I'm in! Just starting up again after a 9 month stress fracture battle... I'll go for 50 (although I'm still at a walk/run) :( This is my first day with my Fit Bit.

Is there going to be a group or something, or do we just update this thread??

It's an honors system. You post your miles daily here in this thread. Although, we do have a group page (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/21182-monthly-running-challenges) it is mostly for references and place to ask questions or additional support. Logging your miles is done here.

I'm going to go with 50 miles this month. Hoping I get more but this is a start. I'm trying to incorporate running into my lifting routine.

I'm in for 150, and I'd be super thrilled with 175. But I'm tracking everything--my walks, runs, etc.

I am going for 40 miles in October since I turn 40 on October 8. I am just getting back into running so this will definitely be a challenge.

I've never really done long distance running before, only sprints, so I'm going to try and slowly make the transition into distance running with almost a mile everyday. So for the month of October, I'd like to run 30 miles.
    10/1 - 1 mile

I'm glad I found this group.... going for 31 miles in October. I will probably crush that goal but I know it's attainable with my other workouts.

Happy October everyone! ran my first 4.3 miles this morning in the rain, but I'll go back out this evening to finish the day. I'm excited for all the new runners who've posted goals this month. I hope you learn to love running & are encouraged by all the miles people log here. I wish I had time to cheer on everyone!

@QueenMedusa- from almost 11 miles last month to 31 this month- Nice new goal! Put those new shoes to work!

@QueenMother14- I started running again after a 15 year break the summer before I turned 40. I'll turn 41 at the end of this October. 40 miles is an achievable goal- you've got this!

    DATE : MILES : TOTAL
    Oct 1 : 4.3 : 4.3 rain

This cracked me up! So true, but I do still measure my runs in miles :noway:

I do km for quick, easy split calculation while running.. It's just easier for me than something like: what is 9.33 miles * <some pace>.

I LOVE your weight loss ticker :).
