Joyce, I like the idea of celebrating Christmas in February. Our big family celebration is usually a week before Christmas just so everyone can have their small family celebrations on Christmas. But February...that's a great idea.

I was heading for the gym but took a walk instead. It was a good one for me...about 45 minutes. I'm still pretty out of shape. I'm amazed at how fast that happens.

I felt good about taking the walk though. I was just about set to go when DD invited me to join them and a guest for dinner. I argued with myself about it. Finally, I told her I really needed to get to the gym (that changed - but the idea's the same). I guess that counts as an NSV.

I'm finally feeling settled in here at my house in the foothills - and am getting ready to leave again Monday morning. Oh boy. I wish I were better at transitions. I make good plans but...

I see that Kim and I are often the last ones to post from the states for the day. Anyone in Hawaii? That would beat us timewise.

    G'night
    Mimi

mimi- Thanks. I have regained about 10 pounds since the "after" pic, but am working on it. I don't want to go backwards!! I had an incredibly stressful year at work which has led to retiring a bi before I had planned. Now I can concentrate on my health and also on my aging parents.

    morning lovely ladies~
well we didnt end up going to the seafood restaurant, we ended up at panera bread, I ended up having a tomato and mozzerella panini, which was delish but 740 calories, I did have the calorie count to do it though..
    then off to the concert..
I have come to the conclusion that ,It is not as much fun as it used to be, I did wear my ear plugs which was just fine, but I got to sit next to this young drunk girl that was dancing all over the place.. and Tom and I had to take a nap so we could stay up late enough
thats enough for me for awhile
Tomorrow I read that Goodwill opens at 7, so this girl will be over there early in the parking lot with my up of tea waiting for it to open up.. it will be my thrill of the weekend.. I know sad isnt it?
We went to see DFIL yesterday and it wasnt good.. he was violent and really upset Tom alot,he was trying to get out, and when we got there there was fire in his eyes,Tom tried taking him outside and his father was screaming at him why are you turning on me, he was really out there. Tom brought him back inside and went out to the car. I tried to calm him down with lemon meringue pie ,but he was having none of it he pushed the table away.. so we just left..
It is so hard to see your family turn into someone they are not...
we are stopping at Lowes, then over to Sams for a few things then to see my DFIL ,hopefully he is better today..
hope everyone is enjoying there weekend:heart::drinker:

Good morning from a gloriously sunny Hampshire UK! :flowerforyou:

Anamika - I have missed you! Please start posting again!:flowerforyou:

Alison - so sorry about your DFIL. It must be so hard.

Pat - I know it sounds as if I am a bit obsessed about the children's food, but my DDIL has high standards! I adore her, and I want to give the DGC what they are used to. Today I went to the huge supermarket and bought myself some lightly smoked undyed cod for lunch and have kept some back to make two portions of cauliflower, potato and fish for DGD. I also gave myself some fall backs with children's organic no sugar fruit yoghourts and fromage frais tubes. Also incredibly healthy children's oaty biscuits and rice cakes! The one naughty snack I have bought is chocolate covered raisins which I will give out sparingly to DGS when he eats his fruit.
He will also get some biscuits with icing on because we are going to be making dinosaurs! I have bought 3D cutters so the dinosaurs can stand up. 4 different dinosaurs. DGS knows all the names!

So am slowly getting there. I just wish I didn't have this house swap to prepare for at the same time. I'm going to finish cleaning the oven today. D H has promised to do the fridge and lawn tomorrow. He is at cricket today. I need to get out into the garden at some point.:ohwell: massive weeding needed.
No time to read yesterday's paper - going to make the baby dinners and watercress and cannellini bean soup for DS and DDIL for when they arrive quite late on Wednesday. We are having wild salmon and roasted cauliflower for dinner tonight.

Love to all. I understand you have a holiday tomorrow? Have a good one!

    Good morning!

