Congrats Bluiz!!! I am very proud of myself...I feel that I have transformed my mindset from a quick fix diet to a true change of lifestyle. I have dieted most of my life and have yo-yo'ed with my weight. NO MORE!!!! I choose therefore I am. I choose to leave this unhealthy lifestyle behind and embrace a new way of life that will enable me to be the (man, husband, father, son, friend....) that I know God wants me to be. I wnat to stop being self conscious about my weight and have fun with my kids when we go to the beach or amusment parks. I will not cheat them of those experiences because of my self pity. I grew up with an obese mother, and I remember the other kids teasing to a point that I wouldn't even want to acknowledge that she was my mother. I will not have my children face that same experience if I can help it. So to wrap it up...I plan to be on this site as long as it takes to reach my goals, and then some. Thank You everyone for your support and motivation0

I always believe the very best in people, and I like that about myself. Some say that makes me naive, but I would rather go through life hoping for the best than expecting the worst.0 -
Great goals for the week and an amazing loss for the week, Denise!!
Today's positive statement: I like the way I look today. That very nearly makes me want to cry. I know it's silly. But I put on a shirt that I used to not wear because it was tight around my hips...today I belted it above my waist just to give it shape and not look like I was wearing a trashbag...oh! and it's sleeveless and I'm wearing it outside the house where other people can see me!
Water goal met at 8:30 this morning. I might have to modify this goal to be 80 oz every two hours.
I will try to work on stretching this week...even though I also feel like it is an enormous waste of time
Here is the recipe that I'm going to make up tonight (I don't follow recipes...I just do what seems right)
I think I will call it Unstuffed Peppers Casserole. For some reason peppers here in northern AL are outrageously priced and I just can't bring myself to pay that kind of money for a freaking pepper. I'm also going to skip using rice and try using cauliflower that gets chopped to rice size and subbing ground chicken for the beef.
Keep in mind I don't measure anything...it's all eyeballing, sight, and smell for me.
Ground chicken
Frozen Three Pepper and Onion blend
Frozen Cauliflower (thawed and minced)
Diced tomatoes (I'm using canned cause that's what we have)
Tomato sauce
Red Pepper flakes
2% Shredded Mexican cheese blend
Cook the chicken, peppers, and cauliflower together until the chicken is done - add the spices of your choosing here...salt, pepper, chili flakes, onion power, garlic powder, celery salt...etc.
Add in tomatoes and sauce (will probably need to drain the tomatoes since I'm not using rice)
Transfer to casserole
Top with cheese
Bake at about 425 to set and brown up the cheese...15-30 minutes...basically until it smells good and looks melty.
***A good size serving of this is coming up for me at under 300 calories. #WINNING.
Let's get it done this week!! I'm feeling really positive...let's make it stick.0 -
Great job Denise and Peyton!!
Love the challenge for the week very doable!!
Today's positive statement: I am worth it!!!0 -
oreyna49 i would like to make a suggestion.....change your ticker to show your amazing losses instead of what you still need to lose....i find it very motivating to seeeeee where i have come from instead of where i'm going....again this is just me, but i think everyone should at least try it.....0

i dont use a bun with mine so i make the burgers bigger and count the calories as if i did eat a bun.....i dont do the lettuce and tomato either...i usually top mine with A1 sauce....we typically have sweet potato steak fries with kosher salt sprinkled and broiled asparagus or zucchini with olive oil spray and some seasonings sprinkled on top.....enjoy....we are having these saturday night and have had them several times in the past....
Bleu Cheese Burgers
Prep Time:30 min
Start to Finish:30 min
makes:4-6 burgers
1/4 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats (1packet instant)
1/8 cup water
1.5 lb extra-lean (at least 93%) ground beef
1/2 cup crumbled reduced-fat blue cheese (4 oz)
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh chives - i dont use these....
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8-1/4 teaspoon red pepper sauce - i use crystal's hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
4-6 whole wheat burger buns
4-6 leaf lettuce leaves
4-6 tomato slices
1. Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix oats and water. Stir in beef, blue cheese, chives, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper sauce, pepper, mustard and salt until well mixed. Shape mixture into 4-6 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
2. Place patties on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals. Cover grill; cook 11 to 13 minutes, turning once, until thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F. - i broil cause they tend to fall apart on the grill
3. For each burger, layer lettuce, tomato and patty in bun.
Contact Grill Directions: Heat closed contact grill 5 minutes. Place patties on bottom grill surface. Close grill; cook 6 to 7 minutes or until thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F.

SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.....It makes you stand up and take notice....I HAVE LOST 14LBS.....SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS....i would never ever ever have told ANYONE that i weighed 253.8 lbs when i started my journey and 263 at my highest but i tell everyone now lol....cause i know i'm NEVER going back there......showing what you have done and celebrating it everyday will keep you motivated to "finish" this journey.....keep going - you are doing great.....0 -
Sorry for not reporting by yesterday. 196.2 this week. Having a weird plateau, but I will break through!0

Great challenges this week, Bluiz!
@oreyna49- I really loved what you said. I felt the same way about my mother as a kid, and now I feel like you do with my daughter. I don't want her to miss out on ANYTHING because I'm so self conscious about myself. It was so great to see your post first thing this morning
Which gave me my positive thought for the day- I CAN BREAK THE CYCLE!!!! I had overweight grandmothers, an overweight mother, but it ends now! I will get to a healthy weight! and my example will help my daughter be healthy and happy I'm very proud to say that her favorite foods are green beans and bananas. Hahahaha0 -
Bluiz, I love the onederland challenge! But I'm gonna change mine from 7/4 to 4/19. That gives me 7 days to lose 1 pound! I can do it, I'm knocking on the door! By 7/4, I'm gonna be 185-the lowest I've been since freshman year of college (2005). Thanks for the challenge!0

My updates are on my ticker0

Thank You, belileve it or not...this is the first time i've ever shared that. I don't think i've even told my wife that part of my childhood. It goes to show how bad I want this and how much respect I have for my MFP friends.0 -
ACK! I missed the weigh-in!!
I'm 136.2. It's a very marginal loss, but I will definitely take it. =]
