Juice Cleanse Challenge

I'm going to start a Juice Cleanse Challenge. 3 days, maybe 10 days of just drinking juice throughout the day, then incorporating lean meat with veggies for dinner and doing light activity daily. I've done this before and lost around 5-7lbs. It gave me so much energy, a clear mind, healthy skin, less breakouts, zero bloat, fastened my metabolism. Everyone noticed the difference in me physically and mentally. This is something I like to do a few times a year to renew myself and I'm thinking it will also break my plateau. So whose with me? I could use a few buddies!!!!!!!!!! :)

You'll gain back the weight at the same speed at which you lose it with a juice cleanse. It's really not necessary. Just eat at a deficit to lose weight, and try to hit your macros for nutrition purposes. To avoid feeling bloated just drink a lot of water every day.

What happened when you stopped the cleanse that time? You probably gained it all back. Quick fixes are not what you need, you need something that's sustainable long term, and that's losing weight at a good pace. With 10 pounds to lose you should aim to lose half a pound per week, you don't have to go so fast with such a small amount to lose.

What kind of juice? Why not just eat the fruits and veggies instead of juicing them?

That's 3-10 days of just juice. And probably pooping herself.

Doesn't change the fact the whole "juice cleanse" part is a waste of time....

if you'll allow me to draw on your extensive scientific background and expertise that you received while training to be an actor and ask you a question...

... doesn't this sound suspiciously like "the placebo effect" to you?

And if it is? The placebo effect is REAL. Those are REAL results - regardless of how she obtained them.

I don't think this is an example of placebo effect, but even if it is, who cares?

Juice is gonna "fasten" her metabolism too. Must've missed that as well.

    why do people do IF?

Lets just remind everyone of the following two rules:

    1. No Attacks or Insults and No Reciprocation

    a) Do not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user’s spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
    b) If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, you will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself or a friend is not an excuse! Do not take matters into your own hands – instead, use the Report Post link to report an attack and we will be happy to handle the situation for you.

    2. No Hi-Jacking, Trolling, or Flame-baiting

Please stay on-topic in an existing thread, and post new threads in the appropriate forum. Taking a thread off-topic is considered hi-jacking. Please either contribute politely and constructively to a topic, or move on without posting. This includes posts that encourage the drama in a topic to escalate, or posts intended to incite an uproar from the community.

    why do people do IF?

With IF, you are fasting for a given window in which you will get all your macro and micronutrients needs in that window. I highly doubt the OP will hit an adequate level of protein and fats during this fast.

Also most people IF because it fits their busy lifestyle or don't like breakfast.

So they don't have to lug 50 tupperware containers around? Because they like saving up my calories so they can eat more in one sitting then munching on 50, 100 calorie meals? There's a ton of reasons...

So you acknowledge, then, that you misread her post? She is indeed talking about just drinking juice for 3-10 days. Which is not necessarily going to harm her (although diarrhea can dehydrate you and also cause irritation of the lower digestive tract), but it is completely unnecessary for weight loss and/or health.
