OP asked for friends then the tread went off into tangents but a few posts back OP thanked everyone noting that she hadn't added anyone. Some on this thread have indicated they will add so go for it :flowerforyou:0 -
Sorrz, I meant I havent add everybody, who told me to add him or her, but didnt send me a request. The reason is that I tried, but there were a lot of people and I lost track who I added and who I didnt. I apologize for that. You can still add me, but send a request, as I am done with the thread until maybe 3 months0
-
Don't blame ya! I'll send you an add just now0
-
add me please! Thanks.0

Wouldn't it be great if it were a requirement for these "I need to lose X pounds by Y date - who is with me!" threads that everyone who signed up for them had to come back and report their results, with open diaries and honest logging? Wouldn't it also be great if those people who found the goal too restrictive and unsustainable had the humility to admit this to those people who tried to give them advice and help along the way?
I am sure there will be people signing up for this who will be successful, particularly those with more weight to lose, and undoubtedly many of the people trying to restrict to 1200 calories will lose some weight if they adhere to that. I just wish that those who do struggle with it, who find it unsustainable or have negative outcomes, would own up to it on this particular thread, so that people who think these "quick fix" methods are a good idea may think twice. Because all the people here currently giving dissenting opinions are automatically labeled as trolls.

From your profile pic you look great already anyways
Of what? The water?
hahahaha0 -
I am doing the same . Trying to stick to 1200 calories. Feel free to friend request me.0
-
Your goal is ambitious but achievable with the right determination! I am actually planning to lose a stone over the next month or so by doing 1000 calories or less a day , so I will add you and join you for some motivation. You can do it!!0

You just may find that on a 1200 calorie diet, if that is your max you will gain as you body goes into starvation mode. I was in this state for years. I worked out and ate correctly for a year without losing. I increased my calories so that I eat a minimum of 1200 and no more than 1400 each day. I eat every 2-3 hours and within 1 hour of getting up and end 2 hours before bed. My breakfast, lunch, and dinner are over 200 calories but all my snacks are below. My snacks are all healthy. Once I changed to this method I started losing slowly but surely which is the best way to keep it off. I am down 11 lbs in 4 months. I am 5 4 and was 191 lbs. If you do a short term 1200 calories, you may find either you will gain or once you go back to your higher calories you will gain.0

I'm no expert but it's not the amount per week that's in question it's the amount relative to your BMI. If you are already quite lean it's hard to lose that much weight. I would think that it is not necessarily unrealistic, but definitely sounds unhealthy.0

Ha Ha Ha Ha..... I thought the same thing.0 -
Dang! And I thought I was kicking butt with a goal of losing 54 pounds over the next twelve months.
I don't wanna rush it. The journey is quite wonderful and the transformation quite fascinating.
Venus de Milo wasn't chiseled out overnight, and this Diva won't be either.

I don't agree that 1200 calories or a 2lb per week goal is right for OP.
However,no, she will not go into starvation mode.0 -
I'm following a 1250 calories a day eating plan. I am still in the obese BMI category so I'm happy to keep my calories tight for now. Feel free to add me if you're similar... I keep my diary open and I think I eat pretty healthy.0

Here is what you should say to someone if you disagree with their weight-loss plan:0

It works great until you post on a public forum. Perhaps if they didn't want opinions and discussion they shouldve wrote in their diary about their plan. Voice activated maybe even0 -

Your diary makes me sad. You really only eat 600 calories a day? This is the stuff everyone calls out. People who starve themselves and try to bash successful people for giving good above about weight loss and sustainability.
If I'm the dark side, I'll stay there.
Ps. I'm 5'3.5" and lost 53 lbs eating 1650 net.0 -
I'm about the name height and weight as you are - looking to lose 15 lbs. I began Jenny Craig nearly 2 weeks ago and have lost 4 lbs. The 1200-1300 calories is brutal but I'm hoping the hunger pangs and the urges to binge subside in another week or two. I'm. trying to lose the weight by my next birthday ( mid-September). This is not easy!!!0

Good luck.
You are 22yo, 5'7", 152lbs, female. I entered that info into a BMI calculator. Your BMI is 23.8. Normal range for someone with your stats is 18.5-24.5. It will be VERY difficult for you to lose 2lbs a week consistently, and if you do, you will be losing lean mass, not fat. 2lbs is doable for obese/overweight people - not so much for people in a normal weight range.
But hey, do want you gotta do. If (and when) you get frustrated with your progress you may want to consider reading these links>>>

Hi, I'm on the same journey. I'm eating no more then 1,400 calories prefer below 1,200. I've lost 31pounds so far but have at least 50 more to lose. PLEASE feel free to add me. I'm full of positive motivation. Also, I can use any extra motivation given to keep focused.0
-
I wouldn't set a goal like "lose ___ pounds in ___ weeks" type of goal. Your goal should be to lose that weight, but you shouldn't place a time on it. You may not reach it and you may give up on losing weight all together. Anyways, I eat 1300 calories a day so if you need a friend, I'm here0

And it's not even 600 cals of nutrient rich food - but 600 cals of diet coke and potato chips :noway:
Worst Diary ever0 -
I have been on a 1000 calorie a day for almost 2 years.
I am not on a diet, that is my new life style.
Your goal is very do-able!
I say go for it!
Says anyone with an eating disorder....
No. So much no.
She's 62 years old. Give her a break. If it works for her, then let her do it. No reason to bash it.
I will be 62 next month...I don't expect anyone to give me a break.
Here are my thoughts...
The older that you are the more harmful poor eating habits are. Your body does not recover at the same rate that a younger body will. The poor eating habits and the excess weight that I had in my 40s and 50s took its toll on my health. Even though after having lost the weight...adding exercise and increasing my daily activity...I have not and will probably never be at the level that I would be if I was in my 40s or 50s.
It has improved drastically. That is because after all of these years I have stopped abusing myself. I didn't get to this point however because of thinking that I needed people to give me a break.
If that poster chooses to drink prune juice for every meal...well that is her choice. However...NO ONE...should "give her a break" simply because she is 62...not if they care about their fellow human being.
One last thought...
At age 62 we don't have that many "redos" left. If we want to get it right...we got to do it NOW. I figure at best...I got 20 years left...I don't need a break...I need to be healthy...fit...and enjoying life!0 -

I didn't look at her diary because she was not asking for help, so it is no one's business what she eats. If she asks for help then an honest approach is best. Folks forget that as we age, we tend to become less active meaning we require less food BUT any advice should be based on the individual situation.
I am in my mid 50's so I want to be as healthy and fit as possible BUT I am doing it my way. I don't need anyone other than my health care providers giving me unsolicited advice on my food, my activity level or anything else I'm doing that doesn't mesh with their beliefs. In that respect, this member you are talking about deserves the same courtesy. That being said, at some point if she is eating poorly on a consistent basis, she will quickly find out that undoing the damage will be very difficult if not impossible BUT she doesn't need me or anyone else to tell her so.0 -

I think the point is someone who is triple the age of the OP and giving advise when she is eating poorly maybe shouldn't be giving advise.
If someone gives me advise I look at their diary and look at how much weight they have lost if it's someone who eats rubbish or just logs cals then their advise to me is worthless.0 -
I'm on a 1300 calorie diet Please add me and we can help motivate each other and reach our goals!!0