Brought in newspaper and had super quick walkabout in the garden........almost 80 already, expecting 90, very humid, almost drippy, the air is so wet and heavy. Late sown marigolds and cosmos are blooming...........tomatoes and cucs about done. Just "uncomfortable" out there, will be mainly an indoor day.

Huge race in town today, brought here by a national company that puts on these themed half marathons............ the medics will be busy with people trying to run in this heat and esp. the humidity. Have had deaths several years in this race due to poorly prepared people or those with undiagnosed ailments thinking that are invincible, very chaotic, not one I ever volunteer for. Last year the person who died was 50, but previous years they were 23 and 27. Heartbreaking and avoidable if peole would just be more realistic about their training and abilities. Not a day for anyone but the extremely well trained athlete to attempt a half marathon race; but they will.

    Mimi..........Congratulations for your ticker movement!!!

    Margaret............Love the ape selfie.

Silvia..........Well, when you explain the 100mi. like that it does seem more doable.........I'll still be cheering you on! Good luck!!

    Anamika.............A huge HELLO..............you are missed!!!

    Stay strong!!

    Good morning everyone!

I just finished my strength training for arms and legs. Treadmill is next. We really enjoyed Phantom of the Opera. They said this is a new production. It was fabulous! The sets, costumes, special effects and of course the music were really first class.

Brian and our old pug girl are getting along. She sleeps all of the time now, so it is easy for both of them.

Yanniejannie, I hope the race goes well today with no tragedies.

Mimi, congratulations on your loss and ticker movement!

Margaret, LOL, thanks for the giggle!

Sylvia, loved the plumber/doctor joke. Rescue dogs are the best aren't they!

    Anamika, welcome back!

Allison, hugs for all you go through.

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone!!

    Hugs,

Well it’s a stormy Sunday here today. We have already had nearly 9” of rain this week with more to come. I had a nice quiet night last night with everyone gone. The cousin recognized DH but not DD#2. He is much better; gets around ok, does his own grooming and dressing, but still gets agitated easily. His long term memory is very good but short term not so great. So when the wife and he go somewhere, she always asks him for the directions and mostly he gets it close to right! The feeding tube is out and he will eat anything you give him, but does not really enjoy or have any interest in food. For those of you who don’t remember or didn’t know, hubby’s cousin, who is in his 70s, fell off a scaffold while painting a church and had a horrible head injury early this year.

Heather: good news on the hose. I think even dh will wonder how he lived without one!

Alison: thanks for the info! I will look for it I bet you have lost inches. What a great feeling!

Renny: we “spring clean” like you are doing one room a month, with November and December off. It takes us 2 years to get through the house, but at least once every 2 years every drawer, nook, and cranny gets emptied out and totally cleaned. I should do more but we have a big, three story house and I would get nothing else done!

Yanniejannie: (((hugs))) I’m sure the news does bring up old, sad memories for you

Michele: I needed your tractor yesterday. I mowed and the grass was so long and heavy even our power mower had a hard time getting through!

Barbie: about once every other month we take Benny Beagle to the “dog laundry”. He loves it! Thanks in advance for the September thread

Kim: I can’t believe how expensive that apartment is! 600 square feet in Omaha would be about $400/month. We own rentals and the most expensive one we have is 1400 square feet for $850. It has a three car garage and a huge fenced backyard.

Heather: Little Women was one of my favorites too, partly because the “best” character was Meg!

CindY: Benny and I are glad Brian did well with the dental. Enjoy Phantom! It is phenomenal.

Sylvia: enjoy your party! Where do you see the walking challenge? I would like to look at it.

Beth: it’s incredible what all is in our food, isn’t it?

    Margaret: hilarious pic!

DebA: what a fabulous difference! All your hard work has paid off!

Anamiki: so glad to see you again. I read in the paper about your festival there in Mumbai. I hope it was fun for you

Well I am going off to do some cleaning (who knew I could clean?). We are supposed to have lots of storms today so I may not be back on. So….see you in September! Take care, Meg from Omaha where the clouds are threatening!

