"GALS"

Options
Am I completely and totally ignorant?

My poor sister in law was fuming over a memo that included the word "gals" as in "guys and gals".

She was so upset because a coworker complained that the word "Gals" is a racial slur.

Is the word "gals" really a racial slur????

I wouldn't take offense to it. Friends and people around me use that term quite a bit, so if it's offensive to some, I'm clueless!

Am I detecting some sarcasm? She actually is quite delightful. One of smartest and coolest women I've ever met.

    Totally not offensive to me.

And it wouldn't be racist, but I guess if you're really overly sensitive it would be sexist.

I don't think i'ts a racial slur, but if it were at work it's not really appropriate.

    RACIAL??? No. LMAO

I can see an uber feminist getting upset at it being condescending or something (like calling grown women "girls," which doesn't bother me, but bothers some women). But it has no racial connotations at all.
