first time tracking miles. just got a specialized road bike but still love to ride my townie too!

September goals?
Goal #1: Oktoberfest starts on my birthday this month, so I guess my goal this month is to stay ahead of the calorie count by turning the pedals enough to indulge...
Goal #2: Get fewer flats this month.
September 3 - rode 14.7 miles for a duration of 1:06:09

I know it's probably kind of lame, but can you participate if you ride on the stationary bike at the gym? (the tall one, not the recumbent one)? I don't have a "real" bike anymore, and anyway, I'm terrified of dogs, so I do my riding in the gym. Usually average about 15 miles a session. Would that be okay? And how do you join?0

Sure you can use a stationary bike, there are a few others that also count spinning 'miles' or time.

To stay motivated I track mileage.....I started an imaginary cross country road trip.....my starting point Wantagh, Long Island and headed to Los Angeles.....my journey started in May and I have travled 2021 miles with about 800 or so to go....I'm running out of time.....my rides are after work and days are getting shorter......to reach my goal of 500 for the month of September I need to average 17.8 miles a day......0

I'm going for #1 tonight Probably won't get it cause that time was all I had....you never realize how long 4 minutes is until you are pushing yourself as hard as you can..........................or if you are underwater I guess...lol.0 -

Just slack peddle until the start of the segment saving your energy and then kick it in to high gear. It is kind of like cheating, but not quite0 -

Trust me...that's what I did for this one. The only way to really get KOMs of segments is to go hunt for them. You won't get any top spots if you just ride without knowing where they are. This one was on my 19th mile. Tonight, I am parking closer to the segment and going for it first thing.0 -

This sounds interesting! I am not sure what my goal is because I've never really counted miles. I do triathlons so biking is not my only form of exercise, so my miles aren't all that high compared to some of you! Anyway, this is what I have so far.....