Deb A – congrats on retirement; even though it is a bit early:smile: … Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Alison – sorry to hear your DIL is in a bad place… hoping he is doing better!

Heather – Monday is a USA federal holiday – it is Labor Day a day to celebrate the Labor movement, giving workers rights, protection...:drinker: . But restaurants, retail stores are all open…

YannieJannie – hope the run is death free! I don’t run, so don’t understand why anyone would run in such inappropriate weather….

So got an invitation for a end of Sept. small "dressy" wedding ... I have NOTHING to wear:sad: but my local savers (a second hand clothing store) is having 50% off today... so I am going over to see if I can find anything. Even when I was at my old high weight I did not have much dressy and I dress up so infrequently I have not replaced that stuff.. and hope to continue to loose --so don't want to spend much on something I'll wear one time.

    August goals :
    Stretch 5 minutes a day 4 out of 30
Walk 45 minutes a day 27 times out of 30
Do Heather’s abc balance 1 time a week 4 weeks done yeah!!!

    September goals:
    Stretch 5 minutes 8 times
    walk 100 miles
Do 4 errands walking (from home or a 15 minute walk from the place the car is parked)
Do Heather’s abc balance 2 time a week

Glad to know your cousin - inlaw has come so far. Hope he continues to improve. I love your idea for spring cleaning one room at a time. It seems overwhelming to think of the entire house, but I could manage one room. I think our house would take 11 months and the lake house another eight.

Kim, I'm in a similar spot. We are going to the Kansas City Symphony and I have absolutely nothing to wear. Our first date was to the KC Symphony, so this is a little bit special. Don't want to show up in a tshirt and flip flops. There is a new consignment store in town that I've heard good things about, so I might try that first.

Cindy, yes, I love dogs so much! We have had three purebred whippets. Two came from shelters and one came from a puppy mill that was shut down and the dogs adopted out by a breed group. I never think of her as a rescue, but I suppose she is. All our other dogs over the years have been from shelters. I don't care about having dogs with fancy papers, and have no desire to breed dogs. My trouble is when I go to a shelter I want them all. Last time I went to donate dog food I left sobbing.

Animika, I've been wondering about you. What have you been up to?

We went hiking at the lake yesterday evening and noticed the dogs biting at their legs afterward. Then this morning hubby and I found several VERY tiny ticks on our ankles as well as bumpy rashes. I think they are from noseeum bugs, but can't be sure. Boy, so they itch!

The joke of the day is stupid, but here it is. Maybe someone will enjoy it:

Guy: Is you dad still in jail?

    Girl: For what?

Guy: For stealing all the stars in the sky and putting them in your eyes!

    Have a great Sunday!

    Good afternoon beautiful ladies:flowerforyou:

Aminka:smile: It's so good to see you again:flowerforyou: !!! I don't get to post very often but I do try to keep up with everyone here, I've missed your posts!!

Hope everyone that celebrates Labor Day is having a fantastic weekend! I started out with dinner out Friday night and it hasn't stopped yet...busy busy, but a fun busy:happy: ! I have the grand girls now, we have been playing outside, riding bikes, riding scooters, playing volleyball, shooting nerd bow and arrows....it's break time now, cookies and lemonade for the girls and a little lemonade mixed with seltzer water for me. They have already informed me it's almost time to go back outside, it's hot and humid out too:frown: , but one must do what one needs to do....

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!!

    My oven is sparkling!

And I can tell you that if DGD doesn't eat her dishes I will! They are delicious!

I made the soup today, but it needs more watercress. Will get more tomorrow. Serves me right for buying stuff in a bag instead of locally grown plants from the Farmer's Shop.

