The SWaT Walking Group November Walk is starting! Yay! Congratulations to everyone that walked with us in October and made it through the Halloween candy temptations. Still candy corn free here. Now just to make it through the candy clearance sales. It was a great month and I hope November goes as well for everyone.
The SwaT Walking Team originally stood for Sansone Walking Team (after the Walk Away the Pounds founder) and we just liked the name so it stuck.
For those of you that aren't familiar with Walk Away the Pounds they are walking workouts by Leslie Sansone. They are easy to do for someone who is uncoordinated (like me) or older (also like me) or that just can't handle the more strenuous workouts for whatever reason. They can be done in your living room right in front of your TV or computer. They are easy to find at Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, online and lots of other sources. They can be rented from Netflix and downloaded from the Internet.
The Walk Away the Pounds is "my" walking choice. The group is open to anyone that wants to do any form of walking. Indoors, outdoors, it's up to you. And if you want to mix in some other stuff that’s okay too. I need to do a little strength training here and there myself.
This is a great group of walkers so if you would like to join us just jump (or walk) right in. You set your own goal as we are all at different levels and all have our own schedules and other interests. Just check in whenever you would like, daily, weekly, whatever works for you. This walk will end on November 30th and get us past the Thanksgiving holiday. If everyone wants to keep going we will do a December walk too.
I am going to set my goal for November 30th at 60 miles. I should be able to manage that even with the holiday.

I would love to join! How? I mean is there a link or do you add me to a list? I'm stalled at a 30 lb loss and need to shake these things up:)

Blank, You don't need to do anything special. Just figure out what you want your goal to be and post it here. Then just check in when you can.
Welcome to the group!0 -

125 miles is AWESOME Amarillo. Come walk with us or drop in for a visit now and then. We could use a some male input around here.
Love your little walking guy!0 -
Okay Sandy,
I'm setting my goal for 50 miles by November 30th. I think it's do-able. I'm also doing Leslie's 21 days to Thanksgiving challenge on Facebook. That should help! Thanks for starting this again. You're a natural leader!!!! LOL
Good luck everyone!

Good morning Everyone! Im in again. Im setting my goal at 50 miles this month.
Looking forward to the Leslie Sansone Challenge on Facebook. Still not sure how it all works yet. I just know, Day 1 is 3 miles, Day 2 is 1 mile working on the upper body, Day 3 is 3 miles again.
GOOD LUCK! :flowerforyou:

Sandy - I asked Amarillo about his little walking guy on another post. Its cute isn't it?0 -

Had a great first day on the challenge. I did 2 miles with my Leslie Sansone tape. Then put on the pedometer and got the grass cut and yard cleaned, another 2 miles plus alittle.0

 Glad to see everyone coming back for the November walk and happy to see some new faces.
Way to kick off your month Marie. I didn't do so well, had to work late again tonight. Hopefully back to walking tomorrow.
. . . and I still haven't fixed my ticker!0 -

Happy November!
I'm keeping my ticker through this month (and then I'll change to a Christmas one but keep the mileage!) I'm just noting in my signature where I have started and then will see how far I go.
I am also doing the 21 Days Before Thanksgiving Challenge and also finishing the Slim Down in 8 Weeks Challenge on everydayhealth.com (I have 4 weeks to go). I have a lot of time right now since I am not working, I have no little ones around and, except for my grandson--who KICKS every time Leslie says to!--I live with adults. I am working on my jewelry and trying new, healthy recipes and foods.
For those of you doing the Facebook challenge--be sure to click on the link to the left for Leslie's blog. She is putting little mini-workouts on her blog every week (this week see Day 1). They are mostly for the firming part of the challenge. She also has a workout routine for the firming part posted (this week on Day 2's blog).
Time to get moving! See you all later!0 -
Good morning everyone!!! I totally failed getting all my miles for October....thanks to the insane amount of sewing I had to do to get all of our Halloween costumes done. But, it is a new month and I have started off well today :) So, my new goal for November is 100 miles. I have confidence that I can do it ....that all of us can do whatever we set out to do!!0
-
Well, I got my one mile in for the Thanksgiving Challenge, then found the arm exercises on facebook. There sure are alot of things to look at and blog updates all the time. Not sure if I like it or not. Like I really need to be sucked into another site. I feel guilty with how much Im on here all the time. I also did a mile on my treadmill with an incline and took my dog for a walk after supper for another mile. Three miles total today. Yea...me!
Have a great night guys!0 -
Hi Everybody! I did manage to get in 2 miles today. Was feeling really blah today but couldn't stand seeing my ticker at zero so I made myself do something! I always do feel better after I've exercised so I'm glad I did it.
Marie, I kind of agree with you about logging in to so many different places. I don't know how people with small kids manage to find time to exercise too. It's hard enough for me and no small kids.
Keep on walking everybody! :flowerforyou:0 -
did two miles today and two yesterday - so far so good. STILL do not have my ticker done. I procrastinate a lot.0
-
Sandy and Marie--Actually, I agree with you both about so many websites. To be honest, if I were working I would NOT be doing the challenge! Usually I only log into my facebook page once a week to keep in touch with family.
I took Isaac for a walk to the ballot collection box. He was fascinated by everything! We forget what it's like to be seeing things for the very first time, don't we? The box is located at a retirement facility so I went in to find out exactly where it was. Some of the residents were in the sitting area so naturally we had to visit so they could see the baby. I had to promise to come back before I left--they were so thrilled with him! It was a good walk and the weather was absolutely beautiful!
I have no idea how far we walked because I took a around about way through a really pretty neighborhood instead of taking the more direct route. I'll have to visit mapmywalk.com later to figure it out!
Have a great evening!0 -
Hello,
Well I figure since I walked 55 miles for the October walk I can do a 60 mile challange too. I should be able to meet that goal. I walk on my lunch break and come home and do Leslie Sanson - I have been doing the 2 mile walk away the pounds with the belt. I am loving it. Glad I dusted them off. Ha.
Thanks for the inspirations.
Question: How do I get a walking ticker too?0 -
Hey Panda, Go to www.tickerfactory.com design your ticker and save it. Then you have to copy and paste the code into your mfp signature. (use the code that says for bbCode, the first one) The signature link can be found at the top of this page.0

