YAY FOR US!!!!! It's such a great feeling to not hear yourself walking. lol10 -
Don't know if this is going to be a good one or a bad one until my body recomp. I have hip implants so I can't go through the X-ray machine at TSA when I fly, I have to go through a full body scanner.
This time it was really tough cuz they really did a through Pat down. Talking to one of the guys he asked me if I lost a lot of weight and I said yes. he said what the scanner is probably picking up is the loose skin. When he showed me the scan it made perfect sense it's where I have the most loose skin. Don't know if anybody else has experienced this.
On the other hand the plane seat didn't bother me at all.20 -
I went hill walking and we went up one particular hill, I normally avoid as I find it difficult, and we were at the top before I even noticed, and I had been talking all the way up!!!21

Working on a 45 day challenge. Part of yesterdays challenge was to do 20 jumping jacks. I was nervous about this. A couple of months ago I tried jumping rope and I was out of breath after about 5 jumps. I did 20 1 handed jumping jacks and I wasn't out of breath, and could have easily did a lot more. The other hand was holding the girls in place. I didn't want a black eye. LOL
I read this and thought I can't even remember the last time I did a jumping jack that wasn't in a pool, so I got up and tried and guess what I couldn't. That's really awful. But I figured out if I did a little jump to move my feet out and moved my arms to shoulder level, then I could do another little jump to bring my feet back while I moved my arms up and then do a two step reverse back to the starting position. Hey it's a start! Thanks @jdelaroy for mentioning it. So I guess that's my NSV for today, learning to do a jumping jack on dry land and I bet if I practice, eventually I can do a regular one! Where did you get your 45 day challenge?

I am starting to really like my butt again. Gone are the days of long shirts and sweaters.16

Had a customer buying 3 bags of Hershey's Kisses today. I said "God, those look good. You shouldn't have shown me those because now I want some!," to which she replied, "Yeah, but you're skinny, you can eat as much of those as you want and you don't have to worry." First time I think I've ever been referred to as skinny other than people that have seen me through my weight loss.
Little moments like this are just what I need to keep going when things get rough. If only I could eat as much chocolate as I wanted to!26 -

I can't wait to get to that level.6 -
There is a gap forming between my thighs, legs are looking toned and bending over isn't so daunting anymore. Also the gap between my double chin and boobs is increasing as I don't feel like i'm suffocating when I lie down.

When we find ourselves medically incarcerated for a long period of time, it's definitely the small things we miss the most. I no longer have the freedom to jump into the car and visit a friend, or the energy to wash dishes even if I were able.
It has occurred to me that my life is so different now, because the things that I really miss are these... Putting on my runners and heading to the gym, knowing it will be a long time before I can do another BodyPump class, or even being able to look at food without feeling like I will vomit.
I am so pumped full of fluid and drugs the scales are not even given a thought. My greatest NSV today was not a 600 calorie burn, nor being under my allowed calories for the day. I ate an apple. I kept it down. And it tasted great.
And I am thankful I have you guys to share that with. Happy Saturday everyone xx

I think this is a Nsv. I no longer think in terms of the scale.22

Get well soon Dee. It sounds like you are trying to make the best of your current circumstances. I hope you can get out and about sooner than you think. There are chair exercises on youtube. Maybe you can slowly build back your strength even while healing. Happy Saturday to you also.

Ran (jogged) for 20 minutes yesterday!
Tying shoes for kindergartners all day long with no problem.15 -
Our roof sprang a leak in heavy rain last night, so we have a ladder set up awkwardly in the stairs to the basement, allowing access to the trapdoor that leads to the attic. Going up and down the basement stairs (for example, to mop the leaks in the basement...) requires squeezing past the ladder. Actually, last time we had a leak (sigh), I had to squeeze past. Now I just scoot through with inches to spare. My pleasure in that weird NSV is slightly mitigating the pain of the need to recalculate the household budget!20

I noticed last night that my longer walk by the creek took 45 minutes. It used to take me an hour.22

I was walking/jogging downtown today when a very "friendly" young man yelled some comments from his car about how I would need to "move a lot faster than that if you dont want to be a fat *kitten* anymore".
2 months ago a comment like that would have brought tears, a quick departure home, and caused me to avoid going out in public to exercise again.
Today.. I smiled at him, and continued on my way. Theast couple months Ive started to grow way more comfortable in my own skin - way more vuable to me than numbers on the scale.
Those are the same dudes that criticize fat people for not going outside for a run.
I've had some messed up comments before.
Just ask yourself, what would make him feel the need to say that?
He probably feels bad that people are going after their goals and he isn't.20 -
I can do back bends, front splits, handstands. Working on my side split.
Running and jumping to get to a bar, swinging and jumping off, and sticking the landing. I did that today.
And I can button all the buttons on my coat with room to spare. I couldn't close it at one time.