Meg - your cleaning plan is great! Currently our bedroom is getting me dowm. Fortunately our guests won't be spending much time in there, as I am preparing two other rooms for them, (one is an escape room for the wife to get away from the snoring) apart from using DH'S great power shower occasionally, but I feel a redecoration coming on, which will involve a complete emptying and tidying. Our painter friend said he would schedule it in, but we haven't heard from him lately. It is so nice when things are clean, but I am not the world's best housewife! Out of sight is out of mind - you should see my utility room! :noway: One thing I have never understood since we moved in, is why the bedroom carpet is hard and scratchy cord, when all the other carpet in the house is soft.:noway: So much of the house needs "refreshing". Good job my friends are not fussy. Their house in glorious Cornwall is brand new and was designed and built by our friend. Physically built. It is the third one he has done.
I adore Cornwall, especially the north coast. I would live there if it wasn't so far from London. We have another set of friends there we are visiting on the Tuesday so should be happily busy. Lots of lovely cliff walks.

    afternoon ladies~
oh dear what a day this has been.. I didn't do any formal exercise, but have been on my feet all day, so I am parking my butt at least for a little while and icing my heel:grumble:
I get a call from my DB saying that dad called him( now mind you my brother right now is in New Hampshire) saying that his car broke down on the road to his friends house.. he was home, so someone must have brought him home.. he has a 1995 toyota corolla that has probably 400,000 miles on it, mind you this is the one that he took both of the right tires out on a few weeks ago...
so my DSIL calls triple A and sends them up there to tow it.. now this rd,turns into a dirt rd, and then there are offshoots of it everywhere, if you dont know where your going then your lost, and do you think my father would give an address? ohhhhh noooo. SO here ol Allie goes,to find him, now I havent been up that road and driveway in probably 25 years.. and I was driving down driveways and offshoots for probably half an hr before I found him, No he doesnt have a cell phone, and he was ticked off that the wrecker couldnt find him...
If it took me a 1/2 hr ,why would you think it would be easy for them..soooo I dont get a thank you ,he just starts ranting that they should know where this is etc....:noway: anyway I had to go down to the intersection and wait for the tow truck so that he could find his way to the car.. so all this took a couple of hrs.. came home and grilled the DH a steak and I made myself a turkey burger..
between my dad , and my DFIL im amazed I havent started drinking:wink:
so my snack for tonight will be a cup of tea and a piece of carrot cake, will scrap some of that sweet frosting off.. and I am under calories today..
  • Namaste all my Yogis and non-Yogis,

The hot weather finally got me. It feels like I am allergic to the sun. Every time I go outside , which is like stepping in a huge hair dryer, I am immediately dehydrated and do not feel well.

Not a good thing for me, as I am such an outdoor person and do not like to run or bike on machines.

I decided that I am going to train for a triathlon and so I have to start power-walking before I run, to convince my legs that they can do something else but biking.. As the only time of the day I can be outside, is early in the morning, I have to alternate in-between biking and walking.

I am taking challenges on both for September.

If it does not cool down, which I am not very optimistic about, because usually September is still one of our hot months, I have only 15 days for each. I figured I can only do 75 miles walking and 750 miles biking, which will be quite a stretch, especially the biking because I will have to do 50 miles every day I bike. .

Swimming will be indoors, so I can do that in the afternoon. Only I just saw a report how much urine is in public pools and that turned me off. I do not have a pool and I also do not like to swim in small pools, I need the Olympic sized ones. I guess there was always a lot of urine in the pools I swam in, I just did not realize it.

I had problems finding this thread again. My fault. I did not pay close attention.

Hello to all: Hope all in the States are having a good Labor Day weekend. I have had some real highs and a few lows this week. On Tuesday I went out to the stable and the weather was perfect for riding, blue prairie sky and green rolling hills. Had an awesome ride and then watched as the horses were turned out to pasture. My, they were feeling frisky!!! Instead of their usual mosey out the gate they went charging down the hill at a gallop, through the gates, then back around to do it again. What fun to watch.

