Julie - I always got irritated on the subway in NYC when people wouldn't offer their seats to a pregnant woman. It was almost always women that offered their seats. Men just sat there like loads. 70-odd pounds ago I'd thought about trying to get some sort of procedure like lapband or gastric bypass, but it wouldn't have fixed anything - I would have gained everything right back because I wasn't willing and/or able to make smart, healthy decisions.
Heather - yay on going down a bra size!
lstpaul - thanks for the links...I'll be checking them out later.
Jess - hope you're back around for good now. I've missed your posts!
Cris - welcome back!
I just signed a lease on a new apartment yesterday. It's a nice, quiet complex with a gorgeous pool and 24-hour fitness center for when my gym is closed or on weird hours. Best part - it's a 1-bedroom so it'll be just mine! No more roommates to deal with.
I've also tried to stay off the scale this week. I've made it this far without checking my weight every morning and I think it is healthier for me. I'm going to just try to focus on how I'm feeling, watching what I'm eating, and working out, without worrying about the scale every morning. Hopefully I'll still have a loss on Friday!0 -
chris - glad to see yoU
Juile - to me doesn't sounds like "trys" at all to loose weight, i mean really take an effor at something before resulting in lap band, does she not realize if she doesn't change her thinking that it will stay off.
I am still not in it all the way, we have ate out the last few days, i know i am up probably back over 270 ,...ugg...today so far i have been pretty good, had some cantelope and grapes , a fiber one bar and some ceral. I know i need to get back into more strict , for me that is the only thing that works , i just got to get in the mind set.
Also i do think i do better when i have a exercise plan too (or at least it did when i lost quite a bit last summer). I just got to figure out what htat will be. We bought the kinnects and the games and stuff are general okay workout, they have volleyball and track and field I think i am going to get a new game too, that is an actual fitness one.
Our fitness center is closed  from storms so i can't go down there now, but i think soon as it openes i am going to have to force my but to go down there at least a fwe times a week. They don't have my loved arc trainer , but they do have some ellitpicals so that may work.
I wish my knee wasn't hurting i know i could do more if it didn't. I think i am going to start taking some supplments, hoping it will help and if not, i may be going to the orthepdic doctor , i mean i am 36 (yes i hate saying that now instead of 35), i hope i don't have where i can't climb stairs wihtout pain in my knee forever :sad:0 -
Heather-It's okay I don't blame you for wanting to keep your bf. He sounds pretty wonderful. I'm back on the prowl again anyways. I ended things with the bf last night.
Purple-Thank you for the welcome back wishes. I hope I'm here to stay too! Trying to get it all rolling again and I think it's gonna stick this time around. Congrats on the apartment
Deb-Hope your knee gets to feeling better. Those were some pretty nasty storms. I have no doubt that it did some damage by you!0 -

Thanks jess, i know my weight doesn't help my knee but feel like if my knee's ankeles were better i could do more...guess it is a catch 22. Pools are openeing soon so i may try to do some swimming too.
Those storms were bad, i was just grateful we didn't have any to our brand new house that would of horrible. The houses at the front of our commnity got hit pretty bad, it was just sooo super windy here, i swore i felt like my house was going to blow over0 -
Allison -- I lived alone for about 1.5 years in college and LOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEEDDDDD it. Oh, it was so much easier to keep everything clean and so peaceful (well, it would've been if my condo hadn't been in the party bar district ). I didn't have to deal with rowdy guests of roommates (just my own rowdy guests). It was MY space and I could do whatever I felt like doing whenever I wanted to do it. I swear I love my hubby but sometimes I still wish I lived there... alone. :indifferent:
Deb -- You're back and you're trying and that counts for something. Here's some motivation -- my ankles used to KILL me when I weighed 275. Both of my knees hurt, too. They don't hurt at all anymore, even as a humongous pregnant woman.
Jess -- I'm glad to see you back. It'll be a lot easier to worry about yourself without any bf drama (just assuming -- breakups are usually a little dramatic, right?).
Heather -- Hooray for smaller bras! 7-8 months ago, I very happily bought a few 36Cs. *sigh* I don't think I'll be able to wear those bras again for a year or 2. The girls are getting a little out of control. I desperately need to find some pregnancy/nursing bras because my old 38Ds aren't even close to hacking it at this point. :ohwell:0 -

