25% body fat , which apparently means 'average' and I'm 1-2% away from 'ideal' range !! So happy!25

My son and I just completed Day 1, Week 8 of C25K! The first five minutes were hard but after that, it was a reasonably comfortable run plod.
But. We. Made. It. To Week 8!
A 28-minute run. 28 minutes!
(You may be able to tell that I'm quite excited about this).
We're already planning how we're going to actually run the 5K itself as our 28-minute plod today worked out at just about 3.2km (2 miles), so we're a bit short of the distance. At that speed, I think it'll take 45 minutes to run plod the distance. I think that I could have kept going for another 15 minutes or so.
Bring it on, I say!33 -
You all inspired me to take my measurements again.
Since July 5, 2016:- Waist: lost 10.8 inches
- Hips: lost 9.5 inches
- Neck: lost 2.5 inches
- Wrist: lost .5 inches
- Belly button waist: lost 5 inches
- Largest part of thigh: lost 2 inches
- Ribcage (bra waist): lost 3.75 inches
I wish MFP had more options than just the first three, but eventually I started recording them myself. Weirdly, I am most excited about losing inches on my neck and wrists, because those seem like places where you wouldn't have a lot of fat. Just shows how it's coming off from everywhere.
Aside: it is hard to measure yourself when you are so squishy!! I had to develop a system for my waist, hips, and thighs because measurements can vary sooo much depending on how tightly you pull, lol.23 -

My best for a timed 5K is ~36 mins. See if there is a ParkRun in your area. Free and you are given timed results. I've come in dead last for men in every one I've done, but still doing them. Found out my neighbours do them pretty much every week. I do want to break 30 mins though.12 -
Love the running stories! My personal best 5k is 29:32. That was 20 years ago. I'm training to beat that this year. I have until October, and I'm at 31-ish minutes now, so I'm feeling optimistic.15

You can add the others. On the website, click on the "Check-In" tab at the top of the home page, then at the bottom of the measurement list, click on "Track Additional Measurements". You can add as many as you like, I added all of my measurement areas!15 -
I just discovered that Planet Fitness keeps track of how many days you've come into the gym. I first joined 333 days ago and have shown up there 273 times during that time. Since that was my first time in the gym ever, I wondered if I would actually carry through and show up. I think I did pretty well! (And I'm pretty sure at $10/month they aint making any money off of me)30

You are an inspiration! I ran my first ever 5k last fall after completing C25K. I was dead last in my age category at 39:30. So yes, mine was a plod too. I'm planning on doing the same race this fall and have just started C25K again (because I didn't do any running over the winter/spring). My goal is to better my time from last year.
p.s. I'm planning a trip to the U.K next summer. Number one item on my list? Rain gear lol

Thanks for the reminder about ParkRuns. There is indeed one locally - I'd already looked into it and I was planning to have a go once I'd completed the C25K program and could actually run 5K. Maybe in a couple of weeks' time (now, that's a scary thought)ridiculous59 wrote: »

Inspiration? No, I don't think so. Just willing to have a go at things I fully expect my first full 5K to be slower than slow but at least I'll be doing it.
As for the rain gear, that's understandable; the weather has been atrocious this year so far. Today I had to battle more 20mph winds on the bike and could only manage 14 miles before giving up. I'll probably go out again later when I've mustered up the courage to face the "breeze"11 -
What the heck does NSV stand for?-1

You are all inspiring! I've loved reading this thread, thanks for starting it @tjsoccermom!
My recent NSV was 5 strict weighted pull ups12 -
This has been a week of NSV for me, from being able to finally run a decent distance and enjoy it (instead of wanting to die the whole time), to starting to see my muscles on my thighs, shoulders and abs take shape. Even if it feels excruciatingly slow, it feels like my body is starting to change. And that's better than any number on the scales.15

Non Scale Victory (took me a while to find out too ). Any bit of progress other than what the scales show, from improved fitness, to lower clothes sizes, compliments....there are some very bizarre ones too, but anything that shows ourselves we are getting towards whatever goals we have set has to be a good thing, right?4 -
1 - workout clothes are all getting very loose.
2 - friends are starting to comment
3 - bought a bikini29 -
I've finally reached the point where I am fit enough to do some of the activities I've been putting off. Today I went to my first tennis lesson. It was a lot of fun and pretty active. I'm really looking forward to the next one.

I forgot my most important NSV!
At 172lbs I went to my salon to get a VERY short pixie-style faux-hawk knowing it only looks good *on me* when I'm slim and told her "Because I will be slim enough to look good in this style very soon" (it was a good way to fully commit to losing weight, too.
To maintain my cut, I have to see her every 5 weeks and each time I go in she's like "Everytime I see you, it's like meeting you for the first time".
Plus, my pixie perfectly suits my much-slimmer face now!28 -
I finally broke down and went summer clothes shopping. I have put it off because I hate trying on clothes and crowds of people. I do a lot of online shopping but I had no idea what size I should get and the size charts are never right when you go by them.
Over the last year, I have lost a considerable amount of weight, 79 lbs, but when I look at myself I find it hard to see how much smaller I am.
I have gone from a tight size 18 short/capri to a size 10 perfect fit! And a XXL shirt size to a Medium!
I was going through my clothes and thought, oh my tankini should fit still and this bikini bottom that was too small for the last few years, but that's a big NOPE. I couldn't even keep the bottoms up they are so loose, LOL. And apparently the "girls" got smaller than I thought! Hehe. I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new swimsuit soon.25 -
@oceandaisies I can relate so much with not being aware how much smaller I am. The other day I thought I won't get in the car cause someone had parked too close, but I did easily! I can't wait when the mind will catch up with the body12

Here is an obscure NSV. I do my own oil change and tire rotation on my cars. All my life I didn't need no stinking torque wrench to torque lug nuts to 70 ft-lb, I just held the lug wrench firmly and leaned down a bit and I could easily put over 100 ft-lb of torque on it with only my body weight. I've lost close to 100 lb in the past year and today the car receiving the treatment was my least-used vehicle. I bought it for a daughter and since she came home from school she's rarely used it. I've taken to using it once each week just to keep the seals lubricated. Removing lug nuts was always easy, too. I'd just position the wrench on the lefty-loosey side and step on it. My body weight torqued it on, and my body weight torqued it off, always easy as pie. About that ~100 lb loss ... when attempting to remove lug nuts today, I found I could step up and balance myself on the wrench, and it wouldn't move. I had to jump up and down on it to get it loose.42

our cycle club has their overnight ride this weekend. Wasn't able to go both days but since my husband was willing to pick me up I was able to ride today. So get signed up and take off from the trailhead for a looped trail and about 1.5 miles down the road realize I went on the north loop instead of the south loop so head back so basically spot myself 3 miles. It was hot and very windy. Had a side wind most of the ride so strong at one point I was taking my half in the middle to avoid being blown off the trail. Lots of debris on the trail from the wind. Chain came off at one point and had just managed to get it back on when someone stopped and offered to help. Sometimes this can be a two man project on my recumbent bike. Battle through several miles on the older part of the trail where it is very bumping and you feel it in all your joints especially the knees. Arrived at the destination about 2.5 miles short of my longest ride so ride to the quilt shop and then to the pool and then just around to get the last bit in so I had 57 miles on the day. Am tired tonight as expected but not feeling so horrible that I can't function.
