I totally bombed my calorie goal yesterday but took it in stride! Back at it today!!26

It's my mom's birthday today and we cut two cakes- one was sent over by my aunt. I thought I would attack the chocolate cake as it's my most favourite dessert but I only ate half a slice as i didn't like the heavy cream. Abstenance from desserts during lockdown last year has made me lose my sweet tooth!!17

I saw a great quote that says sweet cravings are like stray cats, if you keep feeding them they stay!! good job.17 -
I made banana muffins for breakfasts to use up the old bananas.
I did not eat one while they were warm.15 -
I finally walked 3.5 miles in an hour, so speed and endurance has built up tremendously from where I started 4 months ago when I started out at 15 minutes at a time in the driveway.25

I bought a Vegan Galaxy Caramel Sea Salt Bar out of curiousity and ate half and through the rest in the bin because I liked the chocolate but didn't like the caramel, much too sweet and salty for my taste. At one time I wouldn't have thrown the other half away and would have eaten it the next day because it was chocolate. I am learning and changing habits!15

Great NSV Lynn! It's amazing how tastes can change.
Today I did a shoulder stand. Not really hard to do - but it was much easier than I thought it would be. Haven't done one in almost a decade. No way could I have done one that easily, this time last year.

I can easily fasten the clasp on the waist belt that I wear when I go out walking. Couldn't do that a month ago.16

I reached my Apple watch’s April challenge of going 356.1km a day early. I remember looking at the challenge when it first popped up and being hesitant in my ability to reach it. 11.3km per day seemed like a lot. I’m lucky I have an active job where I do anywhere up to 18,000 steps (10 hour days)
Also- I hummed and hahhed about going for my c25k walk/jog this afternoon and by the time I finished debating with myself the sun was well and truly down (I dislike the shorter days coming into winter!) so instead of doing nothing I done a tabata workout on YouTube and worked harder than I would have on my walk/jog12 -
Well done Tiger on being able to do the shoulder stand! That's terrific! So glad you are getting so much joy out of your new mobility! Sending you a big hug!!
Give yourself a big hug too!!4 -

That's brilliant!! Self motivation is the best motivation!!👍👍 I was feeling the same way about my dance workout today as it's unbearably hot here but I got it in and feel awesome!!6 -
Swam 400 meters in 15 mins without touching the ground. The exact distance I need to complete a triathlon sprint and swimming was my weak point before.23

I picked up a pair of clearance capris in a size 8 thinking I might be able to wear them later this summer. Just to see how far I had to go, I tried them on and they fit. They weren't tight. I can easily get my hands in the pockets too. I was really surprised because the scale hasn't moved in a month. So I tried some 10s in my closet that I hadnt wore yet because they were tight when I bought them and found out I better get to wearing them before they're too big. 😆 🤣35

I was able to walk just over 2 miles without stopping...it was slow but i made it....

Packed the wrong pants in my overnight bag. I'd brought along 'The Next Size Down' instead of the size I meant to.
Tried the pants on, even though they looked much too small.
They fit! 😃33 -
When I get out the shower, I can wrap a towel around myself and wear it back to my room.
I could never do that before.32 -
Went to the orthopedic surgeon for a final checkup/release for a broken ankle from 01FEB. I've lost 18.6 pounds since then. My ankle is completely healed and I had a glazed donut with sprinkles to celebrate.I ate slowly, the donut was much more dense than I remembered and the glaze was nauseatingly sweet. I'm not missing anything.26

I’m feeling depressed. I’m not losing. When I look in the mirror, I feel old, fat, unattractive. I’d lost lost 56 lbs but , over 2020, gained back 20. I’ve been trying to lose it again but I can’t seem to get back in the groove.
I’m going to try to start coming to this page daily and read about all of the NSF’s. I feel that I need to get my mind off of the numbers.
I’ve been weighing daily but I think I should stop that.
I can really use encouragement and suggestions.21 -

You are probably right - weighing daily may not be for you. What might help is to pick some entirely non weight related goal, like doing more in your fitness routine or walking a certain amount of time per day. When you achieve that mini goal take a moment to acknowledge that did what you set out to do. If you improve with something, take a moment to mentally celebrate. Then keep going.
To super charge your goals you can combine them with something you love - maybe there's a favorite kind of music you can listen to while exercising, or maybe you could have a goal of checking out a new walking trail every so often, or maybe you want to climb up Mount Everest using nothing but a set of normal stairs - who knows? Goals are as individual as people are. One fun idea is to mark your progress (like with exercise bike or walking) on a map so you can see how far you would have gone in the real world. It makes things more concrete instead of feeling like you are running on a hamster wheel and going nowhere.
As you achieve other kinds of goals - like cutting back on a certain high calorie food or exercising more or whatever it may be - I'll bet you'll feel your clothes start to fit better. Maybe weigh once a month, or once a week, just to make sure your'e not going far off track, but it sounds like daily weighing is counterproductive for you right now.
If you want to add me feel free - I've been in a similar place and would be happy to support you.19 -
@Sand_TIger
Thank you so much for the encouragement.
I like your suggestion of setting a fitness goal and focusing on that. I’m going on vacation in July and I definitely want to be able to be a “tourist “ without getting tired.
I may even set a NSV goal of not stepping on the scale every day! It seems to have a bad effect on me even if I show a loss.13 -
I used to wear a topaz ring when I was 18 and really skinny. I gained 20 kgs at 21 so of course I couldn't easily wear it. I tried the ring yesterday while going through my old jewelry and the ring fit!!26

I think it will be easier to show you....😁😁

the scale can be a love/hate thing. We set too much store by it I believe. Do the things you know your body needs, and the mini goals is a great idea. Bike to New Orleans! hike the Applachian trail (virtually). look for not being winded when walking or increasing your steps every 3 days or something. WE're here to support you!!12 -
I was sitting in a chair and bent down to tie my shoes and I was able to do it without holding my breath. My belly didn't get in the way! Yahoo!23

This weekend our classic car club went for a cruise. We stop at a local public park to use restrooms and stretch our legs. It also allowed for outdoor, socially distanced conversations. One of our members who hadn't seen me since before I started losing weight came up and introduced himself and asked me who I was. When I laughed at him and "oh Bob, you know me", he couldn't help himself and he blurted out "you've lost alot of weight". Another member told him he wasn't supposed to say that but I just smiled and said its ok. He's right and I'd hate to have worked this hard and there was no difference happening. Lol. Bob and I have spent alot of time together pre covid, so I know the change is big if he didn't recognize me.26

Went on vacation for a week to Florida. (I'm from Minnesota). All of the clothes that I brought with me from last summer were way to big for me. I'm going to have to do some shopping soon.19

On Sunday, my dog got out of the fence, and I ran a couple blocks to catch him. Didn't even think about it, just took off, and afterwards I thought, "what the heck did I just do?!?! " Later, I wasn't sore or hurting because of it, so I felt pretty good for that!36

Although I've only lost 3lbs in the last six weeks I took measurements today and have lost another 2.5 inches total during that same time. More than half of it was from the waist. I've also been consistent with my exercise routine the last couple of months so it's nice to see that it is making a difference.28
