Hey
For the next 10 weeks I am determine to lose 20 pounds and today is my first day of the 1200-1300 calorie diet. Anyone with me? Just add me I would appreciate every friend request, just am really wishing I have a strong willed community. I eat very healthy (no junk food ever for 2 years, not even once ), but dont expect others to eat this maniac way. I need a support group that dont exceed calorie limits, so that I can get motivated to go through this 10 weeks.
I know calories are low, but I know what I do and actually must do it. I am 5ft7-5 ft8, around 152 pounds, want to be around 20 less in 10 weeks. I gained weight with a healthy paleo lifestyle, because I binged on potatoes with butter due to depression for several months.

Hello,
I like the spirit. I would like to join you in this task. Let have a transformation in coming 10 weeks.0 -
Hey add me in..
Even I want a buddy to keep me checked and motivated in this journey. My goal is to loose abt 25-26 pounds in next 3 months.
Lets do it together...0 -
i would consider a more realistic goal that is less likely to end in failure and bingeing... but thats just me!0
-
I am trying to achieve a similar goal (10 kilos) and I am on a 1200 calories a day diet! let's join this effort together!0
-
Yes please add me.0
-
I am set at 1200 calories a day, honestly I don't eat perfectly "clean" but I don't find it incredibly difficult to keep it at 1200.0
-
So I was just wondering how you guys develop such strong willpower to stick to 1200 calories a day? I have a similar goal but I keep finding myself going over.
Also do you find a stricter network more beneficial or a network whose people can relate to your setbacks?0 -
This is a setup for failure. Smh :noway: :noway: :noway:0
-
I just don't have any foods that I really enjoy so that probably helps a lot. I am weird, but honestly if I had certain foods I loved I would find it very hard to stay at 1200 probably. From your profile pic you look great already anyways0

Of what? The water? :huh:0 -
Im the same as crikey katie. I would like to join you!. How do you add some one?0
-

This. 1200 calories is a way too low calorie goal for most people in the long term. Do you really see yourself eating like this for the rest of your life?0 -
Add me. I too am at 1200 calories a day and am not doing such a hot job. Exercising no issues....eating ummmm; yeah. I have 30 pounds to lose0
-
Hey, thanks for your interest in this challenge!
Sorry if I made somebody uncomfortable with my clean eating habits, I didnt mean that I expect the support group to be like me in this matter. I do it for health reasons (former acne sufferer) and because I like the feeling to be 100% dedicated to something. I dont crave fast food. I eat paleo diet plus beans, lugumes and occaisonal grains.
With strict I meant just fitting into those 1200 calories, something very difficult for me at least!
I will add you!
P.S. To those of you who said it is programmed for failure, I respect your opinion, just dont share it. If the diet is rich in nutritions and is short term and the right mindset is present, I believe will be very beneficial. Anyways, wish you luck all of you and stay motivated!0 -

For me NOT doing a daily total but a WEEKLY helps a lot! I do 8400 per week and don't worry much over the individual day!0 -
Why should weight loss be a "challenge"? :huh:0

Really 1200 for the rest of my life????? NO! I'm on a Diet! when the weight is off I will gradually add calories back to my TDEE!!! Not sure why people think eating this way is permanent!0 -
Good luck.
You are 22yo, 5'7", 152lbs, female. I entered that info into a BMI calculator. Your BMI is 23.8. Normal range for someone with your stats is 18.5-24.5. It will be VERY difficult for you to lose 2lbs a week consistently, and if you do, you will be losing lean mass, not fat. 2lbs is doable for obese/overweight people - not so much for people in a normal weight range.
But hey, do want you gotta do. If (and when) you get frustrated with your progress you may want to consider reading these links>>>

I'd b happy to join you, i am aiming to lose wight and am on a strict calorie intake, eating what healthy things, i like and not stuff i don't like0
-
I've eaten under 1300 for the last 9 weeks. I've recently upped my calories to1500 as I've intensified my strength training and have added BCAA's to my diet (thought I would need the leeway in allotment of calories). I've yet to need the 1500, as I'm perfectly satisfied, still, they're there if I need them.
You're more than welcome to add me0 -
I respect your opinion, just dont share it.
Best comment i have seen in the forums for a long time... and thats even with the excuses for not having sex thread still going strong!