I came across this article this morning, I decided I had to share with you guys. Some good ideas to add to our walking routine. But really, I can't picture myself doing them in the street in front of my neighbors house or in the mall.

Maybe if I wasn't the only one doing them? The problem is--I still haven't found a walking partner for outside walks.
I am going to our neighborhood community's annual meeting next week and plan to bring up the topic of starting a walking group.0 -
I'm in again for November, but have been slacking! Haven't walked a step since Sunday :noway:. Back on today and will be walking 3 miles later this afternoon as long as I'm able to head down to the workout room over lunch.0
-
Well, glad to see everyone is upbeat and ready to walk! I'm trying Leslie's 21 day challenge. I've done 7 miles so far. Yay me! I'm feeling it in my legs and arms....but that's a good thing, right? I hope to see a difference by Thanksgiving. I want to wear those size 14 jeans and not have a muffin top. LOL Fingers crossed...it'll happen!!!

Ok so far I have done 2 miles each day, for a total of 6 so far this month. I redid my ticker hopefully it works this time.0
-
Hello,
Walked 1.2 miles at lunch today and then did 2 miles with Leslie Sansone on teh Walk Away the pounds the abs one.
Not sure if I will get to talk tomorrow at all it's going to be cold and possible snow flurries, then after work have a work function.
I have 9 miles in already for the week, off to a good start..

Thanks for the Ticker Info.
I have it now too!0 -
Everybody is doing great. I'm falling a little behind, gonna hafta get myself in gear and get walking. It's only Wednesday and it's already been a long week. The first week of the month is always the roughest at work. I'll get back in the groove soon.0

Hello, Everyone.
Wednesday check-in...
Today, I was feeling bloated and blah, just wanted to get home from work and veg. Wednesdays are my weigh-in days, and even though I didn't feel like it, I went ahead and did it. To my surprise, I had lost 3.8 lbs. I couldn't believe it! I reviewed my food and exercise logs and realized that I had done a Walk Away the Pounds tape EVERY DAY last week (honestly, it was to make sure I made my October goal, but hey, it was the first time I've walked seven consecutive days!). It obviously made a difference, so thanks again for getting the walking group up and running (ha!) and for the motivation and encouragement.
Good luck to all!

Congrats! What a great surprise for you. 3.8 pounds! I guess walking has more benefits than you realise! Way to go.0 -
How do you make yourself do more miles when you don't feel motivated to do it?
Put in a 5 mile tape and tell yourself you only have to do 2. Then just tell yourself you might as well do one more. Then you have to do 4 to have an even number and finally if you've already done 4 you might as well do the last one too!
It worked for me tonight anyway! I made it through the 5 fat burning miles and had no intention of doing the whole workout. But I'm glad I did.
Way to go AZ, 3.8 lbs is great!
Can you believe how quickly the weather has changed. I think we skipped fall here in Georgia!
Everybody looks like they are doing great on their miles! Keep up the good work!0