Thanks Julie - i hope in the next few weeks and I can get back into it, like really, I think once we are settled in and have a routine it will be better, it is almost to the time it was last year when i got busy and busted my butt and lost quite a bit, i am hoing i can do the same, but then not gain it all back :sad:0 -
Oh, the SC senate just tentatively approved a suggestion to offer health insurance premium "incentives" to public employees who participate in fitness programs or have a healthy bmi (:grumble:). In other words, to hike up health insurance rates for fat folks.
Now, I'm honestly not directly opposed to the idea, but it REALLY irritates me that, as of now, the only measure they're going to take into account is BMI. I'm probably going to have at least a good 60-70 pounds to lose after this pregnancy to be in the "healthy" category for my height -- less than 145 pounds. :noway: Now, I could be wrong, but given that I wore a size 12 at 195, I'm thinking I'd wear a size 4 or 6 at 145lbs. Size 6 was (is) my ultimate goal, but I really don't know that I'd want to be smaller than that.
I can't seem to understand why a person would be motivated to lose weight to avoid extra charges on premiums when they wouldn't lose weight to.. you know... live a more fulfilling and longer life. This is such a disgusting culture of instant gratification & completley ignoring long-term effects of one's actions.
Anyway, the bill this is a part of requires another vote in senate before it goes to the house so it very well not even be passed.0 -
Julie-Breakups are a big dramatic usually. We've been having drama and fighting for a good 3 weeks now and nothing was changing so enough was enough. So it's for the better and I feel like a weight has been lifted! I'm a lover not a figher.0

Good morning ladies!
What a crazy week! (And by crazy, I think it's really been normal... it's just been a really long time since I've had to leave the house everyday haha) The week is going to get even crazier, today I am getting off early because we're driving down to Adam's parents' house (Kentucky) for the weekend... where I need to also write my next 12 page paper which is due Tuesday.
I finally got the last one done around 11:00PM on Tuesday (just one short hour before it was due haha).
As far as calories go, I haven't been all that bad this week flying by the seat of my pants. I think next two weeks are going to be pretty crazy as well. There are two offices that are each moving into one space, so I'm going to be the utility person until everyone gets settled in the new space (which is supposedly really cool).
So far training has been going pretty well. Everything is really well-organized so it's pretty easy to pickup! I'm just looking forward to when I don't have to ask 2082 questions every time (I struggle with not knowing how to do everything haha).
Allison - congrats on the new apartment! I also loved living by myself. Company when you want it, solitude when you don't!
Jess - good for you on knowing when enough is enough. Too many women don't know the difference.
Julie - I agree with Lauren... 6.5 months already! I feel like it was just yesterday that you told us the good news!0 -
Morning!
Teresa, glad to hear things are going well at the new job! It can be tough to change up your routine, but you'll get it!
Jess, glad to hear you are happier as a lover.
Allison, I lived by myself for a year (right out of grad school actually!) and it was lovely. Wouldn't change it for the world.
Heather, glad to hear the girls are shrinking - it matters!!
Checking in for yesterday:
Cals - Over by 214 - 1792
Water - 64 oz
Exercise - Walked for an hour
Proud - Last night I handed out granola bars and invitations to our church's Easter services this Friday. I could have just stayed put on one corner, but I decided to take the show on the road and walk about 2 miles as I handed them out. Made the experience much better for me (I admit that I had less than a great attitude about it going in) and got in some exercise!0 -

