    Hello walkers

    May I join your group?

I have done 3 mile walks with Leslie Sansone the last two days. It feels great to get moving again!

I only have a few WATP dvds... can you tell me what your favorite(s) are?

Also what successes have you had with WATP?

I forgot....Will there be a December SWaT group?

    Hi Nemrenu!

Welcome to the group. We're always glad to welcome new walkers and Yes we do plan on a December walk.

I've used mostly the WATP videos since I started walking in March. I've just recently started trying to get in some outside walking. I'll have to get back with you later on my favorites. I have several I really like and I'm sure the others will have some too.

Thank you Sandy smile: I am excited about joining and getting back on the road to exercising. What could be better than walking!

Yes I'd like to know your favorites, I have 2 older, LS- WATP, and a newer 5 miler. The newer seems alot less irritating.

Along with WATP I'm looking into Prevention's walking dvd's w/ Chis Freytag. I'm checking Netflix and my local library.

    Happy walking everyone:flowerforyou:

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I can tell already that this is going to be a hard week for me. I spent most of the day yesterday cleaning and I'll have to cook when I get home from work every night getting ready for Thanksgiving. If I don't cook some of the things ahead I'll never get everything done. I don't know if I'll get to walk any in the evenings and this is the week I need it most. I hope to do a little walking at lunch but I have an appointment this morning so I may have to use my lunch hours to make up my time!

Nemrenu, I really like the 4 mile Punch up your walk and there is a 5 fast miles that's good too. It seems like lately I don't have time for the longer workouts so I've been doing the 2-mile Big burn. It has intervals of boosted walking and it goes by really fast. There are lots of other good WATP workouts too but those are the 3 I seem to do the most when I'm working out frequently like I need to.

Well, I had a lazy weekend...I only did 2 miles yesterday so now I'm gonna have to punch it up this week to make my goal - in between holi-daze eating that is. I've got to prep my side for my work's potluck tomorrow, tomorrow night I'm shopping for Thanksgiving and packing for the fam to head to the beach for the long weekend, Wednesday we're driving the 4 hours to the beach - maybe I can job by my car when we get stuck in traffic to help me make up the miles?

Everyone is doing so well! Sandy - hang in there! Nemrenu - I'm interested in what you think of those Chris Freytag videos as I think I need to mix it up a bit cause even with all the WATP videos to choose from - I'm starting to crave more variety.

tracyts I have Walk Yourself Fit with Chris Freytag, I've had for a few years and never did. I fast forwarded through it this week end and could tell right away it had TO MANY dancy moves for me. But you might like? I bought LS, Walk At Home, 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk and did the 1st 3 miles today... it's more my speed. I too think I will need more variety. Who else makes "walking workouts" ?

Leslie, Love your new picture!

Tracy, I wish I was headed to the beach! Sounds wonderful.

I did manage to get in 2 1/2 miles during lunch today. I'm really liking the lunch-time walking. There are a few hills and it's just a different kind of walking than the dvd's. I did think about adding some arm moves & kicks & stuff but I was scared someone would call the police about a crazy lady walking around the neighborhood! I just decided I'd be an hour short on time this week in order to get in my walk! There's only about 8 days left in the month and I'm only half-way to my goal . . . it's not looking good but I'll get in what I can.

I also got all the cornbread and stuff ready to make my dressing tonight. Tomorrow night is more prep-work for the gravy & fixings. Then Wednesday night I'll actually mix everything up and cook it Thursday morning. I'll be glad when it's all over and I can quit cooking all this extra stuff!

Everybody keep up the good work! :drinker:

    Hello Walkers,

Back from a 4 day off of walking. I had a teriable cough I couldn't shake and everytime I even started walking I would cough. back though I walked 3 miles tonight and not a cough.

    Welcome to the new walker!

Tracy - I admit I am jealous to go to the beach. We are expecting snow by the end of the week. Yikes. I don't think I am ready for this white stuff yet.