^This. I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, and my goal is 1900 cal per day for 0.5 lb per week loss. Which may seem slow, but it is realistic because I don't have enough fat on my body to handle a huge deficit and I'd like to keep my muscle and not look like a hot mess when I'm done.0 -
Have you considered the possibility that binge eating on potatoes and being depressed may be the direct results of being too strict and restrictive with your diet?
It's a normal survival response..... you do paleo, right? Well what do you think a half-starved Homo erectus would do if he or she came across a lot of food? Eat it all. Quickly. Before the other Homo erectuses find it and expect it to be shared (they shared food). In a modern context, this is called "binge eating" - in a palaeolithic context, it's called a survival response....... we're mostly like Homo erectus, just with a bit more frontal lobe and cerebral cortex. Our bodies respond the same way. Go without food for a long time, then binge eating is a normal, natural way that your body tries desperately to get enough nutrition to function properly.
As for depression - well not eating enough can make anyone feel depressed and yes I know that's not the same as clinical depression (I know, I've had that myself)..... but not eating enough will make clinical depression worse. Not eating enough can cause you to feel tired, worn down, miserable, lacking energy... this is the *last* think you want going on if you have clinical depression. Eating more and doing exercise will help you to feel better and stronger. If you don't have clinical depression, then feeling depressed all the time could be caused by not eating enough. Going back to Homo erectus... .do you think Homo erectus was happy and cheerful when he or she wasn't getting enough to eat? No. So why would you expect a Homo sapiens to be cheerful when not eating enough?
So I think your weight loss goal and your calorie intake is unrealistic and you're setting yourself up for failure. I know this is not what you want to hear and you probably think I'm being a meanie.... but I'm actually saying this because 1. I would like you to succeed (albeit with a more realistic goal) and 2. because it actually pains me to see people do things that are only going to cause them pain, suffering and set themselves up for failure - even complete strangers. Because it really sucks and it's very bad for physical and mental health. It's the last thing you want to be doing to yourself.
there's a thread on here "your guide on your path to sexypants" - read that carefully and do what it says, it's how to find the highest number of calories you can eat and still lose weight steadily. Yes it's slower. But you'll like the results a lot better - i.e. you'll look much better when you get to goal weight (because you'll have lost 20lb of *FAT* and not burned up your lean mass or lost loads of water weight and only a little bit of fat) and you'll also find it a lot easier to stay at your goal weight when you get there, because you didn't torture yourself or burn off lean mass in the process - your metabolism will stay fast and you'll be in the habit of eating the right amount of food to stay healthy.
Please carefully consider what I'm saying and don't take it as an attack (like so many people on this forum do to well meaning advice that isn't what they want to hear)....... I get that you probably have some event or something you want to be lean for... but like when planning anything else, if you leave things until the last minute, you can't get the same results if you rush through it. Just think, if you do this the healthy way, you won't be in this situation again after that, because you'll be maintaining your new, healthier body and goal weight without too much difficulty - just keeping on with the exercise and good portion control. Most people fail because they set themselves up for failure by being too strict... don't be one of those people.0 -
i would consider a more realistic goal that is less likely to end in failure and bingeing... but thats just me!
I think its pretty realistic goal!!! if you think about it 10 weeks is 2 1/2 months... and its less than 10 lbs a month and about 1 3/4 lbs a week
its not unrealistic its actually doable!!
good luck!! you can do it!!0 -

I've lost 40 pounds so far ( going from 165 to almost 125 pounds now) doing 1,100 to 1,300 calories a day. It doesn't work for everyone, but it has worked for me. Good luck!0

There is very important information in here. Your weight loss and calorie goals are far too aggressive. Someone at your current bmi should be looking to lose at a much slower rate. The goal on your profile of losing 32 pounds would put you at a very low bmi just a few pounds above the underweight category. You may want to reconsider a few things.0 -
Add me in to this goal. I had lost the 20 lbs and kept it off for two years. I now have put some back on. I started to drink some wine which add to calories and then I eat. So, I know why it happened. I am small so 1200 cal/day is correct for me to lose. I know this works for me and it will work for you. I am also a black and white type person. I do best by just eliminating things as I don't do moderation very good. So for me, no drinking and binging, document everything that goes in my mouth.
We can do this!!0 -
Hi, I am quiet new at this too. I have at least 10lb to lose in the next 9 weeks and am on 1200 calories a day. I haven't lost a lb yet, but I am exercising 4 times a week and started walking at lunch times. But I do sit on my ample *kitten* the rest of the time. I am not struggling to keep within the 1200 calories, in fact someday, I am less, especially with exercise added. Although after a week I am fruited out!! I am eating lots of chicken and pork stirfrys with only a tiny amount of soy sauce. I am 44 5ft 3inches and managed to get down to 9st a couple of years ago. Then moved and stopped training and have snuck back up to 10st 8lb. I'll be happy to get back down to 9st 7lb for my holiday, just so I don't have to go out any buy more holiday clothes. But really now thinking about fit and healthy for life, rather than slimming!! Hope we can both stick at our 1200 cals a day. Good luck0
