That's awesome! Make sure to keep monitoring your BP as you've stopped the medications abprtuly and inform your HCP(health care provider) as soon as you can. Some BP medications can lead to rebound hypertension (occurs when you've suddenly stopped taking the medications). I'm glad you're feeling better and that you don't need to rely on medications anymore ☺️ Huge win for sure!
thanks! Yep, I will monitor closely and let my Dr know. I see her in a month for 6 month blood work and check.4 -
I've been cleaning out my closet to prepare for moving next month. I've filled an entire trash bag with things that are too big now that were snug or too small when I bought them. It does make me kind of sad though because I've really loved all of the clothes I've bought since I started losing weight and almost all of it was thrifted so it's not like I can just go buy a smaller size. I am keeping a few of my favorite pieces to get altered once I'm at my goal weight though12

@InspectorRed Is that a Chief's hat I see?0

I work at an elementary school, so there is ALWAYS food around, and yesterday was no exception. When offered a scrumptious cookie first thing in the morning, I took it, but saved it until after lunch and logged it and was within my calories for the day. Yay!16

Yesterday sucked so much you guys. I stopped at the grocery store and stood staring at the cakes for like, 10 solid minutes. Nobody would have blamed me. Everyone goes off the rails every now and then. Just once wouldn't hurt...
I didn't do it. I bought a box of Halloween candy, had 2 mini Aeros, and then completed the 500 Squat Challenge again.
A funny thing happened around the 250 squat mark. For the first time in my life, I experienced a 'second wind' firsthand. My fitness level has never been good enough for that, everything always hurt so much. But at 250 squats suddenly I was breathing easier and in less pain.
Surreal. Lol.32 -
Last week I returned home from a 90 day camping trip across Canada and back (a celebration of my retirement). One of my biggest concerns was maintaining my current weight and fitness level after losing 90 pounds. I took a yoga mat and resistance bands, planned to run, watch my alcohol, and would log my food.
Well, the food thing wasn't perfect. We visited lots of farmers markets, but we were also on a quest to find the best cinnamon bun in Canada (a little bakery in Alma, New Brunswick won). The alcohol thing wasn't great because who knew the Maritimes produced so much amazing cider? But I diligently worked out using the bands, practiced yoga, and ran at least once in 9 provinces. I logged. Even the bad days. And we walked. And walked. And walked.
I finally just stepped on the scale today and discovered I gained 2 pounds. Two pounds!!!!! That's all. After 20,000 kms of mostly sitting on my butt in the passenger seat, I am happy. Much, much more than happy 😁😁45 -

Excellent maintenance! Two pounds is a normal fluctuation for a lot of folks!

Good enough for me35 -
After almost 18 pounds, I finally dare wearing fitted clothes, not my usual baggy clothes, and a collegue noticed that ! She congratulated me22

For those of us with 100+ pounds to lose, I think we often don't see any visible changes for quite awhile, which can be disheartening. So, I'm extra glad to have more NSV's to share today to reaffirm to myself that I'm doing well
1. Ankles/feet continuing to emerge from the ham hocks for short periods of time. It's like my own personal Loch Ness monster watch
2. Today I discovered that two pairs of trousers that I outgrew last year now fit comfortably again. This one is the major win for me, because I tend to minimize my successes by thinking of how I'm misconstruing how it happened. For example, as my clothes have gotten a bit looser, the naysayer part of my brain suggests oh, the fabric just stretched out more from normal wear & tear. Well, that's definitely not the case with the trousers in question because they've been holidaying in the back of my closet!
Best wishes to all, keep on keepin' on with these great achievements I'm reading about!38 -

I do this too, haha.4 -
This one's kind of weird, but today I didn't go for a walk. I stopped walking for about a month when depression made it too hard to, and when I started up again I overdid it and my knee's been hurting in a "maybe I shouldn't do too much walking on it" way. Today, I wanted to go for a walk, but my knee still hurts, and I think it needs another day to heal up... so I didn't go.21

