@Madwife2009 With your mind set, you've already got your goals made, and will be seeing them before you know it. I love a positive attitude in someone as I really believe that's 75% of the battle.
You got this, you really do.
Aw, that's so nice of you. Comments like these really help as well They are that little boost that you just don't get anywhere else . . .@Madwife2009 Best wishes for improved health! It sounds like your fan club is doing its job - kudos to your daughter for her positive vibes and kudos to you on recognizing your accomplishments! Enjoy the new gym!
Thank you, my children are amazing and the gym is great. All shiny and new. I was there at 7am for a very strange induction (I thought that we'd be at least shown how to use the machines but no, it was "here are the cardio, there are the functional, this is the studio" - very odd). Anyway, I then did an hour or so on the cardio machines (once I'd figured out how to use them) but bottled the weights as I am not totally sure what to do. I have to do some research and find some advice on where to start as I have to be a little bit careful, or so the physio says
Also went for a short walk and short cycle ride as I was really tired today, but I did something at least. Everything's logged, I'm within my calorie goal for today and not even considering reaching for the chocolate.11 -
When I started this journey on 2/21/16 it was in response to the agony of my daughter's heroin addiction and feeling trapped by the thought that while I wanted to eat something to make the pain go away....well, that was not the answer. On that day back then I set a few little benchmarks in my head. Numbers on the scale that seemed unattainable...wellll.. I reached the biggest one this weekend. Onward I go to the next! My NSV part of this is: while my daughter is still deep in addiction, I am emerging from the impact of that addiction....and she is alive and so am I .....in very good way I am alive.58

I just put all of my 3x pants in the dryer hoping to shrink them so I don't have to buy new pants yet. To think I used to cautiously wash all my clothes in the cold gentle cycle and line dry to avoid buying 4x.20

The gym has an obligation to show you how to work the machines! But as they seem to be a bit lax .. check out bodyuilding.com they have great little vids on how to use most machines and free weights. Enjoy1 -

what an amazing and positive way to approach what can only be described every parent's worst nightmare. I wish you well and hope your daughter will one day see what you have done and realise she can be as strong as you!2 -

That is so powerful. Your daughter will see the example you're setting, one day. Thanks for sharing that.0 -

Hugs from across the land of the Internet! There are so many horrible things that go along with your situation and you are amazing (and yes, special) to have this kind of positive outlook! I wish you and your family all the best and what is right!
PS: My brother recovered from heroin, not without some long term problems but 6 years clean this past fall. It is possible but as I'm sure you know, only she can make that choice.

I was able to execute 12 solid P/U's this AM. It took three sets of four each and I also did 15 minutes on the elliptical machine. Not to shabby considering all the crap my body is recovering from.
Thank you.
It's just a wee bit upsetting, six months ago I was doing 30 minutes along with a hardcore work out. Baby steps, right. ;-)3 -
Today I got to the airport about four hours early for my flight, so I decided to walk a complete circuit of the terminal, with my 30lb carryon on my back.
Even though it's only Pittsburgh, by the time I finished hall D, I was exhausted and my knees were really complaining. But the thing is, 30 lbs is about half of what I've lost. Six months ago, I was carrying this much mass around 24/7, and it didn't seem like a thing. But no wonder I got out of breath going up a flight of stairs, much less trying to run!
So my victory is just a recognition of gow much better shape I'm in.40 -
sore from a really hard workout last night and went for a walk today to loosen up and still took the stairs even with my legs burning13

Two surprises today:
Wearing a TINY pair of undies I bought years ago because I thought they were cute. They still look so small to me; I can't believe I'm wearing them.
Also wearing a sweater that this time last year I literally couldn't get my arms into, let alone over my belly. The sleeves are actually long now and it's really pretty loose everywhere.
Can't believe it!

I ran a half marathon and met my goal of finishing under two hours...just barely though!
1 hour 59 minutes 27 seconds.
15 out of 79 in my age division (aka middle age)
79 out of 593 women
184 out of 933 total runners
A year ago I could barely run a mile without stopping!

I made myself get off my butt during lunch and take a walk. The distance I covered would previously have taken at least 10 minutes more.18

I am in tears. I have seen many friends through addiction and family as well, but I cannot imagine the special pain of walking with my child through such an ordeal. You are a titan, my dear, to turn something so painful into a motivation for strength and betterment, both for yourself, and as an example to your dear daughter. You are both in my prayers. Your last line "she is alive and so am I" is so powerful and words we all should live by. Life is precious and every day is an opportunity to do better and to enjoy what we have. Blessings to you.24 -
Prior to joining MFP three weeks ago, I was only able to fasten two buttons on my favorite pair of slim fitting jeans. I tried them on for the first time in about a month last night and I was able to button them all the way to the top. Granted, they weren't as comfortable as they used to be, but hey...progress!34

Skipping eating at a potluck while looking forward to working out with my teenage son. We both felt tired and sore, but good about our choices.18

Looking good!0

Last Friday I wrapped a towel around my waist and realized that I didn't have to hold onto it to keep it in place. I can't remember when the last time was that I could do that, but it's been decades.20

um... yeah... At one point, I had to carefully wash and dry my 4x pants... and yes, now - we pray for shrinkage. Whoot!9 -
And I figured out why my pants are too big. I have saddlebags and a spare tire now. How is that a NSV you ask? Because they are separate and distinguishable instead of just one big slab of fat from waist to knee. I'm super tempted to start topics asking about spot reduction because I can!29

Thank you, and yes, life is precious and rarely does life take us where we expect to go....so we best be prepared for accepting, and forgiving, and loving and seeing what really matters. Every day! not just when life takes you where you want....... thank for the kind words.11 -
hubby came back home after a week. He saw me and goes where did your tummy go? I was elated..21

Having a disagreement with hubby and not turning to food and went to the gym to work out some frustration21

Thought my HeartRate Monitor strap had stretched out.....turns out I shrunk and just had to adjust it smaller!10

Today marked my 100th consecutive day to login to MFP.
In those 100 days the monthly average of the health stats I now record into an Excel spreadsheet each morning have improved thusly:
Systolic Blood Pressure - Down 10.4 mm Hg
Diastolic Blood Pressure - Down 10.1 mm Hg
Pulse - Down 3.7 BPM
Fasting Blood Glucose Level - Down 7.9 mg/dl
Blood Oxygen Level - Up .6 Points
Along with the hard data my sense of well being, confidence and energy level have all improved greatly.
It's a wondrous world and we get to live in it. ENJOY

Bought a pair of new sweat pants to wear around house 16's. Started in 20-22 pant size in May 2016.
Also made it through something called 12 days of fitness in chisel class yesterday 1st day of christmas was a 30 second plank which we did 12 times. Went fast as with all the quick transitions there was no time to watch the clock.
Had a day of feeling fat this past weekend but determined to push past this. About half way to goal and feeling stuck but not giving up.20 -
I did 5 sets of P/U's today, 5x5x4x3x4 for a total of 21 and almost hit 6 both of the first two sets. I also did 2.24 miles on the elliptical in 20 minutes. Considering what I'm recovering from I'm stoked about it.13
