that tells you where you are with your BMI. I'm not sure how much I believe in a BMI, but I know I'm not heavy due to muscle so I kind of go by it. Keep teetering between obese and overweight. I have no idea how much you weigh, so I'm just saying this for information, not implying anything

So, I’ve had a pretty good week this week. I’m back to drinking soda, I think I have bigger battles to fight then that right now. We did have lunch out yesterday and today (I've got to stop!), but both were within my calories and I was happy. Even Mexican food, only 1 chip and black beans rather then refried beans. I have only done Starbucks the days I said I would. I think I’m doing pretty good! I’m proud of myself  I just finished my 64 oz of water and it's 3:00. It always amazes me how I can have a day like yesterday where I don't want water and today I'm going to refill my bottle for the 3rd time.

Anyhow, I hope you all have a great Wednesday!!! and all is well!

OMFG - that wasn't like any Zumba I've ever been through! I'm wiped out!

It was awesome! I'm going again next week. With a 2nd bottle of water. there's a girl in the preggo group that did it her whole pregnancy - I have no idea how!

M&Ms - I had some. I did. there were great. And I drank 2.5 cups of water with them so I would get full quick.

Holy crow - need to go fall over for a little while.....

Jenny.. I hope you enjoy Curves tonight! I think everyone does measurements just a little different, so from now on try to get the same trainer check yours and focus on the difference between them from now. I definitely dont think they would just add inches for the hell of it, they know you know your size/weight. Im not sure what the numbers are to make someone obese, but I know I must be in that range or worse! Im sure you could google it or something. I believe it is based on your BMI though. Wasnt the fat meter scary?!

I haven't responded to the TTC issue because I am new and I was here only 2 days before the subject came up. I see no problems with how jalara mentioned what she did. I think she was very fair and kind about it. I do think this thread should be mostly about losing weight and getting fit & healthy but I dont see the issue with talking about TTC. If someone doesnt know what to say to certain topics, they can just skip over those. I have nothing to say about certain topics either. There are workouts I have never done, and I will just pas by it and move on to the next. Honestly I dont see the problem at all. I understand some here are actively TTC and some never have, but theres no reason why we cant all stay and talk about a variety of things as long as getting fit for our future families is our primary goal.

Today i did flirty girl fitness for 25 minutes before i gave up because i was just too tired. I have never really exercised while AF is here and i dint realize the fatigue it brings on...

My problem is that once it starts getting hard i stop because im like ok its getting hard now which means i have worked out enough for it to make a difference, Um thats not true. I need to be like the ppl on the biggest loser and work through the pain. U am sure if feels so much better...
