So a third of Americans are considered obese but we can't get one "average" guy with a belly in there? Total BS.

I know for a fact that men have these issues. I'm in a band with my boyfriend and brother, if you're up on that stage you worry that you dont look ideal, the focus is on you and people will judge. My boyfriend constantly asks me if he's getting fat. My brother will skip meals to stay in shape. They compare themselves to other people like us, in bands, in the watching eye of an audience. I'm very much the same, it upsets me to see it in them though, I'm the strong one who keeps them in the healthy path in that situation...

Bit of an extreme example as not eferyone on here goes out and performs but people who do may relate.

Those poses make me run dry - especially the "oh no the sun is in my sensitive eyes" pose.

Anyone who believes that men aren't affected by that stuff is delusional. Men are sorted and ranked by physical attributes beginning in preschool. Every day for a young boy is a constant measuring of oneself. The difference is that we are not taught to think about it. We're taught to not question it. To shut up and accept it. If you don't like where you're ranked, fight for it. Otherwise just shut up and keep your head down.

This is the most honest thing I have read on these forums. I can certainly see this. Men seem to automatically know how to play to their strengths. You don't see a naturally large, muscular guy bemoaning the fact that he doesn't have a gymnast's body and starving himself to be a male model. He just goes out for football instead.
And I have never heard any overweight man in real life, complain about how society doesn't accept him as obese. If it bothers him enough, he just does what he needs to do to lose the weight.
Not saying that men don't have body image issues, just that they don't whine about nearly as much as women do. They just either accept it, or do something about it.

Disclaimer- I am not lumping ALL men and women into this generalization. There are certainly many women who don't whine about society and just do what they need to do as well. And we have seen a couple of men whining on here about how hard it is to pick up girls in a bar when you are morbidly obese, and think that all the supermodels should be giving them their numbers. Yes because supermodels are walking around everywhere. Average women are the problem. They know they get approached by so many guys they can turn down anyone who doesn't meet some fake bar they've set.

I think most people can appreciate the hard work that goes into the artistry of a male model or a pro body builder, but we know that they don't look like that on a normal day. Or in the case of Photoshop, they may not look like that at any time. They are painted, pumped up, and often dehydrated to get the look they need for the photo shoot and BB competition.
Do we really think they walk around looking like that everyday?

Sure they might be nice to look at in magazines, but I would rather have a guy whose personality, sense of humor, and kindness is going to last a lot longer than his perfect physique.

I wonder if men think that models and porn stars really look like that on an everyday basis, and want their wives/gf to actually look like them?