Really? I don't. :laugh:0 -
Allison: Congrats on the new apartment and not weighing for a week! I'd love to have a pool at my access, preferably indoor being it IS still winter here in Minnesota. Oh, and I love the new pic as well! Adorable!
Jess: I sent you a message back. Sorry to hear about the break up, but congrats if it was for the better. Sounds like you'd better be going out with your boots on tomorrow night!
Julie: My sister's employer (a hospital), gives health incentives to employees based on BMI. My sister has lost 50 lbs in the past year, but she doesn't qualify for the incentives since her BMI doesn't fall in their range. Terrible, but true. I mean, she wears a size 6-8 but her shape (pear!) and height (5'5") don't help. I think they need to look at a more comprehensive profile of healthy lifestyle rather than the one number. I'll hope it doesn't get passed.
Checking in for yesterday:
Calories: Just slightly over
Water: 55.7 oz...need more!
Exercise: Does walking around the mall count?
Proud: I had a delicious baked potato for dinner instead of greasy, fried food from the mall food court. It left me with enough room to have my ice cream!0 -
OMG what happened, so many comments!! So glad everyone is keeping it up! Easter break officially starts today, hope I can stay on track with my eating habits!!
What does everyone have planned for Easter?0 -
I'm up a pound from last Friday at 228.4 today. I'm fine with that. considering I was over 229 earlier this week (:noway:) among several other things. I expect to be under 228 tomorrow, I just didn't have time to attend to some business this morning. *ahem*
Yesterday FIL and family were in town from the DC area so I took a half day off work and we went to the zoo. I couldn't believe how tired I got just from walking around at a slow pace for 3 hours or so. I was completely exhausted by the time we had dinner & came home and my legs are still tired today. Carrying around a 3 pound parasite is no joke!0 -
Julie: At least you wandered around! Others would not have put the effort in to waddle three hours with a "3 pound parasite!"
I'm happy with my weight today because I had sodium-filled fajita deliciousness for dinner last night and still had a loss. Woo hoo! This weekend will be challenging with Easter and my birthday. We're eating at my fave Italian restaurant tomorrow night, then I have two Easter meals with family on Sunday. Yikes! Tonight it looks like Subway is on my agenda. A workout would also be a good preemptive strike for the weekend.
Checking in for yesterday:
Points/Calories: Slight over
Exercise: None
Water: 76 oz.
Proud: Didn't feel the need to clear my fajita skillet, stopped when I was satisfied but not overly full. The Intuitive Eating is really starting to work!0 -
Oops, forgot weigh-in:

Great job, Heather!
Mmmmmm, fajitas. Thanks for reminding me I've been craving them. Just added fajita fixins to the shopping list. Hubby's working tonight so, hooray for a quick & delicious (& almost healthy!) dinner for one.0 -
Forgot to weigh in this morning! Can't seem to get my days straight this week.
Julie, good job waddling around the zoo for 3 hours. When I was preg with baby #2 I did a 4 mile hike and I thought I was going to die. I was pretty big pregg. and one hiker whom I have never met says" good job momma!!!" Wonder how he knew my name?:laugh:0 -
I am so excited my husband and I will be going away for the night this summer. Just the 2 of us. We have not done that in years, I mean like 13 years to be exact. I am doing a happy dance. Me, him, alone...... whoooooooohooooooooo. Reason to work hard on this bod of mine:blushing:0
-
I totally did not lose anything today...but happy with not gaining. leaves me at 2550
-
Heather..............-0.4.............-0.22%
Allison................-0.7.............-0.33%
Weird that only two of us weighed in today! Where is everyone???
I'm home for the Easter weekend - shopping in my mom's closet for some work apparel. She's also a 16 so hopefully I don't have to buy too many clothes at this size!0 -
Good job Heather & Allison on your losses! I was at our farmhouse on Friday for an early Easter celebration and we surprised my mom for her 70th birthday. I had a nice time but ate pretty poorly, I even had McDonalds on the way there on Friday night because I stopped for the kids. I haven't had McDonalds since I started my nutrition class over 3 months ago ... it was icky. Then on Friday there was too much good food, I did go on one long walk up a big hill - so got in some exercise. Unfortunately eating too much on Friday set me up for craving everything under the sun on Saturday ... I hate that! Hopefully today will be better, but we are going to Easter dinner at my in-laws - so I know that will be challenging too. I'm kind of down today about it all. Hopefully be able to get right back on track quickly.
Have a Happy Easter everyone!0 -
Happy easter everyone !!
I am for real this time !! I am starting back tomorrow...and sticking to it. tried the last few weeks on and off...but tomorrow is it.!! I am going back to logging calories, sticking to 1440 + exercise calories, working out something at least 3x a week, but going to try to every day. I got a kinnets game so going to try that or walking , and hopefully the fitness center will be open soon.0 -
