That doesn't change the fact that in the US, it is expected that you tip your Dentist.

Tip your dentist? Oh about the same amount you tip your gynecologist I'd guess. I'd think a tip would be insulting to a medical professional, but maybe not.

If your gynecologist was male, and did a really job, and you fancied him, you could let him give you a tip

    :embarassed:

I bet the checkups would be a lot more thorough if you tipped..
Do you think the dentist doesn't remember you?
You're the guy who NEVER tips.

My checkups take about 17-25 minutes, and are VERY thorough.

Hahaha, now you are just crackin me up...

You are not even reading what i say, and you think everything works like it does in US...

Dude, it's just him. People in the US don't and are not expected to tip the dentist. Or GPs, or eyedoctors or any other healthcare people.

And I bet you think long waits at the Doctors office, or Dentist for you are coincidental as well?

I have plenty of family members in the medical field, and my fiancee is an MD.

When I entered this thread I was initially embarrassed that the OP didn't know the correct amount to tip. Now I'm astounded at the number of people posting In This Thread that don't tip at all.

That's not a tip, that's a bribe. I had no idea people were "tipping" doctors. Really. This is the first I've heard.

Not going to waste my time with frivolous links, the OP and I are both from the US, and I never said anything about any other country other than being surprised at how few individuals tip their healthcare professionals.

The only person I tip (except for a waiter/waitress) is my hairdresser. I usually give her a 5-10 dollar tip and my regular haircut is $27. But I know my hairdresser pretty well personally and she's just fabulous!

I'm pretty sure dentists make enough money without tips.

I only tip people who actually depend on tips such as servers, bertenders, strippers, etc.

You call Italy a non western country...

I smell a troll, but keep on rolling and trolling

First rule of trolling, never tell you are trolling even if exposed as a troll

You got it wrong again--bliss is you.
I thought he meant The US originally.
They don't even tip waitresses in Italy, so not surprised by that at all.
That doesn't change the fact that in the US, it is expected that you tip your Dentist.

Ignorance is bliss. Yes we tip waitresses in Italy---just less because THE TIP IS ALREADY INCLUDED in your bill--got it?

Really? You don't sound very blissful.

You got it wrong again--bliss is you.

I sense a great deal of bliss emanating from you after your last few posts.

Maybe you're right about the whole "ignorance is bliss," after all.

    My apologies.

Apology accepted, and looked at your profile--explains everything--you're only 20 yrs old. My youngest son is 20.

I have no idea how it works in US, assumed he did tip the dentist.

Just wanted to explain we can't and don't tip over here

You're not reading correctly, you tip 25% of your visit costs.

So it's 25% of whatever you pay at the time of your visit.

No wonder it is so simple for me then. I pay nothing at the time of my visit! I never heard of anyone in the states tipping the dentist. I have seen people send their OBs donuts or snacks for the office after delivering their child, but that is about it.

This is what happens when people are ignorant and they don't realize there are other countries whre they do things quiet differently...
It is crazy to hear in the US that drs are being tipped. In some part of Europe you tip your primary care dr ,dentist ,gyno etc...
And you dont tip your waiter... And when they come to the US they won't tip the waiter and won't tip valet etc...
So let's be open minded people - that's why we live this country!
