Why do so many female body builders get fake boobs?

In most case it's because when they get to very low BF, they literally have no boobs at all. Female breast are mostly fat so if you drop to 9-10% BF, that pretty much gets rid of all that.0

she's physique too- not a body builder- if memory serves me correctly.
I'm wildly annoyed I can't see the pictures- I love DLB. I want to marry her- and we can have amazing thexy shredded babies- but we may have to adopt- because I don't want to push one out and she probably doesn't either.
Would it be safe to assume that most women in the body building category are not "natural"?0 -

I do my best to assume NOTHING about people just because it winds up making me look like an *kitten* more often than not.
They have tested and untested categories. If I had to assume- I would assume NO ONE in untested is NOT natty.
There is a pretty big difference between the natty's and the none's- so it's probably a safe assumption- (but again I dislike making them-)
You honestly can really put some decent size on without drugs- enough that people will question your sexual orientation AND your drug habits. (ask me how I know)- but no- I think to be a pro lifter at that level- in the untested- you aren't natty. But again- I couldn't tell you for sure- because well- assuming things is bad. LOL0 -
its a bit depressing when your chest muscles are bigger than your boobs.
don't project- if it was THAT depressing- they would stop lifting.
Nothing wrong with big chest muscles and small boobs!!! also nothign wrong with big chest muscles and big boobs!
I'd be totally happy with with the big/small ratio though- i hate my breasts.
I was talking from personal experience. I'd never give up weight training as I enjoy it so much but it doesn't stop me being slightly annoyed that my boobs have disappeared and my increased chest muscles make them look even flatter.
I can totally understand why they would get implants to look more feminine, especially as female bodybuilding guidelines state that female competitors should have muscle definition but still look feminine.
LOL indeed- I'm not hating on anyone- I personally really like my chest definition- I wouldn't want pancake boobs- because I don't want to get so big they all but go away- but I'd be happy if they were smaller- I'm a D- and I could be perfectly happy being a B- push up bra's fill the gap nicely. Plus decent sized implants can look very good.0 -
I think my b-cups on top of some nicely sized/semi defined pecs look pretty darn good. I have cleavage for the first time in my life, yes it's from the pecs, not the boobs but I'm okay with that.0

BECAUSE FAKE BOOBS ARE AWESOME! Seriously I say good morning to mine every morning.0
-
If you can touch them they're real. Just sayin'.0
-
I would assume it's because boobs are mostly fat and when you're a competitive body builder you have such a low BF% that they then have next to no boobs.0
-
I actually watched a documentary on women body builders and part of the scoring is how feminine they look. Because of their low fat percentage, they loose their boobs. Fake ones obviously make them look more like a woman, cuz lets me honest, if some of them had short hair, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
You sir, clearly have never been to Thailand.0 -
Probably because these women aren't defined solely by the fact that they are bodybuilders? They are human beings with a variety of interests and attributes, and bodybuilding just happens to be something they enjoy. Also, they probably don't walk around doing competition poses most of the time. So, I'm sure that 99.9% of the time the breasts don't look as exaggerated as they do in these photos.
These are strong women with presumably fairly broad shoulders and narrow waists. So, if they want to wear any kind of feminine clothing (as opposed to only wearing men's clothes) it helps to have something on the front to fill out the shirt.
What I want to know is why so many women feel comfortable publicly shaming other women based on their appearance.
The OP asked a question, a.legitimate one because she didn't understand. There were some very good answers, even yours, until you get to the last line. What i want to know is why so many people play the shaming card when that really isn't the case. People call everything shaming and bullying to the point now that it cheapens the terms and makes it difficult to recognize real shaming and bullying.
Yeah, it's probably because of this line:I just fail to understand why people would sabotage their appearance in such a way.
But anyway, as everyone else said: to balance physique, for their competitions, for their personal liking, etc.0 -
Female breast are mostly fat
That isn't always true.0 -
Correct me if wrong, but I think DLB explicitly states she's "lifetime natural"?0
-

That's actual true. The "fake" ones I touched seemed pretty real to me. I wonder if her surgeon is still in the business to do mine? Hmmm...:bigsmile:0 -
Hooray for boobies..............both bought and natural :-)0
-
Correct me if wrong, but I think DLB explicitly states she's "lifetime natural"?
Maybe states that but from what I recall she was found out for taking gear of some kind, lost some cred for that. That said, she is a physique competitor, not a body builder, completely different look.0 -
Low BF% = no boobs = but they want boobs = fake boobs0

yeah I remember there being a big to do about her NOT being natty- but it is what it is.
You still have to put the work in- that stuff doesn't magically make muscle and low body fat- she's definitely put the work in- there is no question.0 -

completely agree. It may actually be harder as gear helps you recover quickly so you can workout even more with less recovery time, which also makes it easier to grow, if you do the work.0 -
Because it's tough for many to maintain breast size when they are competitively low in body fat all year around. It comes with the territory and none of the competitors shame each other for getting implants.
I wish female body building was still like it was back in the 80's. Rachel McLish, Kiki Elomaa, Juliette Bergman, Carla Dunlap..........a feminine look with no steroids. Yesteryear's female body builders look like todays figure competitors.

so now we have advanced into hair shaming...
HAAAAAAAAAAA brilliant! Best thing I've heard all day.
DLB looks great in clothes and her pecs/boobs look good to me in that outfit.
Fake boobs and steriods = cheating to me but they are both understandable nonetheless.0 -

Intredasting. Hadn't heard, but I don't pay attention to IFBB comps any more because of the way the competitors who do get tested game it.
Think it's also worth noting that anybody who doesn't follow this stuff in any capacity would call any ripped/shredded/strong-looking woman a "bodybuilder". Bit sad, 'cause - as you say - there is a pretty big distinction between fitness/figure/physique/BBers, etc.0 -

Excuse my ignorance. I highly doubt most people would know that there were differences. But I guess thats why we ask questions in the first place otherwise no one would know anything at all.0 -
as a breast cancer survivor with an implant i look at these and wonder why they are above the muscle and not under it like mine is...."shrugs" maybe mine was a better doctor0

Man Rachel McLish- that's a name I haven't heard in YEARS.
totally agree with the body builders of the old looking like today's physique/figure.Think it's also worth noting that anybody who doesn't follow this stuff in any capacity would call any ripped/shredded/strong-looking woman a "bodybuilder". It's wildly amusing how lean are when people start making the lesbian/steroid use comments. hint- it's not exceptional big- decently lean- but not big.
You don't have to be big- or shredded for people think you are steroid- you just have to be a little cut to think it. People have NO idea what it's really like- they think any chick who has definition and a little size is juicing. LULZ- yes- I said juicing- I still like the expression.0 -
Did someone say Boobs???0
-
I'm a natural bodybuilder. When I'm in off season I'm lucky to have B cup. When I'm stage ready I have A's. With very low body fat and genetically having little breast tissue I just don't have boobs. I'm nearly flat chested especially since I'm tall. I won't get a boob job because that means I'd have to take time off from lifting, but I've wanted to get them to at least fill out the wind socks I have going on when lean.
Implants go on top of the muscle. They fill in the area where breast tissue is supposed to be. I'm a bit concerned by any doctor that would put it under the muscle.

Your body transformation is amazing and I think your A cups look fine. Sure they're not Nicki Minaj-esque voluptuous but they suit your frame and the body you worked hard for.
So in your personal case the main reason for considering a boob job is to fill out your wind socks - I have no idea what that is but it sounds hollow!0