On Friday DH had to go in for esophageal dilation so got to spend lots of time sitting at the hospital. Can't really walk much as I need to be in the waiting area. Apparently the IV must have pushed some kidney stones along as Saturday we went to an "end of summer party" at a friend's house and after we left there we ended up going to the ER because DH was having a kidney stone attack. Spent way too much time sitting at the hospital again. Today my back is sore, I am sure from those chairs. Now he has to go see urologist this next week.

Cindy - Glad new dog is doing well.

Kim - I love my fitbit and it does motivate me to do more steps. Think I might try that 100 mile challenge. Thanks Sylvia.

Anne - I would not worry about the amount of urine in the pools if they are well maintained. I managed indoor therapy pools at a hospital for 21 years and if the chemicals are correct any urine products would be gone very quickly. Properly maintained pool water kills any germs that are exposed to it in less than .02 of a second. Good luck with the triathlon!

Healing angels to all who need them and congratulations to those with victories. Sue in SD

    Hello Friends,
Feels great to be packing for a pleasure trip. No suits. No heels. No makeup. I'm taking my laptop, but hope to only open it to make quick posts to MFP.

DH is a bit stressed, and that is causing me angst. :grumble: It's along way from Denver to Anchorage, so I've pre-loaded my kindle with videos, magazines and audio books for him. Also have healthy snacks packed. Geez, it's like having a little kid in tow. Speaking of kids, I'm so grateful that Mars the cat is such a trooper. We put him in the PetSmart hotel, and as long as he has a favorite toy and some fresh wheat grass, he copes remarkably well. He is way more social than either of his humans.

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday and has a wonderful week. I'll catch up with you when I get back in a week, but will think of you often.

Good evening!! It feels like a sauna outside!! Hot as hades and grossly humid.

I have been sleeping poorly for the past couple of weeks. I think a lot of it is due to hormones and I think I have a fibroid. Since I refuse to go back to the gynecologist that I have been seeing for the past two years, I think I will make an appointment at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. I get free health care there through October due to my income level. I probably will be able to continue the free care since my income didn't really increase this year. I go for my six month check up with the oncologist this month so I think I will ask her to recommend one. I haven't started freaking out about the check up yet and hope I don't this time.

I had some pretty deep depression issues a couple of weeks ago and thought it was behind me. However, I saw my therapist on Friday and think that, even though I have come out of the deepest part, I still am dealing with it. Sometimes I get too busy and don't put the symptoms together until I talk them through. Not sleeping, craving bad for me food, lots of joint pain and muscle aches, lethargy, and apathy added together come to a very different conclusion than taking each one on its on. Once I recognize the depression, it makes it easier to fight.

My daughter and I came up with some decorating ideas for her new condo yesterday and did some shopping today. I also spent some time online looking for things I'd like to have in my new place. I need to begin dreaming again. Since I finished getting this house ready to sell, I've kind of been lost.

Thanks for the black bean burger recipe!! It's similar to the one I tried but will "combine" the two to try again.

After shopping today, we stopped at Panera for dinner. I love their new flat bread sandwiches and they can be paired with soup or salad for a meal that is under 550 calories. I have had the Southwest sandwich a couple of times but got the BBQ one today. Both are really yummy!!

Today is my official rest day so not doing a whole lot. I skipped church this morning (a sign of depression) and enjoyed being able to lie in bed a read for a while. I did change my sheets and am doing a load of laundry now. Tomorrow, I plan to get some cooking done so that I will have meals for the upcoming week. It feels so awesome to know that I don't have to go to work tomorrow!!!!

I have been reading even though I've not been posting much lately. (That depression thing again!) Keep up the good work!!

Did an hour of Weight Loss Pilates DVD. Tomorrow I'm planning to do some pilates, then hold my plank and then take the extremepump class. Yes, I checked last week. The gal who teaches it will be there.

Beth - I'm constantly making use of my freezer. Most things I look at my first thought is "can it be frozen if needed?" Fresh lime/lemon juice or even herbs have a much better taste than the bottled/jarred stuff. Healing thoughts for your son. Say, does he like jerky? I get it from the Buffalo Guys and it has no nitrates, no MSG, is gluten free and no added hormones.