I'll be 43 soon and went to the doctor for midlife checkup with a ton of tests and labs and extra stuff. My results were "awesome, every bit of it. You must be doing something right."
Made me feel so justified in all of my healthy eating and exercising and maintaining major weight loss. I don't wish ill to any of my friends and am proud of those who make healthy choices too, but I know several people recently whose drinking and poor diets and overall health habits have caused some problems for them and I had my fingers crossed that I wouldn't see any big surprises just due to getting older.25 -
I got outside and did a run/walk for the first time in a year!27

Started doing couch25k in December last year on the treadmill at home. Never run for more than 30 mins slowly.
However, Parkrun came to the town where I live. I gave it a go and now I've completed 3 park runs and got faster each week. Woo hoo. I am quite enjoying it though I'm really not a runner and it's still hard work. But getting me fitter!25 -
For the first time in 11 years, my driver's license weight is true. 54lbs lost.47

I got another "I didn't recognize you because you've lost so much weight" comment.19

Starting Weight Feb 2019: 184lbs
Current Weight: 139lbs
I was a size UK 14-16 in February this year. I bought a pair of UK10 jeans recently, thinking “There’s no way these will fit me but I like them so I’ll put them away until I can fit into them” BUT...they fit perfectly. I can’t believe I’m back in a size 10. I don’t know why it is but I still see myself as bigger than what I truly am. Everyone else can see it but I can’t. I really hope that changes 😞21 -

My engagement ring came off my finger. I didn’t feel it. Thankfully I heard the ping when it hit the tile. Both my engagement and wedding rings are safely in a box in my nightstand. I’ll get them resized when I hit my goal.22

Squeaked into a healthy BMI and liked the way I looked in a full body photo. Also, I weigh less than my husband now.31

Yesterday, as part my exercise day I walked 11 laps on the walk/jog track at fitness center I go to. Signs posted there say 11.25 laps equals 1 mile! I cannot remember the last time I comfortably did or was EVEN ABLE to do that! And it was just the start of what was 80 minutes worth. The rest was downstairs in pool.25

Went thrifting yesterday. Picked up a sweater that I liked but had no size because it had gotten taken off by the previous own. Thought "well, it looks like it might be a bit tight, but I'll try it on just to make sure."
It was too loose. Bought it as a bum around sweater 'cause it was cute.19 -
Completed a half marathon yesterday in 1:52:26 which was over 5 min under my goal time. This was my thrid completed. 1st 2006 ~2:15, 2nd 2014 ~2:03 and this year 2109 at 1:52:26. I have had 2 kids in that time and am clearly faster now than I have been in a while. Feeling great25

We have a Chevy Malibu. I always hated driving it because it was difficult to get in and out of. I had noticed it was easier to drive(still like my van better) but the big thing was we went to pick up my mother in law to go shopping I decided to try and ride in the back so she would be more comfortable. I hadn't ever been able to buckle the seatbelt in the back until yesterday. It felt amazing25

We went to a MLB game this weekend. We had to walk from the hotel to the shuttle station and it was up and down a steep hill. I was the only one not complaining about the burn! We had some 20 year olds with us that couldn't keep up. I was pretty stoked at my own 40+ self not being out of breath. I even walked around the entire stadium twice- just for kicks and giggles. Yay me!26

Yesterday while at church, I laid my open Bible on my lap. Usually I have to hang onto it to keep it from slipping off my lap because my stomach takes up so much lap room. But this time, my Bible had just enough room without me needing to keep it in place. A small victory, but I look for them wherever I can find them!42

I had an eight level thoracic fusion surgery in May and am still recovering 4 months later. Probably another 3 to 6 months before I am fully healed and released from doctor's care. My recent non-scale victories include being able to ride my bicycle again, doing PT and hitting the gym for swimming, biking, and doing my "home exercise program" there. I have also worked on creating a pain management protocol. With this kind of surgery and the pain and inflammation that comes with it, it can be very easy to end up on heavy duty pain medication. Instead, I start with ice, heat, exercise, a back brace to protect my lower back during housework, laundry, and working in the kitchen, natural remedies like turmeric, anti-inflammatory diet, and rosehip tea to lower pain and inflammation, Arthritis strength Tylenol, and a very low dose of gabapentin. So far, this is working pretty well and I have been able to avoid narcotic drugs, their side effects, and the risk of addiction. I am down 15 pounds from my pre-surgery weight, which is a nice bonus.24
