Nice Job..just curious whats the average miles per hour on one of those things (I don't use them). I wear a heart rate monitor for all my cardio so I do whatever it takes to stay between 134-144 (72-77%)..for me to do that on a bike hurts like hell (in the legs) to do it running is rather easy. I wonder where an eliptical falls.
It varies depending on the program and difficulty you set. I use a hill program which increases the difficulty over an 8 minute period and then drops it back (only to build again) at a level 13 (1 being the easiest and 20 being the hardest). The machine tells me I am "running" a bit over 9 mile/hour. Heart rate runs from 145 to around 170. Bottom line is a good workout and I have to push harder start to finish than I do running with Kip the Wonder Dog on weekends.

Thanks for the answer those are some quality miles!

I'm trying to increase my "aerobic threshold" at lower a heart rate..so I don't let myself drift (sometime I want to as mile markers are tough to leave at .9 lol). I have seen real improvement as I've gone up 4 mph on the bike at the same level of excersion I increased the bike from levels 12,14, then 16 (thats the max on this bike) every three weeks on the same course (the course 1). Level 16 was hell the first ride (3x30 minute invervals during the packer game)..but to my amazement last night it wasn't bad. Hind site I think level 12 sucked 7 weeks ago..now thats cake.

I previewed "Course 2" as I'm moving down to level 12 and repeating again..it will be a challenge again.

As for my running well I'm just hoping to break 60 minute in my 10K

Thanks, Not bad for a morbidly obese guy. I wish it would have been more hiking but I'll take it any way I can get it.

    Great job all!
