I just turned 30 a few days ago and I just want a better life. I was told that if I don't make changes and lose some weight I will be diagnosed with hypertension. That and diabetes runs in my family and that isn't the life I want. I want to be married and have kids and travel the world. I'd love to get on the plane without having to ask for a seatbelt extender. I want to enjoy my life!

    All these reasons:
Looked up my BMI and seeing that I was 6 lbs away from the definition of morbidly obese.
Was afraid of having a stroke or heart attack.
Sleep apnea and feeling tired all the time.
Going into "foma" after each meal.
Having fasting blood sugar = borderline diabetes.
Finding out my mother got diagnosed and put on medication for diabetes.
Was buying XXL shirts for a 5'8" frame.
Had 2 cervical spine surgeries (fat head too heavy??).
Each year felt like I'm dying at the annual school father-daughter dance.
Worried that I will actually die way before my 2 daughters grow up.
After my ex fiancee fell out of love w/ me. Needed change in my life. Hard to explain this one.
I'm in the heath care field. Wanted to increase my credibility w/ patients.
Basically just decided that I was "done" feeling/looking this way.

    Simply a stark choice:

lose a lot of weight and get much fitter

    or

    die young

I've got a three year old son. Full of energy! I need to be a better role model for him when he's older, and be able to run around with him a more when he's still this young (and Dad's still cool!)

    Because I love myself.

My why has changed a lot through the years. Now more than ever before I workout and eat in moderation to glorify God. How can I claim to love God if I spend my days worshipping food and destroying the body He has given me? It's always a struggle but I give my best!