Lance woke me up this morning at 3a.m. meowing. Earlier that night he let me hug him, etc. But I was up until 5a.m. waiting for him to come to me. Finally, I gave him his insulin. I'm NOT going thru that again. I'm sorry, but he was hissing at me, swiping at me, etc. Why he's one way one minute and then another way the next is beyond me. You'd think he was bipolar or something....lol

yanniejannie - glad dd's h/a was gone! Good time on that plank!

    Margaret...ROTF

Sylvia - sometimes tortillas have a mind of their own

Joyce - I remember that for a few years I didn't send out my Christmas cards until January. For one thing, it certainly helped me cut down on the amount of cards that I sent out since I only sent them to people who sent me cards. Also, before the holidays you really don't have time to "read" the newsletters, I know that I just many times skim them. But after the holidays, after all the hub bub has died down, you can sit and really read the card. It seems they never have decent food at ballparks, at least the ballpark by us doesn't. I usually bring my own food. The first time I did there is a sign saying "no outside food or beverage" but I figured "hey, I bring my own food at the Daytona 500 surely I can for this farm league". Well, they were about to take it away when I told them "I need it for medicinal purposes" so they let me bring it in. That may not have been true, but it was good enough to get the food in an that's what I cared about. Isn't it interesting how our tastes change when we're used to better foods? I can never get over how Vince likes so many refined things. To me, they're too "mushy". But he likes them.

The store by me stopped carrying my low sodium cottage cheese. Boo!

Lesley - I signed up for Jeannette Jenkins's newsletter but couldn't see where I can order the DVD's. Well, that was on my laptop. Maybe I can see it on my desktop.

Anaika - you've been missed! Hope you come back often

Alison - when FIL was so violent, did you go to see him in the evening? I know that with MIL, I'd go to see her during the day and she'd be just fine. Vince would go to see her after work and the sundowning had started in. I know it really hurt him to see his mother that way

Kim - I'm with you, I don't like to spend much on something that I'll only wear once, either.

Sylvia - that joke sounds like a pick-up line to me

Vince just grilled this greek yogurt chicken that we'll have later in the week. A new recipe I wanted to try out.

Alison - you do so much for everyone. You might very well be on to something. The Lord does work in mysterious ways.

Anne - take care of yourself. Good luck on the triathelon. You can do it!

Sue in SD - good thoughts for your hubby (and you)

A miracle occurred! Bryan called me and he didn't even want something. At least I know that he got his card, he failed to tell me when he got it so that I know how long mail takes to get there.

Ladies - I had a problem tonight. I was making myself a salad and I ran out of ideas of things to put in it. I had coleslaw (no dressing, natch), egg whites, mushrooms, some red okra, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, I'm trying to think of what else I can put in my salad. I've had cucumbers for the past few nights so I passed up on them tonight, will probably have some tomorrow night. Any ideas of what else I can put in there?

Rori - we were never able to board our cats. We did it once and the feedback we got from the cat was that the cat peed on Jessica's pillow (she had it in the car). Ever since then whenever we go away, we have a company that comes in and the lady spends some time with the cats, feeds them, she'll bring in our mail and/or garbage cans. What is really nice is that she will give shots of insulin or medication. Of course, you pay for this extra service, but it's nice to know that they can do it.

Carol - it's hot here, but not humid.

Michele, I would add some kind of beans if this is a main dish salad. Sometimes I will put a soft cheese and walnuts in my salads too, adding calories as I go so I don't go too far. I'm so glad you heard from Brian!

    HELP!!!

Does anybody have a cure for VERY itchy bug bites? I got bitten by hundreds of little buggers, all over my feet and ankles and it itches so bad I'm going out of my mind. I tried gold bond anti itch cream, which only made it worse. I soaked my feet in scalding hot water, that didn't help. I tried apple cider vinegar, no luck.

    Any suggestions?