Nemrenu: I'm not sure who else does walking tapes. I should check on Netflix or Exercise TV to see who else offers "walking" videos, especially now that I'm starting to crave some variety. I have the 5 mile fat burning LS dvd and it's a good one - really makes you work up a sweat. Hope you like it.

Sandy/Panda: Yes, the beach will be nice once we're there. All the prep work up till arrival is a little nerve-racking though. Not to rub in the weather Panda, it's supposed to be high 60s to low 70s with some threat of thundershowers on Friday. My husband and I discussed where we could move to before we got married and I made it clear I don't do snow - or at least long term snow which required shovelling. More power to you!

It's our work potluck today so I'm hoping to fit in 3 miles at home between all the prepping for the trip. Luckily, I have a really wonderful husband who offered to do the grocery shopping. I am SO lucky I snagged him

    Have a great Tuesday everyone!
  • I pushed myself a little bit more today did 4 miles no boost.

Having a hard time getting motivated this week. This will be the first year that I have no kids coming home for Thanksgiving. Not sure what to do now...

    Hello, Fellow Walkers.

It's been pretty hectic getting ready for the holidays, and I haven't checked in (although I've been walking!). Tonight, I tried the Walk at Home 2 Mile available On Demand through Exercise TV (with my local cable company). It's still with Leslie Sansone, but I felt like I wanted to add something different to the Walk Away the Pounds tapes I have been doing. I really liked this one - some new moves, but no weights. There are several titles from LS available On Demand, so I'm going to check them out over the next few weeks.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING. What a perfect day it will be to take a walk!!!!

    Hi Everyone,

I happened to come across this today and wanted to share it with you guys. Its a calculator for figuring out your Thanksgiving meal and it tells you how much you have to walk to burn it off.

    http://walking.about.com/library/cal/blthanksgivingcalories.htm?nl=1

Hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Try not to stress about it too much and enjoy the family time. Im alittle bummed out this year, my oldest dauger can't be with us for yet another holiday. She works for airport security. Shes not even allowed to request off.

Yesterday I came across a posting from another MFP member that is really worth reading. It was written by: SHBoss1673 the post is called "Thanksgiving things I've learned"

    Hello Everyone!

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow. I know I'll eat things I wouldn't normally eat but I"m going to enjoy the day, within reason. After tomorrow I'll have one more family dinner on Saturday and then it will be back to my normal eating routine. Notice I said "normal" because I know that I'll be back on track and it has become my normal eating routine now. It's feels good to realize that is true. So everyone just enjoy your holiday and we'll meet here again and keep on walking.

I didn't walk today at lunch because I was so tired last night. I knew I had a lot to do tonight and I wanted to be able to get everything done. But at least he worst (in preparation) is over so I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, enjoy your day! :flowerforyou:

I was just getting ready to go downstairs and do one of my 2 WATP DVDs and the mailman knocked on the door with my 2 new WATP DVDs. Sooo excited! Its been getting hard doing the same to over and over again.

So I just did The Big Burn 2 Miles of Intervals. Not bad at all. I was thinking of stopping at 1 mile because I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest and all of a sudden shes announcing we were getting to the end of the 2 miles. I didn't see the 1 mile marker. Maybe I tranced out or something. Wouldn't be the first time...lol.

Hello fellow walkers, I am tagging the thread so I can find you for December, lest I forget. I also use Leslie's dvd's, and walk outdoors, as well as use my elliptical.

Need to get seriously motivated this month and am counting on you all to give me a boost.

Looking forward to the miles, Alice

    Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and I see that some of you are already back to walking. Excellent.

I've really been slacking during the holidays but I am happy to say that all family celebrations are over. The leftovers are all disposed of or frozen. I went grocery shopping today and stocked up on low-cal healthy foods for the week. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be back to walking. I'm still at the same weight as before the holidays so I guess that is a good thing! Now back to working on those last 2 stubborn pounds.

Marie, The 2-mile you just got is one of my favorites. It really seems to fly by when I'm doing it.

Welcome to the group Alice. We will be doing a December walk.

