I got myself fitted for new trainers yesterday. I went to a specialist running shop in Leeds, 'Up & Running' , even tho all I'm doing ATM is walking & the gym. I explained all that & they couldnt have been more helpful, I even had my gait analyzedn and I was amazed that even my damaged ankle is steady as a rock on fast walking.
I ended up with a pair of Mizuno Wave Riders, and they are the most comfy trainers I've ever had!
So a big thank you to Up & Running.
I am amazed how many people don't wear proper runners when doing running/gym work.0 -
I'm so knackered. I've been to the gym and did my 1.5 hour set AND walked 5 miles along the canal. I really enjoyed the walk apart from one thing. Why don't people 'scoop the poop'? Part of the way there was more dog sh1t then path!:explode:

I had a gait analysis done a number of months ago, and also got a pair of Mizuno trainers
I had broken a bone in my foot two years ago, and was having a lot of pain when walking a distance! The new trainers have helped this a great deal
Also, the video that was taken of my run had been sent to the head office, as they'd never seen anything like me before... With wanting to take the pressure off my damaged foot, I was actually airborne :laugh:0 -
Hi everyone. Lee you sound very motivated, good luck with it all, it helps to have a goal in the distance to work towards.
Jain makesure you change your trainers after 500 miles. Its also amazing the number of people who think good quality trainers last for ever. They do need replacing. I'm due to replace mine next month and I've been naughty and gone over my 500 miles
Hi Louise great to see you. Welcome on board.
Not much to tell at the moment just plodding along, some days better than others.0 -
Weeeeeeee:happy:
Just weighed in & I've lost 4lbs!!!
All that sweat at the gym is so worth it.0 -

Hi to all. I've only been in the UK for a couple of years. My scales (which I brought with me from the U.S.) are not very accurate or consistent. Would someone please recommend a good brand of scales that is available here? I would really like to know how much weight I've actually lost.
Many thanks,
katzpawz0 -
*waves at Team Softies*
I'm really not holding my breath this week... it's the wrong week in the month if you get my drift...
I retain water like a camel and slept straight through my alarm this morning!! :huh:0 -

I like my Tanita ones- the ones that are supposed to measure your fat % as well. I don't know how accurate it is, but it's nice to see something else decreasing as well0 -
Hello! Don't know why, but only just found this thread. Glad it's here so that I actually have a clue what you're all talking about, especially food-wise!
I only had a bit of 'vanity weight' left when I started mfp, and that was gone in what felt like no time. I had never counted calories before, and I suspect my unmonitored regimes took me well under 1200 at times. So now I'm at maintenance, so I wouldn't be much use to the Southern Softies
I started a thread about scales a while back, but the only one mentioned that's in the UK is very expensive. I quite like my analogue scales though. If I want I can squint and make the numbers look better :laugh:0 -
I have just bought some lovely ones made by Salter that measure your weight, BMI, body fat% and water %. All for £20 in Asda. :bigsmile:0

Time for a trip to Asda! :laugh:0

Morning everyone hope you're all having a good weekend.
Just weighed in for end of february and lost 3.5lbs this month - I so wanted that extra 0.5lbs to make it 1lb a week!! Hopefully next month will be 4.5lbs loss to make up for it!
Now I've just got to take some horrible pictures and post them on my blog........joy!!

My new favourite snack: Tesco Whole foods' Seed Mix. Seeds flavoured (lightly) with soy sauce... Mmm!
Just thought only Team UK would want to know that :happy:0 -
Well its the end of another month and somehow I managed to lose 2lb. Mainly it was food poisoning I think, but the weight hasn't gone back on again so I'm recording it officially
I'm now 2lb off my goal. It would be nice to achieve that next month, but not banking on it. My bf is 26.9% so would be nice to get that to 26% for end of March.
Well done Irns. BTW I couldn't get into your blogspot.com, maybe I typed the wrong letters??
Oishii, I love seeds!!!!! Really have to limit myself though, bit like salted peanuts and pringles, once I pop I can't stop!! Same problems with jam doughnuts, chocolate, jaffa cakes, cakes, malt loaf, currant buns etc etc etc etc etc etc zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz    list goes on for ever!!!!!!!!!!0 -
