I was laying on the couch watching a TV show and my cat crawled up on my hip like she normally does. She decided my hip is now too bony and not comfortable anymore so she moved!19

Scale has been yoyoing for days so I decided to bite the bullet and bust out the measuring tape. Low and behold! 1/4 inch off my hips and 3/4 off my waist!21

TMI NSFW NSV: (You've been warned) I got on top tonight for the first time in nearly 2 years. Goodbye, dead bedroom! This wifey is taking the reigns.60

I flexed my abs and saw four muscles pop. My 23 year old daughter looks and says "They look like a chocolate bar! Like perfect little squares on a chocolate bar!" Lol!33

1.Using the dryer while doing laundry to purposely shrink my clothes.
2. Exchanging new work out clothes before I wore them to the next smaller size because the size I'm used to buying doesn't fit anymore.
3. Looking in the mirror and seeing my true self beginning to shine through.
4. Craving to go to the gym or take a walk and missing it on days that I can't fit it into my schedule.
5. The realization that my progress is a direct indication of how consistent I am in putting my commitment to become healthy again into action.
6. Understanding that my weight loss journey is solely mine and will vary from the experience of others. Comparing it to the experiences of others is not an accurate guage of my efforts, commitment, or success.
So much of this is beautifully said. Congratulations.10 -
i just touched my left heel to my bum. this might not sound like a lot, but i have the. world's. most insanely tight quads, and it's about the least convenient part of your body to stretch effectively. i got all inspired when mr. massage-school student freed up my s.i., so i started working on them about five days ago.
it's actually so different i feel like i'm walking a little wonky, but i'm pretty excited by this.19 -

I work in a restaurant and every day that I don't eat the garbage food at my job is a NSV.21 -

This thread is so inspiring -- sharing our accomplishments makes such a difference for me. Thank you, everyone.
The last week has been tough. I've been dealing with something that is pretty difficult for me, even shocking. And I have noticed a feeling like being driven to eat -- a feeling I haven't had in over a year and now realize that it was something I experienced constantly before committing to my weight loss. And I have eaten for about 4-5 days. I continued to exercise and participate in my PT sessions, but I stopped logging and sticking to my food plans. I feel terrible. What's so different for me is that I can see what I am doing. And, last night I just said, "Enough" and threw out all the trigger things that I've been eating (and don't even like any more -- but it's not about "liking" in these situations anyway).
Today I don't necessarily feel victorious about much, but I do realize I am stopping something that could get out of hand. I am dealing with something I never dealt with before, something I never even realized was a thing to even deal with. Maybe with a few days of me being in control and sticking to my plans I'll feel a little better in this area of life at least. It's funny, isn't it, how we talk about "just logging" but, I guess, for some of us -- or me, at least -- it is so much more than that. Have a good day / coming week everyone!35 -
I've been battling up and down that same 5lbs for about 3 m vonths now. I could get serious and really put myself into a deficit but my goal is to change as much fat into muscle as possible. I realized that my weight belt is down 2 notches my pants belt is a notch and just a measurement around my stomach is down 2 inches in those 3 months and the same basic weight. It may not seem like much but it does show me that my plan is working.21

I had two COSTCO NSV yesterday.
- skipped the Polish Dog with extras. Though not the worst thing, I always get it in the past, 500+ calories.
- I picked up a fitbit. I have been losing from just diet thus far, so monitoring/increasing my activity will really help. Like everyone else, I'm sure I'll get competitive about hitting my daily step targets20 -
Being able to wear what I want from my closet rather than what fits! Before I started this journey, I had refused to buy any clothes in a larger size so I had to be selective about my clothes - most were the same size but some fit much better than others.
Now, I can wear what I want and, with another 5 lbs or so, I will be able to start closet-shopping for some of the clothes that I had grown out of .

Ran a five mile race on my birthday in 20 degree weather. My fastest pace of any race to date.30

I have really been struggling with calories lately. Like, a lot. BUT I have been logging everything. And I have stuck with my goal of getting at least 5K steps or working out every day for the past 10 days with only one exception (ate too much and was too queasy to work out). I still feel like I'm back on track finally. And even though I have this mental struggle with calories I still fit my cute L clothes... no going back to XL! I haven't actually gained as far as I can tell.32

Went to the gym with my father, brother and nephew today, (theirs) - Guess who was the last one standing?
My dad called me over after 45 minutes that my brother and nephew wanted to leave. Told them that I was not doing less than an hour and that I'd walk to my parents place. Dad continued on a while longer but found him waiting for me when I was finished.
Still it was a good workout and I enjoyed having some time with these men. I think I scored some awesome aunt points with my nephew (15)29 -

That's great. My struggle is to still log even if I'm wildly over. You just had an idea exercise in maintenance!8 -
My 13 year old son made my day earlier - I was doing something (no idea what, it's irrelevant anyway) when he suddenly said that he was really impressed with my arm and shoulder muscles and that my strength training at the gym was clearly working wonders. He couldn't believe the difference after just 10 weeks' effort.
I don't think he's going to be getting into an arm wrestling bout with me anytime soon though27 -
Went to Tae kwondo this evening, been going for 3 months or so, have to do fitness for first half. Tonight was my least favourite, jogging round the hall forwards and backwards. For the first time ever though, i did the whole session without having to break into a walk once!! At the end of class the instructor told me off for not telling him i wanted to do my grading - i guess that means i am going to to do my grading in a couple of weeks then!16

Went to the track and climbed the stadium stairs and ran...well jogged. And it was only 30 degrees out! I guess my NSV is that I did it.
I actually started this thread several years ago...so glad it's still going! Unfortunately, life's stressful situations got in the way and I completely fell off the bandwagon and I've gained back most, if not all, of my weight back. I'm a little better off than first time around in that I do occasionally work out and I don't eat much refined food...which probably means it will be that much harder to take off this time as my change won't be quite as big but I'm ready to have another go at it.
It's going to take a long time to read through all these but I'm so proud of everyone that has done such awesome things! Keep it going!60 -
@tjsoccermom - Welcome back! And thanks for starting it! It's one of my favorites!9

One full day with my new FitBit HR. Very interesting to see my sleep cycle and how little I move when at home - less than 1,000 steps until I went for a good walk. My NSV is tracking my activity daily from here on.23

This has been my struggle lately! Still counting calories but it's driving me crazy I can't seem to limit myself. But this week is a new week!10 -
I made a felt 1000 muffins yesterday afternoon (it's my Mom's birthday tomorrow and the dessert she chose is muffins and fruit salad). So after completing batches of chocolate-vanilla, almond-matcha, orange-lemon and apple-pear muffins, cleaning up the kitchen, cooking supper, cleaning up the kitchen again, cleaning up myself (I'm a messy baker), checking the time and collapsing in bed, I realized this morning that I haven't eaten a single of one of them. Not even a taste beyond the 4 licks of batter (one for each batch) to make sure it had the correct consistency and taste.
In the past, regardless of any circumstances, I would have had at least 3 per batch (quality control you know...), then I would have rationalized that there's enough, so I might as well have another 2-3 (per batch) as breakfast.
Still. Not a single muffin eaten...
(PS: that's over 120 muffins sitting in my kitchen...)40 -

@tjsoccermom Thank you so much for creating this thread in the first place (no matter how many years ago it was!). It's so amazing reading the small and big ways others are succeeding (and slowly being able to add my own successes to the list).
We'll be around to help you celebrate your success this time around16 -

Same here, but I've logged EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past ~120 days and overeating isn't going to stop me! Last week my average was over 3000 calories a day. But this week IS a new week just like you said, and yesterday I was under calories! Aiming to repeat that today.19 -
