I'm amazed at how many people own guns.

Why? Am I really supposed to defend myself and my 4 kids with pepper spray?

That's a lot of guns..... Then again, I live in the UK so it's not normal at all here to do that. *shrugs*

A light, half-dead alarm clock and earplugs for when the drunkards above me get too noisy.

If your criminals had guns, you'd want one too.

A Kentucky long rifle, a Sherman tank, Claymore mines and a Bowie knife. A hand gun just isn't American enough.

The sad truth is that most of the illegal guns that people are supposedly protecting themselves from with the guns in their nightstands were stolen from another person who thought keeping a gun in a nightstand was somehow handy and clever. It's so stereotypical that many burglaries are now targeted at those guns and people don't even know they were stolen until they happen to open the gun drawer for some other reason days or weeks later. In case you didn't notice, most break ins happen when you aren't home.

Do us all a favor and lock up your guns in a safer place. You can still bring them out to cuddle for comfort when you go to bed. And no, your silly little trigger lock is not going to prevent a theft.

So why exactly are your weapons in your nightstand then?

I am more amazed by the number of people who just announced to the MFP population exactly where they keep their guns. I have one, but no night stand...
If you get past my 90 pounds rottie you are welcome to look...and you better pray you are right!

I'm sure people are smart enough to put their nightstand gun in their lockbox/hidden location or holster for carry.

    maybe.