Meg – missed your post when I posted this am …. Glad to hear DHcousin is getting better; although it sure sounds tough! I would not want the head injury but no interest in food would make my journey easier….
Rents in CA all over are high, but right in the bay area they are crazy! :noway: And purchase prices are equally wild – my home 3bed/2bath with 2 car attached garage /NO central heat or air/big back yard would sell for mid 500K….and it is nothing special – honestly…

Sylvia – I always try the second hand and consignment shops first:happy: – sometimes I am lucky sometimes not…but it is worth the time. And today I got a polo tee shirt, a tee shirt with some light beading at the neck and one with some gathers..for $6 – for all - - but nothing for the wedding…

Jane – todays post made me think of haiku – so simple and so complete.

Alison – so cute you call yourself Allie… You are really Saint Allie, you do do do:flowerforyou: what a great family member!!!

If this is god’s way do you think DD with get the message? He seems to be one who will need it in neon lights….

Anne - the urine in pools is neutralized by the chlorine and other chemicals… once in another life I was a lifeguard and in charge of the pools chemicals and if done correctly it is really a pretty neutral environment… It is mentally pretty gross though.

Remember tomorrow we’ll start a September thread …. Don’t loose us!!!

Sue – time waiting in the hospital is so hard!!! Sounds like DH is ok..and that is the most important part…

    Rori – happy travels!!!

Carol – glad you have support in figuring this out, take care – depression can be so hard. I thought of you today, there is a home on my street for sale, and it “sold” the first weekend of open houses, then that sale fell through, and this weekend it is back on the market… the owners must be going crazy…

Michele - I sometimes go asian and do water chestnuts and the baby corn cobs from a can; or add pinto beans and fresh salsa… I will add herbs too basil, mint, cilantro (coriander leaves)

    So glad Brian called:drinker:

Well was all geared up to do my eggplant thing and then remembered I had ratatouille in the fridge from a couple of days ago so did that on 1/2 of a baked potato - yummm and was doing eggplant tonight - pulled the recipe and I need coconut milk..:grumble: none in the pantry... so tomorrow! for sure!! I puttered a lot today and don't have much to show for it, but sometimes I need a putter day... this coming week is really busy, and it is spilling into tomorrow so the "holiday" is a work day for me. But that is ok.. well off to rustle up dinner...

I have been looking through my salad recipes lately too to get more variety.

Very refreshing I found an iceberg lettuce salad with grapes, grapefruit pieces and walnut pieces.

Half of the grapefruit is used for the dressing together with lemon juice, Orange peel, sugar and salt and olive oil
As a special treat you can dip the grapes into lightly battered egg white and coat them with sugar and let them dry.

I also made a sauerkraut salad after reading that we should eat more fermented stuff.

Mixed with apples cut into small pieces, yogurt, salt, pepper, mustard and olive oil. and green onions. o jave to admit that I add nuts to nearly all my salads. I keep a wide variety of nuts and seeds and add a little bit of them to most meals.

We share the insomnia problem, which is either caused by depression or hormonal issues. It drives me up the walls, because so many days I am just not able to do what I want because I only slept very few hours if at all.

And all the remedies I tried, do not help. I do not understand that I cannot sleep after biking so much.
And I tried everything, I tried biking at a moderate pace and I tried exhausting myself. Neither one brings the desired result of me being tired enough to sleep. I bought meditation tapes and do relaxing Yoga before going to bed and it may work once and then not again.

It is on my September list of things to solve, there must be a solution.

I have not had any problems with itching lately, but I remember that you should put ice packs on it, not use the ice directly on the skin but wrap it in a towel first

try a paste of baking soda and water. My home remedy book suggests that you moisten the area and rub it with an aspirin. Or meat tenderizer. I've used seabreeze, the complexion toner on bites. You could also try soaking your feet in warm water with epsom salts.

I keep benadryl on hand in a wand applicator or a spray for large areas. Hope this helps, Diane