When I go downstairs with my computer, I put the computer, the power cord and a few other things in the computer bag because I don't want to drop my computer down the stairs again. A few days ago I didn't even feel the weight of the bag and it didn't even pull on me.18

I went up the hill on my bike again today (sucker for punishment), absolutely DETERMINED to hit 45mph.
I failed. Miserably. Only 42.4mph. So disappointing. But there were mitigating circumstances, the first being a direct head wind. It was also very wet. Plus I was really tired by the time I got to the top and didn't pedal fast enough on the way down.
But I have a plan. Next time (that's an NSV in itself, making plans for next time) I am going to stop for a few minutes at the top, just to recover a bit from the long slow climb up the hill. That way I should have enough "ooomph" to cycle like a crazy thing back down the hill and get to a decent speed!
HOWEVER, I did achieve other things on my bike ride today - I knocked a good 20 minutes off my time for that particular bike ride (despite the horrible head wind) and my average speed was up (obviously, in the words of Severus Snape, being as my time was shorter). So not a total disappointment. And I got to have a really nice lunch on those calories at a hotel attached to a theme park we visit.

We went to a theme park this afternoon and it's on a really steep hill. Last year, I was huffing and puffing my way up the hill whilst my children (including my teenage daughter) were virtually running up it.
THIS year, my teenage daughter was huffing and puffing up the hill whilst I was walking up it like there wasn't a hill there, it had no detrimental affect on me at all. It was like we traded places and she was yelling at me to slow down - my daughter is 16yo, 5' 4" and weighs 119lbs; I'm still heavier than her by 30lbs but I exercise loads more than she does, walking and cycling. It was quite amusing to think that she was struggling whilst I was breezing up the hill.

And, on another subject entirely, another NSV is that my bra straps no longer slip down my shoulders. My mother always told me that I was unlucky and had rounded shoulders. Nope, just masses of fat. Now that the fat has gone from my shoulders and collarbone, my shoulders are not rounded and my bra straps stay up. RESULT! I was forever dragging them back up. Now I'm forever touching my shoulders and collarbone, just to "check". I can't be the only one who does that
Of course, the downside to having bones and not fat is that the metal parts of bras stick into you and hurt like anything - the hooks at the back stick into my spine (especially when sitting against anything) and the strap adjusters stick into my collarbone. I am so very glad that my chest has shrunk away to nothingness and I don't need underwired bras22 -

You will get there and I don't think 42.4 is failing miserably. it is only 2.6mph short. I think failing miserably would be 7mph or more from your goal.

Yeah, but I've been up and down that hill five times in the last week and my highest speed was 43.4mph, so I didn't even get to my previous best.
But I'm going to keep trying Nothing to lose (except a few more calories) and everything to gain6 -

We got family pictures back. These two shots are almost 11 months apart. Do I have a ton of work ahead of me? Of course. But it's pretty dang nice to take a minute and recognize that I'm a lot closer to my goal than I used to be.

I bought a pair of jeans from the size 20 rack when Target left Canada two years ago. When I got home I realized they were size 16, so I threw them in the closet. Started counting calories on Aug 2 and was up to size 22. Put said jeans on and couldn't get them over my thighs. Tried again September first and could get them on but not done up. October first, I could do them up if I was laying down and not breathing. Today I rocked the jeans at my son's cross country provincials.52

Went clothes shopping yesterday and bought size 14 jeans that look kinda awesome. Was pretty happy about that.24

New personal best 10 mile run...89 minutes 46 seconds!

This really is an awesome NSV because it comes from an attitude change within you! Feeling good in your own skin is truly amazing! Congratulations!12
