    Welp fellow lushes! Tonight I am going to The Edison in Downtown LA for a friends birthday party and I already have planned 2 glasses of merlot but I just saw the prices so I may cut that back to 1 ... at $ 12.00 a glass I could buy 6 bottles of 2 buck Chuck LOL. I am loading up on Water today too (although I am a tad behind on that again this morning).

    Keep it strong people!

    Hi everyone,

    11 days alcohol free for me :) Made the mistake of wandering into the wine section at the shop and I was nearly drooling, made my way out without buying anything though. My 2 favourite wines are half price at the moment too, probably won't still be on offer when I'm drinking again but I know if I had them in the house it would be so hard not to drink them.

    Not always Robin, I find it easier to have none at all than one glass and leave the rest in the bottle

    Room for another lush??? I think I've "lurked" on this thread from the very beginning?? I've got many a chuckle I must say! :laugh: I too struggle with the fun and drinking on the weekends, always trying to limit it, but never quite succeeding. I eat so good all week and workout, then comes the weekend and things go alllll downhill. And I eat REALLLLY bad when I'm hungover. It's awful. So my new resolution is to NOT be hungover! Duh! But us lushes know that's easier said than done. Just thought I'd say hi and maybe get some support on the quest of sobriety (or semi-sobriety I should say! ). Not a big wine drinker, but I DO love me a jumbo margarita....and Mic Ultra is my drink of choice. Hey, it's low in carbs right????:bigsmile:
    Oh mcdebbie....LOVE your profile pic...a swim up bar is my favorite place on earth! Okay maybe not favorite, but close. :drinker:

    i should bring a flask ... but not with wine ;) Then again i threw out all my vodka so I would have to go with Johnny Walker Red. Nah. I will pop for the wine.

    I plan on doing X stretch tonight after getting home, we'll see how that goes LOL.

    Oh my I apparently need to check in this thread a bit more often. Did not have very good days off...well they were fun just not very good saying at NO. I am thinking if I start out with making a small commitment....hmmmm just what is that I want to commit to. I am thinking maybe every other set of days off I will let myself indulge a little. It is just that it is getting so cold out that nothing seems to warm me better then a hot bath and a glass of red wine...or two :)

    Welcome Sunlover! We've all talked about eating after drinking and the poor choices we make but just for giggles let's list our favortie hangover food. :bigsmile: Mine is a Big Mac.... nothing like the secret sauce for that hangover. One of the best days of my life was when my daughter turned 16 and could drive to McDonalds and get my hangover fix. :laugh: :laugh: Is that terrible or what?

    Well get this....I don't eat red meat, don't ask me why, it just grosses me out. NORMALLY anyway, but on a badddd hangover day, I can't RUN to the nearest McDonalds fast enough for a Big Mac fix. Isn't that crazy?? My girlfriends laugh at me soooo hard for that. But I gotta be really, realllly hungover. So it only happens a few times a year. But generally, the "day after" I want something sweet, then I want something salty, then I want something sweet.....you get the idea. It's nonstop alllll day. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. :laugh:

    Good morning lushes...

    Last night was a sober one for me...hubs tried to get me to go out and watch a game at a local bar...I said, no way...with tonight that would make 4 days in a row...I supposed to be getting better, not worse.

    Tonight is dinner out with friends at our favorite Greek restaurant...yummy...with a bottle of wine of course...I have to start working out to earn it...LOL

    Happy Friday, time to uncork the bottles!!!

    Welcome Sunlover! I'm a newbie too...

    Last night DH and I played volleyball and the team was going out for beers afterwards. We had a sitter and we both wanted to go SO BADLY but we didn't and went home and snuggled instead. We actually ate at home too--usually if it's late we'd order chinese or a pizza.

    Speaking of Chinese...it's my absolute fave hangover food. Must be the MSG. :tongue: Or, a Big Mac, fries, and Diet Coke.

    I've gone 12 days without drinking. I realize that I miss the "ritual" of it. DH coming home from coaching, we make dinner, put the kids to bed, then relax with a beer or a glass of wine. <sigh>

    Monday=0 drinks, I was getting sick, some kind of stomach flu so I couldn't eat much and didn't drink anything. Tuesday night I felt better and thought a glass of red wine would be good for my tummy, but Wednesday I was ill again.
    Wednesday=0 drinks
    Thursday=0 drinks
    Not sure about tonight. Making butternut squash soup with toasted sandwiches.
    I am feeling lighter today!

    My favorite hangover thing is the McGriddles Sausage from McDonald's ... I think THIS more then anything is why they say to abstain from drinking while trying to lose weight ... it's those day after MUST HAVE GREASE choices. 420 calories and 1,030mg sodium in that tasty treat LOL ...

    Last night I went to The Edison in Downtown LA. If you live in So Cal or the LA Area this is a MUST GO TO Bar/Restaurant. It's pretty amazing but very expensive. I had my 2 glasses of wine and had 4 sweet potato fries and man could I ever taste the salt! I also had | | that much cheesecake (it's bad luck to not eat the birthday girls cake).

    I gotta say though that I got BUZZED from those 2 glasses of red ... omg, I got home and couldn't believe how buzzed I was. I managed to close out my food diary and get another 4 glasses of water down me (had 2 at the club). I woke up this morning and weighted myself and was down another pound plus LOL ... No more for a while though! That was good though I loves me a good glass of wine!

    McDonalds seems to be the hangover hot spot!:laugh:
    We are having dinner with friends tonight and a 40th bday party tomorrow night for another friend. I try to pick one night out of the weekend to "overindulge" and I think it's tonight. I'll drive tomorrow night so then I have to behave. :sad: I had a great workout on the treadmill this morning so I feel I can splurge a little. And it's beautiful here in Maine today, which us unusual for November, so I've been outside puttering around. But that works against me b/c when its warm and sunny, it just makes me want a cold beer! I can't win. :grumble:
    Have a great weekend lushes. (that word still cracks me up) :drinker:

    My fall/winter drink is hot chocolate with some St. Brendan's in it....ZOMG, soooo yummy. Fortunately, I'll be off my Sober November kick and just abstaining one week out of every month. I just need to remember to have one. Damn chocolate, packing so many extra (but delicious) calories!!

    I love a bacon sandwich as my hangover cure. Sometimes enjoy one after a workout at the gym too!
  • Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay Coconut Rum is awesome in hot chocolate, in fact, I have yet to find something that it does NOT taste good in.............:drinker: Ouch, that could be a reason I am on this post??????

    10 days to go and I will be drink free for 4 weeks. I can't believe it. But maybe I shouldn't speak too soon, LOL!! I will be probably get drunk off a glass of wine over Thanksgiving.

    You heard it here first, I am NOT taking December off because of all the holiday festivities!! But I will definitely not go back to a glass or three most days of the week.

    My fave winter drink is warm apple cider with rum, YUM!

    changed up dinner plans so no wine tonight. I am doing vodka! smiley-eatdrink048.gif
  • I am going to hold out from drinking until I go on vacation and then I am just gonna have a good time. Going to eat what I want (small portions) and drink what I want (not so small portions) When I get back from vacation I will return to sobriety. I still cannot believe I am not having the 2 cocktails every evening. I thought I needed them. I enjoy my cocktails but I don't HAVE to have them. That is kind of freeing.