    Have a good week! :flowerforyou:

    Hello, Fellow Walkers.

Sounds like everyone had a productive weekend. I, myself, did not walk on Wednesday (got busy prepping and cleaning for Thanksgiving) or Thursday (the day just got away from me with all the family stuff), but did finish my November goal tonight.

On Friday, I did Sansone's Walk and Tone from On Demand. It's 20 minutes and mixes walking with weights, but unlike the WAtP one mile, you stop walking in Walk and Tone when you do the weights. It also doesn't note miles walked (I assume it is less than a mile since you stop twice for the weights). So, Saturday and Sunday it was back to the workouts that track the miles.

Sandy, great to hear that you are planning to set things up for a December challenge. The motivation and support have been so helpful! :flowerforyou:

nemrenu, thanks for the tip on the Biggest Loser walk dvd release from Amazon. I like to add variety to the walks. :flowerforyou:

Marie, did you get one of the walking trackers? Let us know the prizes.

A couple more days to reach those November goals. Good luck to all!

    Hey everyone,

One more day and we got through another month. Hard to believe. Time is going way too fast.

Well tonight I did my 2 mile Express tape, minus any upper body exercises because I spent half the day shampooing carpeting. Im all ready to start Xmas decorating. Trying to talk myself into it.

Sandy - Glad your back and ready to refocus from the holidays. I know its hard. Thanksgiving is the easy one for me. Xmas will be harder. Im the one everybody expects to carry on the Polish traditional Xmas. I got the 2 mile intervals because I have heard you talk about it. Nemrenu - I don't know how new that one is honestly.

AZChatterB - I haven't gotten the walking tracker yet. They don't have it out, but it will be available soon. They do have an activity tracker you wear on your wrist though. Cost $20 bucks. From what I can remember reading you can earn gift certificates to Target and a few other places I think Best Buy, free ringtones bunch of others I can't remember. It would be a fun way to earn my new exercise stuff. Thinking about a HRM soon.

Well everyone have a good night. Will check in one more time tomorrow.

Then Im ready for Decembers Challenge!

Oh Yea Sandy! Looks like you and I are at our last couple pounds to reach our goals! Sooo are we gonna stop or go for just alittle more?

    Hey everyone!

It's raining here in Georgia so I didn't get to walk at lunch. I did the 2 mile big burn when I got home though. I really had to force myself to do it but I feel better now that I did.

Marie, I'm not going to stop until those last 2 pounds are gone! I don't care how long it takes they are just gonna hafta go!. I'd really like to lose about 10 more besides that but 2 will get me to my original goal.

I haven't done well towards my goal and I think this is my lowest mileage month since I've started walking. I hope December goes better without all the extra stuff going on. Work is going to be hard though since everyone in the office takes a day to bring something sweet to eat! I'm going to have to find something low-cal to take on my day! What they don't know won't hurt them. I also have my husband's work Christmas party on the 12th and an office lunch on the 16th. Why does every celebration have to be food related? I'll definitely have to keep my miles up this month.

Anybody got any low-cal dessert recipes I can sneak in on the office?

    Hello,

We had a hard Thanksgiving my mother in was in the hospital on Thanksgiving. She is home now and resting so that is a good relief. I did walk a few days during our 4 days off. Funny how I am just a creature of habbit with exerciseing good during the week versus the weekend. I eat so much better during the week. Anyways I am not going to my 60 mile goal, only short a few miles and I am ok with that. I still walked more then in October and September. So far since I started walking on September 20th I have 105 miles. Lost 3 inches in my stomach and waist. I am very happy with the out come. Don't worry I will still be here for Decebmer walking too.

Glad everyone had a great Thanksgiving. On to December!!!

Panda - Im sorry your mom is in the hospital. I know how hard that can be. My mom was under hospice care a couple years ago and couldn't leave where she was. I cooked the whole meal, packed it up and brought it to her. Even though she didn't eat anything we were with her thats all that mattered.

Sandy - Make those black bean brownies for the office!
